Chapter 1200 A man's knees are worth gold; a test of brotherhood and father-son affection.
"Avada Kedavra!"
The seawater, tinged with a ghostly green by the Killing Curse, crashed into Surtur, instantly producing the sound of strong acid melting the walls.
"what!"
Surtur let out a painful howl, and the flames on his body dimmed noticeably.
Although it lasted only a short time, it did seriously hurt Surtur, causing him to feel pain and forcing him to stop attacking.
"The aura of death?" Hela said in surprise. "It killed the flame, but it wasn't strong enough. Otherwise, it could have truly annihilated the immortality of the Eternal Flame."
"How could God the Father be so easy to kill!"
"Unless I advance to the cosmic level, killing Surtur in one strike is a pipe dream," Alyn said matter-of-factly. "But... as long as it works."
"You're asking for death! How dare you harm the great Fire Giant King!" Surtur roared, raising the Twilight Sword and slamming it down on the protective shield.
Click!
The overburdened barrier finally gave way, and the guardian spirit let out a mournful cry before vanishing into nothingness.
clang!
A massive, ice-blue magic circle suddenly appeared, summoning a giant ice shield that blocked the falling flaming greatsword.
"I hate ice." Upon seeing the ice radiating cold air, Surtur immediately thought of the frost giants, the nemesis of the fire giants, and the force in his sword instantly increased.
In an instant, cracks appeared all over the ice shield, threatening to shatter at any moment.
"As expected, using a forbidden-level magic array to fight against the Heavenly Father is still too much of a stretch." Aaron murmured. After all, he was currently in his 'incomplete form' and could not fully unleash the power that the God of Magic should have.
"Is it okay?" Hela asked sarcastically. "I can help."
"Since you've asked me that, how can I say no?"
“Don’t push yourself too hard,” Thor said. “Frigga is activating the Rainbow Bridge; buying her some time will be enough.”
"Not at all, not at all," Aaron said irritably, then pulled out a black and gold flintlock pistol from a crimson spatial magic circle.
Intricate patterns covered the gun barrel, and the striking red spider lilies shone with a blood-red luster.
The instant the Twilight Sword cleaved through the ice shield, Aaron swiftly raised his gun and pulled the trigger.
For a massive target like Surtur, there's no need to aim at all.
boom!
A white bullet, glowing with an eerie light, was fired from the muzzle and struck Surtur in the chest before the Twilight Sword could fall.
Surtur's pupils flickered with firelight as he uncontrollably took a step back, only managing to stay upright by using the Twilight Sword in his hand to support himself.
He stared blankly down at the transparent hole in his chest, as big as his fist, his face full of disbelief.
Although the hole was nothing under the influence of Ragnarok, with flames and magma rapidly filling it and replenishing his 'flesh and blood,' he was now the Father, the incomparably powerful Father, and should not have suffered such an injury.
"This is impossible." Thor's eyes widened in astonishment. "How did you do that with just one simple shot?"
"First, prepare enough materials, materials that can withstand powerful energy without collapsing, such as... the raw materials of Mjolnir or Gungnir."
Then comes alchemy, inscribing magical runes in various ways, and finally, the crucial enchanting.
Most importantly... you need to have enough patience, because the number of failures will far exceed your expectations, and each failure means wasting a massive amount of resources. "Aaron said with some heartache, "That bullet we just fired could buy at least three planets."
"What?"
"Don't think it's expensive; theoretically, it can kill a peak-level demigod."
To put it bluntly, someone like you could be killed with a single shot.
Thor: ......
This blunt truth is somewhat hurtful.
“But we can’t kill Surtur,” Loki cautioned.
Seemingly in response to his words, Surtur raised the Twilight Sword once more.
All the flames of Asgard seemed to be summoned, surging towards the greatsword.
The crimson sword blade turned almost blood red, and the temperature rose again, causing the sea to boil.
"This won't kill me..."
boom!
Aaron pulled the trigger again, enlarging the hole in his chest.
Surtur's voice stopped abruptly, and it took him a while to recover from his shock.
"You deserve to die..."
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang...
Aaron didn't give him a chance to finish speaking, and pulled the trigger repeatedly, firing all the remaining alchemical bullets in the gun barrel, enough to kill the peak-level Heavenly Father.
Surtur was shot in the head, neck, abdomen, and limbs. In that instant, the fire giant, who was as tall as the sky, was completely dismembered.
His body fell heavily to the ground, scattering into human-shaped flames, but still burning fiercely.
"This..." Thor stared blankly at the scene. "This is too unbelievable! It's solved just like that."
"Thor, if you're brainless, eat some pig brains to make up for it!" Loki was speechless. "It only destroyed Surtur's physical form, just like when my sister pinned him down."
"Resurrection is only a matter of time, and..."
"And I'm out of bullets too." Aaron helplessly ejected the gun barrel, which was empty except for a faint smell of gunpowder. "Ten enchanted bullets, all gone in one go."
"Damn mage," Surtur's head uttered a hateful voice, "I'll kill you, I'll kill you..."
Aaron ignored Surtur's incompetent barking. He was relatively lenient towards the dying, and besides... the way he arranged for Surtur's death wasn't exactly dignified.
"Have you thought it through?" Aaron looked at Hela. "Will you sign the contract or not?"
"Are you really not worried?" Hela asked uncertainly.
"Ha! A man's knees are worth gold. He may go against his conscience if he has no other choice, but when it's time to cash in, he should be quick to do so."
"The education I received from a young age emphasized the importance of 'following one's heart,'" Aaron said without the slightest embarrassment. "My father demonstrated this to me more than once; the way he knelt before my mother was...so elegant."
"Ahem! In short, just kneeling down is enough to get a wife and kids, which is an absolute steal for me."
Hela chuckled, "Looking at it this way, it seems like I'm the one who's at a disadvantage by just making you kneel."
"Uh... if that doesn't work, I can kowtow to you again."
“No need.” Hela casually wrote her name on the contract: Hela Odinson.
As the contract dissipated into specks of light, Aaron knelt down on one knee before Hela with a bouquet of purple roses in his hand.
"Six!" x2.
Thor and Loki both gave a thumbs up. If it weren't for the inappropriate occasion, anyone who didn't know better would have thought it was a marriage proposal!
When a man kneels before a woman during a marriage proposal, it might seem like a romantic gesture.
Aaron stood up nonchalantly, placed the rose in Hela's hand, and then patted his clothes, which were spotless. "The contract is complete."
Whether you like it or not, you have to come home with me. There's no room for discussion.
"You even try to take advantage of this loophole?" Hela teased.
"Give me some face in public. I'll kneel down for you when no one else is around!" Aaron smiled and patted Hela's hand. "Let's take off that... crown on your head first!"
With me here, you won't need to participate in the battles to come.
Hela did not refuse, and her sharp black crown transformed into long, beautiful black hair.
Aaron breathed a slight sigh of relief; he was more used to Hela being like this.
The combat mode is incredibly oppressive, especially since he was once chased and slashed by Hela with a sword in combat mode, leaving him with some psychological trauma.
"Although I still have some questions, I don't think you can answer them," Aaron said with a mysterious smile. "Let's find someone else!"
Who knows about our engagement?
"Odin, Horn, Frigga, Wanda..."
"Alright, that's enough," Aaron interrupted. "The only person who could scheme against me to this point of no return is either your father or my ancestor."
Even if others played some role in it, they were at most accomplices.
“Odin, it must be him,” Hela said with absolute certainty.
“That’s for sure.” Aaron looked thoughtfully at the slightly warm emerald ring on his right thumb, “but it’s not necessarily all his fault.”
"What do you mean?"
"Prophets are relatively rare in the world of magic, but this great profession is not so scarce in the Gaius family."
In our family, the wizards with good talent all have some degree of prophetic ability.
And the most outstanding among them may be able to see the future, countless years into the future.
"What is all this nonsense?" Thor asked, puzzled.
"It's nothing." Aaron offered no explanation, instead turning to Surtur, whose body had been reattached in the flames but who still couldn't stand. "I need a little more time. Could you slow down your recovery a bit?"
“Dream on,” Surtur sneered. “My sword will burn you to ashes.”
"I don't need your permission," Aaron said coldly, then spread his enormous bat wings and soared into the sky.
As his wings flapped, the sky instantly changed with the changing winds and clouds.
The sky, which had been dyed red by the firelight, was suddenly covered by dark clouds. Thick, silvery-white lightning tore through the clouds, and crimson thunder flashed frequently.
Soon after, a cold wind howled, and large chunks of hail poured down along with the heavy rain.
Surtur was doused with cold water by this once-in-a-century natural disaster. Although the flames on his body were still burning fiercely, he was not as 'jubilant' as he had been at the beginning.
What upset him even more was that the rain and hail were all aimed at him, while other places, such as the Rainbow Bridge, were unaffected.
Not to mention raindrops, not even a gust of wind blew through.
"Mage, you've gone too far!" Surtur roared. The change in the celestial phenomena could only slightly slow down his resurrection speed, but it couldn't change anything.
But it made him feel deeply humiliated. The mighty Flame Giant King was actually being washed with ice rain. It was simply a huge joke.
"That's ridiculous. You're about to burn me to ashes, and you're blaming me for being too arrogant?" Aaron scoffed, spread his wings, and flew back to the Rainbow Bridge.
"This is the power of a demon, isn't it?" Thor looked at Aaron with suspicion. "When did you become a demon?"
"It's a long story, but I must correct one point: I am not a demon."
Please don't describe me as a demon; that word is unworthy of my status.
"Okay, okay."
Aaron snorted, then summoned a huge hailstone and cast a transformation spell, turning it into an ice sculpture of Odin.
"What are you doing?" Loki asked. "Isn't it too late to pray to the Allfather now?"
"Shut up."
A gray rat pattern appeared in Aaron's pupils, infusing the ice sculpture with energy that transforms stillness into movement.
However, only a faint white light appeared on the ice sculpture before it quickly returned to silence.
"Heh! As expected, you chose to refuse!" Aaron sneered. "Hela, I have to admit you were right before."
I have virtually no regrets in this universe. My only regret is that I didn't agree when you suggested killing this old geezer.
"What did you say?" Solton couldn't hold back any longer. "You're insulting my father. He's dead."
“Is that so?” Aaron raised an eyebrow, then looked up at the sky and roared, “Odin, I know you can see what’s happening here.”
"You succeeded, but I need an explanation."
You can choose not to participate, but you will bear the consequences.
Anyway, now that things have come to this, I have nothing to worry about anymore.
After saying that, Aaron looked at Hela and asked, "If I were to kill them both, would you agree?"
Thor: ......
Loki: ...
"Hmm?" Hela smiled knowingly. "I have no objection, but you probably won't do that."
"Yes! Although it is only right for children to pay their fathers' debts, this matter is a mess."
But I'm not that magnanimous to swallow this insult.
“Seal them!” Aaron sighed. “I have a jar of Wei Zheng’s, which I used to seal the God of Thunder and the God of Trickery inside with Gaius’s blood, and then buried in the endless sea of stars.”
As for when they can be released... here's another curse: only when one person inside the jar dies can the other be freed.
"Hiss!" Loki gasped. "That's too vicious!"
"Wait, I don't quite understand." Thor was completely bewildered. "What did we do wrong that you want to seal us away?"
"Because you are Odin's sons, I have no one else who can threaten him but you."
Frigga might count, but... she's probably dying soon too, there's no need to make someone who's about to die suffer like this.
"Um... just to emphasize, I was adopted," Loki said timidly, raising his hand.
"So the time has come to test your brotherhood," Aaron said meaningfully. "If you're not blood brothers, killing each other won't leave you with much of a psychological burden... I guess!"
Loki opened his mouth. "Is that what you meant?"
"If you've sealed him away, then don't seal me away!"
"Loki, what do you mean by this?"
"Don't misunderstand, it doesn't mean anything, it's just the literal meaning."
“You two calm down first.” Aaron snapped his fingers and once again infused the ice sculpture with the power of the Rat Talisman. “Before testing your brotherhood, it’s necessary to put your father-son relationship with Odin to the test one last time.”
If it's truly a deep father-son bond, then perhaps brotherly love wouldn't need to be tested.
