Chapter 2707 The Mad City Lord's Love-Hate Relationship 29
Three days later.
The forbidden pavilion, which had been calm for only a few days, was once again thrown into violent turmoil.
Several ancient and powerful jars shattered simultaneously, shaking the entire city lord's mansion!
The ghost generals and soldiers patrolling the mansion were very puzzled and nervous. City Lord Yin Chaosheng had been in charge of the ghost city for hundreds of years. He had always taken a laissez-faire attitude towards these jars that sealed the extremely evil ghost kings, and he would not bother them as long as they did not break the seal and cause trouble.
Why has the city lord been so concerned about the sealing of this pavilion ever since Lord Jinchen arrived, even personally reinforcing the seal?
Until the patrolling ghost soldiers happened to pass by the vicinity of the pavilion.
Suddenly, the heavy door to the attic was kicked open from the inside with a loud "bang!" Immediately afterwards, a figure strode out.
A tall figure stepped out. Jin Chen was still wearing the same blue robe, but the hem of the robe was stained with some dust and unknown stains. However, he did not look disheveled at all, but instead added a touch of unruliness.
What made all the ghost soldiers and generals stare in disbelief was that their city lord, Yin Chaosheng, whose strength was unfathomable, whose temperament was unpredictable, and who could make ten thousand ghosts bow down with a wave of his hand, was actually being carried horizontally in Jin Chen's arms!
Yin Chaosheng's crimson robe was somewhat disheveled, his dark hair was loose, and his stunningly beautiful face showed weariness. He leaned softly against Jin Chen's chest, his arms weakly wrapped around Jin Chen's neck. He looked... unusually docile and even... weak.
It was as if I had gone through a tremendous ordeal; I didn't even have the strength to move a finger.
The patrolling ghost generals and soldiers stared in disbelief at the scene, nearly dropping their weapons.
They collectively gouged out their eyes, wiped them, and then put them back in, but they still hadn't misread anything.
Their city lords were incredibly powerful, regarding all living beings as mere ants.
She's so cute and cuddly.
In less than half a day, various versions of the rumors spread like wildfire throughout the ghost town:
From the very beginning, "What?! Did you see that? The City Lord was being carried out of the attic by Lord Jin Chen!"
It quickly evolved into, "Shocking secret! The city lord was so exhausted by Lord Jin Chen that he couldn't get out of bed and couldn't even walk; he had to be carried around!"
Then came something even more outrageous: "According to informed sources, Lord Jin Chen is in high spirits, and the city lord hasn't stepped out of his bedchamber for three days!"
"..."
The rumors grew increasingly outrageous, gradually evolving into all sorts of erotic and suggestive speculations.
The two main characters in the incident were completely unaware of what was happening.
-
Jin Chen was completely unaware of the uproar and rumors circulating about his romantic affair with Yin Chaosheng.
He carried the unsteady-breathing, trembling Yin Chaosheng in his arms, and walked through the empty, gloomy corridor into the bedroom.
They had just come out of the jar that sealed the scene of the palace.
Unlike the solemn and majestic imperial palace in the mortal world, and also quite different from the eerie and mysterious mansion of the ghost city lord, the imperial palace in that jar was a chilling and deathly stillness that penetrated to the bone.
Each palace resembled an abandoned, desolate palace, its vermilion paint peeling, its curtains tattered, and an atmosphere of deathly silence and sorrow pervading the air.
Jin Chen initially thought that the vengeful ghost imprisoned in the jar might be connected to the human dynasty.
But once inside, he suddenly realized that the source of the jar was not an external object, but rather the deep-seated fear within Yin Chaosheng's heart.
Deep within the illusion, they saw the dying emperor of their dynasty.
A mortal emperor who should have no connection with Yin Chaosheng, who had reigned in the ghost city for hundreds of years.
Yin Chaosheng's reaction was truly strange. His ghostly aura surged violently, his scarlet pupils shrank to pinpoints, and the murderous aura he unleashed almost tore the entire illusion apart.
For the first time, Jin Chen saw such an out-of-control, near-collapse-on-the-edges inhuman state in him.
Pulling his thoughts back, Jin Chen lowered his eyes and placed Yin Chaosheng on the bed. He was immediately embraced tightly around the neck, not allowed to leave even for a moment.
Yin Chaosheng's crimson robe was spread out on the dark bedding, like a poisonous thorny flower suddenly blooming in the dark night.
He looked up at Jin Chen, his stunning face filled with an almost obsessive longing, his eyes unfocused, as if he were eager to break free from painful memories.
"Kiss me..." Yin Chaosheng's voice was low and hoarse as he offered his cool lips, rubbing them together and begging for Jin Chen's kisses and comfort.
Jin Chen's eyes darkened slightly. She obediently leaned down and kissed him tenderly, her lips penetrating his cold, lingering mouth.
His palm gently caressed Yin Chaosheng's supple waistline, then lingered on the back of his delicate neck, pressing with his fingertips.
A satisfied sigh escaped Yin Chaosheng's throat as he leaned even more limply against Jin Chen.
Suddenly, Yin Chaosheng seemed to think of something extremely unsettling.
The Netherworld Flower, which had not appeared for a long time, sprouted new stamens, from which countless dark red threads quickly spread and intertwined, weaving an impenetrable cocoon around them in the blink of an eye.
"You're not allowed to leave." Yin Chaosheng buried his face in Jin Chen's neck, his voice so soft it was almost a whisper.
Jin Chen stopped kissing him, lowered her head and kissed the corner of his reddened eyes. "I won't leave, I'll stay here."
Yin Chaosheng raised his head, his inhuman, red and black pupils staring intently at Jin Chen, as if trying to see through the depths of his soul.
He seemed to be talking to himself, "You are human."
When Yin Chaosheng said those words, they sounded strangely bitter and powerless: "You are human...you will walk."
He racked his brains but couldn't think of any other way to truly keep this person in check.
Jin Chen is too strong, so strong that even he, the lord of Ghost City, cannot forcibly keep him here.
If we can't keep them... what can we do?
A near-desperate possessiveness grew wildly in his heart.
He kissed Jin Chen's eyebrows, nose, and the old scar on the side of his neck that had long since healed, leaving only faint marks. He looked unusually docile, but deep in his eerie pupils surged a near-destructive, insane obsession.
"I can keep you here, Jinchen..."
Yin Chaosheng's pale fingertips gently brushed across Jin Chen's brow, the Ghost-Seeking Seal he had personally planted. His voice was soft yet chilling.
Jin Chen neither dodged nor refuted, but lowered her head and kissed his sensitive earlobe, fully accepting all his uneasy, paranoid, and crazy emotions.
Jin Chen reached out and gently covered Yin Chaosheng's burning eyes with her palm, whispering, "Yes, I know, go to sleep."
Beneath his palm, Yin Chaosheng's eyelashes trembled violently, like the wings of a startled butterfly.
After a few moments of silence, he suddenly raised his hand and pulled Jin Chen's hand down.
The vulnerability and unease he felt just moments before seemed like an illusion. His eyes once again sparkled with a captivating, alluring smile. He lifted his foot and playfully rubbed his toe against Jin Chen's calf. He then nestled into Jin Chen's arms as if he had no bones, whispering sweet nothings in his ear and wrapping his arms around Jin Chen's lean waist.
"Ghosts don't need to sleep."
Jin Chen raised an eyebrow, then turned to lie down on her side, pulling Yin Chaosheng close to her. She casually twirled a strand of his dark hair with her fingertips, her tone slightly teasing, "You're quite healthy."
Yin Chaosheng was completely unaware that danger was about to descend again, and he had forgotten how he had begged for mercy after playing with fire in the jar. Instead, he took advantage of the situation and gently licked Jin Chen's palm. Then he looked up, his eyes sparkling, and breathed a soft breath, his voice sweet and cloying.
"Yes, the Ghost King's energy is naturally excellent..."
