Chapter 2758 Transmigrated to a Noble Academy as a Special Admission Student (42)
After sleeping with Ling Yao for about two hours, Jin Chen got up, tucked him in, and placed a light kiss on the top of his head.
Downstairs in the living room, Sith was lounging on the large sofa, bored out of his mind. He swiped his fingers across the virtual screen to look at the sheet music, but his eyes kept glancing toward the stairwell.
Upon hearing footsteps, he immediately sprang to his feet, quickly retreating behind the sofa, revealing only his wary eyes.
How are you feeling? Have you fully recovered?
God knows how much psychological trauma Jin Chen suffered that day at the treatment room door, witnessing him beat Colonel Fleming and his adjutant to a pulp with his bare hands. He was weak, pitiful, but handsome.
Jin Chen walked to the island counter, poured himself a cup of black coffee, and nodded. "It's alright. Is there something you need?"
Sith observed his expression, and only after confirming that his eyes were clear did he completely relax and plop back down on the sofa.
He scratched his short blond hair, hesitated for a moment, a hint of struggle on his face, and after several moments he finally made up his mind, taking out a palm-sized notebook and pen.
“Ah Yao said he likes you a lot, and you like him too, we all know that.” Sith opened his notebook, rested his chin on the pen cap, and frowned deeply, as if he were pondering some cosmic problem, finally asking the question that had been lingering in his mind for almost half a month.
"So I have a question for you: what exactly is true liking?"
Jin Chen, holding a coffee cup, leaned against the counter. Upon hearing this, she looked up at him with a surprised expression.
If I remember correctly, the most famous gossip about this art genius in the academy is that the beautiful ladies-in-waiting around Master Sith change every few months, and they never repeat.
“Young Master Sith,” Jin Chen teased, “do you need to ask me this question?”
Sith's expression became even more serious, even somewhat bitter and resentful. "I know what you're talking about, but it's different. Those people are all pretty good-looking, and having them around is pleasing to the eye. They can even inspire my artistic creativity, but I don't like them!"
He tilted his pen and tapped the notebook, emphasizing, "I just appreciate it, you know? Like appreciating a painting or a piece of music, that's how I see them too, but I like them... What exactly does it feel like to like something?"
Jin Chen raised an eyebrow, understanding dawning on her.
No wonder in the original storyline, Sith's interest in Eric came and went quickly, and their breakup was so easy.
These young aristocrats, who grew up at the top of the ivory tower, such as Sith and Lin Baiyu, may be exceptionally talented, but they don't quite understand the emotional realm that requires giving and two-way communication.
“The fact that you can ask this question usually means that you already have someone in mind, but you’re not sure yet, or you’re afraid to admit it.”
Upon hearing this, the image of Shi Heng immediately came to mind.
That calm and collected person would bring him milk when he stayed up all night composing music, patiently comfort him when he was anxious because of a lack of inspiration, and remember all his little preferences and bad habits...
Shi Heng.
Before Sith could recover from his epiphany, he heard Jin Chen say, "It's him."
Sith was startled and looked up at Jin Chen, looking flustered as if his thoughts had been read.
"I haven't told you who it is yet!"
Jin Chen shrugged, her tone indifferent, "But you're thinking about him."
Sith was shocked, feeling as if a new world had opened up for him.
So... are people in love all this amazing?!
No wonder A Yao is completely under Jin Chen's thumb, so obedient.
As Jin Chen spoke, he opened his personal terminal, which he hadn't logged into for several days. He swiped his finger, filtering through the pile of messages he hadn't checked in the past few days. When he saw the few messages that Shi Heng had sent half an hour ago, a barely perceptible smile appeared on his lips.
So it was these two.
He wouldn't mind letting Sith find a new partner before being affected by the plot, thus completely killing Eric's protagonist aura.
Jin Chen raised his head, looked at Sith who was still lost in thought, and said, "Young Master Sith?"
"Huh?" Sith snapped out of his daze and smiled a little embarrassedly. "You're a captain now, no need to be so polite, just call me Sith."
Jin Chen nodded, tapped the terminal screen a few times, long-pressed to delete the first few messages from Shi Heng, leaving only the last three, and then turned the screen towards Xi Si.
He then quipped meaningfully, "Perhaps soon you'll be able to ask Shi Heng for advice on this very question."
Sith leaned closer to look at the screen, puzzled.
Shi Heng: Jin Chen, sorry to bother you, Xi Si is probably in seclusion in the studio creating something and hasn't seen the message.
Shi Heng: Could you please tell him when it's convenient that I have an appointment this afternoon, and I might have to reschedule my promise to accompany him to the concert venue for inspection until tomorrow?
Shi Heng: Thank you.
Dating?
Is Shi Heng going on a date?
Who are you going on a date with?!
Sis's mind went blank as he recalled how, a few days ago, Shi Heng had half-jokingly, half-seriously mentioned that his family might arrange a marriage for him, and even asked him for his advice...
Could it be... could it be that Shi Heng wasn't joking, and that he's really going on a blind date? And he's doing it so quickly!
If we go on a date today, will the next step be engagement, marriage, or even a formal marriage?
Sith's breath caught in his throat, and his chest ached with a tightness.
Before he could even think it through, his body reacted before his brain could. He stood up from the sofa, not even bothering to say goodbye to Jin Chen, and walked absentmindedly toward the door.
Just as she reached the entrance, she almost bumped into Lin Baiyu, who was about to enter.
"Where are you going, looking so lost?" Lin Baiyu reached out to support the staggering Sith, his cool voice filled with doubt.
Sith grabbed Lin Baiyu's arm and asked urgently, "Baiyu! You went out with Shi Heng? Do you know where he went? Who did he go on a date with? Why so suddenly?"
A faint smile crossed Lin Baiyu's handsome brows as he coughed lightly. "After we parted ways at the base, Shi Heng received a call from home. The caller seemed to be from our academy as well, and they must have gone to Cloud Island."
Cloud Island!
Sith's heart sank; Cloud Island was a well-known dating spot near their academy.
Sith felt a sense of panic about being abandoned, as if he were soaking in a large bucket of lemon juice, sour and about to spoil.
He had no idea he could be so jealous!
Without thinking about anything else, he hurriedly said "I understand" to Lin Baiyu, then pushed open the villa door and ran out.
Lin Baiyu watched Sith's figure disappear outside the courtyard, couldn't help but chuckle softly, and shook his head.
He turned and walked into the living room, and when he saw Jin Chen leisurely leaning against the island counter drinking coffee, the smile on his face faded a little.
"I'm sorry." Lin Baiyu said, his tone returning to its usual coldness, but upon closer listening, it seemed to carry a hint of relief and calm.
This apology carries a profound meaning.
It was an apology for the inappropriate confession on the starship, and also for the plan decided together with Ling Yao.
"What about Yao?" Lin Baiyu asked again. "Is he alright?"
Jin Chen looked up at him, her expression unchanged, still with that aloof and indifferent look. "He's sleeping."
Lin Baiyu breathed a sigh of relief, nodded, and spoke in a businesslike tone, completely drawing a line between them. "Okay, I'll come back to get a document; I need to go back to the military headquarters immediately."
"The awarding ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I'll be waiting for you there."
Jin Chen nodded slightly. "Mm."
Lin Baiyu didn't say anything more, turned around and went upstairs to his floor.
Jin Chen then returned to the fourth floor.
As soon as he pushed open the bedroom door, Ling Yao rushed into his arms with a joyful air.
Ling Yao had clearly been awake for a while, had taken a shower, his hair was still damp, and his eyes were full of relaxed smiles.
"Did you hear that?" Jin Chen caught Ling Yao, who was clinging to him like a koala, and lifted him up a little by supporting his hips.
Ling Yao nodded vigorously, his eyes sparkling, and leaned in to give Jin Chen a loud kiss on the lips, his tone cheerful, "I heard that, this is the best!"
He hugged Jin Chen's neck tightly, buried his face in the crook of her neck and rubbed it against her, "Bai Yu is a very good friend."
Jin Chen smiled and patted his back reassuringly.
Ling Yao felt extremely comfortable being stroked, and he completely collapsed onto Jin Chen, his cheek pressed against his warm skin. He took several deep breaths, a look of utter satisfaction on his face, and swung his dangling legs.
"Go to the military headquarters tomorrow, and you'll be a full captain."
Ling Yao looked up, his eyes curving into crescents. "So, should I call you 'Commander' from now on, Captain Jin Chen?"
Jin Chen raised an eyebrow noncommittally, picked him up and walked to the bedside, teasing, "I was able to pick up this military rank thanks to Young Master's kindness."
"Otherwise, how would I have had the opportunity to penetrate deep behind enemy lines, get up close to so many alien bandits, and accumulate practical combat experience?"
Ling Yao could easily hear the teasing in his words, but being held in his arms felt so comfortable that he felt like he was melting.
He grunted twice and muttered under his breath, "Sir, don't mention that matter again."
