Chapter 2863 Why Does My Wife Follow Me Every Day? 22
In Tan Quan's room, Song Cun sat leaning against the headboard, his face still a little pale, but he looked to be in good spirits.
Tan Quan sat on the edge of the bed, holding a glass of water and feeding him.
Upon seeing Jin Chen and Yun Jian enter, Song Cun struggled to sit up straight, but Jin Chen gestured that it wasn't necessary.
"Boss Jin, Boss Yun, thank you."
Jin Chen walked over, pulled a chair to the side of the bed, and just as he sat down, Yun Jian sat down in his lap.
He gave Songcun a loose hug and asked, "How are you feeling?"
"It's okay, but I'm still a little dizzy."
Songcun said, then looked at Yun Jian with gratitude in his eyes, "Boss Yun, thank you for taking care of me before, and... for saving me."
Sitting in his lover's lap, Yun Jian said calmly, "It's only right."
Jin Chen's gaze swept between the two of them before she asked, "Do you two really have a relationship where you asked each other to take care of each other?"
Yun Jian blinked. In any case, he had already told a lot of the truth today, so there was no need to hide this matter.
"No." He was afraid that Jin Chen would feel that he was hiding too much, so he gently pinched Jin Chen's fingertips and scratched them, as if he were being affectionate.
“I do know his brother, but I helped Songcun because I recognized his identity and wanted to gain something from it.”
Song Cun sighed softly, "If it's Boss Yun, I can give you my share too."
With Zero Egg absent and 999 lacking sufficient access to the original storyline, Jin Chen was utterly confused and directly asked, "Can you tell me now? What exactly happened?"
Songcun and Tan Quan exchanged a glance.
Songcun took a deep breath, slowly began to speak, and told his story.
Songcun is also a staff member of the underground boxing ring, but because he is human and by chance has some connection with a big boss behind the scenes, he is able to find a relatively easy job there, mainly responsible for accounting and organizing customer information.
It was this job that led him to inadvertently come into contact with things he shouldn't have known: illegal gene auctions and orc trading.
The jackals kidnapped Songcun and demanded to know the whereabouts of the files, but Songcun remained stubborn and refused to say anything.
“Hyena…that’s Tan Quan,” Song Cun glanced at Tan Quan, who immediately stood up straight, looking very reliable.
“He was one of Jackal’s men at the time, but he didn’t actually agree with Jackal’s crazy plans. He helped me a few times in private. Later, when Jackal wanted to kill me, he helped me escape.”
So Tan Quan betrayed the jackals and helped Song Cun escape.
The two barely escaped, only to be caught by the jackals and drugged.
This is why Songcun suffers from amnesia, and Tan Quan becomes a teenager.
“The drug took effect when we escaped to the vicinity,” Songcun said, his voice lowering. “When I woke up again, I was already in your shop.”
"I was afraid it wouldn't be safe to carry that document with me, so I hid it in the base of an abandoned flowerpot at Boss Yun's flower shop."
Song Cun looked at Yun Jian apologetically, "I'm sorry, Boss Yun, I touched your things without permission and caused you so much trouble."
Yun Jian replied calmly, "I know, it's with me."
Songcun: "..."
Song Cun then looked at Jin Chen, his expression turning serious. "Boss Jin, Jackal is a fanatical and ruthless man; he won't give up until he achieves his goal. I escaped, but I didn't get the information. He definitely won't let this go easily; he might be targeting you."
Yun Jian suddenly let out a very soft, cold laugh, "He dares."
"If you take action against someone you shouldn't, you must be prepared to pay the price."
Tan Quan subconsciously shrank his neck, and Song Cun also felt the invisible pressure and wisely shut his mouth.
Jin Chen glanced at Yun Jian, patted the back of his hand to signal him to calm down, and then said to Song Cun and Tan Quan, "You two just stay here and rest. Yun Jian and I will handle the rest."
-
After that day, the jackals surprisingly didn't cause any more trouble. The flower shop and coffee shop continued to operate as usual, and pedestrians came and went on the street.
The weather was fine that afternoon.
Yun Jian sat at a table by the window in the flower shop, pruning newly cultivated flower branches with scissors in her hand.
The vase on the table held several freshly cut flowers, mostly in light colors. On the corner of the table was a special bouquet of flowers, its color a gradient from deep red to wine red, with layers of petals, like roses, but more dazzling and noble.
A customer came into the store; he was a young man with a backpack and looked like a student from a nearby university.
He circled around the flower stand, somewhat undecided, and then walked over to Yun Jian and asked, "Boss, I want to give this to my girlfriend. Do you have any recommendations? It needs to be in good condition."
Yun Jian looked up, put down the scissors, and smiled gently. "If you're giving this to your girlfriend, you could look at the peonies over there, or lisianthus, or red roses; they'd all be quite suitable."
The male guest looked in the direction he was pointing, then turned back and his gaze fell on the unusual bouquet of flowers on the corner of the table.
"What kind of flower is that?" he asked curiously. "It's so beautiful."
"I'll take this one. Wrap it up, how much?"
Yun Jian's smile faded slightly. "I'm sorry, this is not for sale. You can choose other items; I can recommend a few..."
"Not for sale?" The male customer frowned, clearly dissatisfied. "Isn't it for sale just because it's displayed here? I'll pay double the price for this."
As he spoke, he reached out to take the bouquet of flowers for a closer look.
Yun Jian raised his hand and gently blocked his hand.
“I said,” his voice was still gentle, but his smile had completely vanished, “I’m not selling.”
"If you choose something else, I can give you a 30% discount."
The male customer was stunned for a moment, his expression showing some embarrassment. He had clearly never encountered such a disrespectful shopkeeper before. Just as he was about to lash out, the door of the flower shop was suddenly pushed open.
Jin Chen walked in.
Seeing the situation in the shop, he smiled and asked, "What happened?"
“I want to buy this bouquet,” the male customer said, pointing to the bouquet on the corner of the table. “Damn it, the owner won’t sell it to me. I’m offering double the price, and he still won’t sell it. How can you do business like this?”
Jin Chen followed his finger and looked at the bouquet of flowers for a second before turning to Yun Jian.
Yun Jian looked at him, her eyes filled with a barely perceptible sense of grievance.
Jin Chen's lips curled into a smile.
"This bouquet of flowers was indeed reserved by the owner for his personal use and is not for sale."
"So, if you make any purchase at the store today, you can get a free iced Americano at the coffee shop next door by showing your receipt."
The male customer's eyes lit up. "Really?"
“Really,” Jin Chen said. “I own the coffee shop next door.”
"Okay then, I'll take this one."
Yun Jian silently and quickly helped her pack it up, gave her a 30% discount, and handed her the receipt.
The male customer took the flowers and the receipt and happily went next door.
The door closed again, and the shop became quiet once more.
Yun Jian looked at Xiao Ye at the door and said, "Xiao Ye, there's nothing to do this afternoon. Pack your things and you can have the day off."
Xiao Ye was stunned for a moment, then became happy, "Really? Thank you, boss!"
She quickly packed her things, and before leaving, she thoughtfully closed the flower shop door and hung up the "Closed for Business" sign.
Only Yun Jian and Jin Chen remained in the shop.
Jin Chen walked to the table, sat down in a chair on the other side, propped his elbows on the table, rested his chin on his hand, and looked at Yun Jian with a smile, "Boss Yun, why did you suddenly close the shop? Are you not doing business anymore?"
