Chapter 1043 Fragments
At night, Zijing did not feel restful even after falling asleep.
He had a strange dream in which his whole body was shattered and he was floating in a dark space, with an unknown and invisible energy passing through his body.
Zijing's heartbeat echoed in the darkness, and he felt his consciousness being pulled by an invisible force, as if he was being drawn into a bottomless abyss. In this dream, he was no longer himself, but pieces of broken light and shadow that could not condense into shape.
The surrounding darkness was like thick ink, swallowing up all light and sound. Zijing tried to shout, but the sound seemed to be swallowed by the darkness and there was no echo. He felt that his fragments were floating aimlessly in the void, and every drift was accompanied by a deep sense of powerlessness.
Suddenly, a cold "wind" blew from an unknown corner. It had no direction, no temperature, just pure existence. This "wind" seemed to be looking for something. It shuttled between the fragments of Amethyst. Every time it passed by, Amethyst felt an indescribable fear. This fear did not come from the "wind" itself, but from the unknown and profoundness that the "wind" carried.
The fragments of Amethyst began to tremble, as if they were responding to some call, trying to regroup. But every time they were about to condense, the "wind" would appear again and blow them away. Amethyst felt that she was imprisoned in this endless cycle and could not escape.
In this dream, time seemed to have lost its meaning. Zijing didn't know how long it had been, he just felt his existence becoming weaker and weaker, as if he could be completely swallowed up by the darkness at any time. He began to yearn for light, longing for sound, longing for anything that could prove that he still existed.
Just when he was about to give up, a faint light suddenly appeared in the distance. It was so faint that it could hardly penetrate the surrounding darkness. But to Amethyst, that light was like a spark of hope, and he used all his strength to make his fragments float towards that light.
The light gradually grew brighter, its warmth and radiance beginning to dispel the surrounding darkness. The fragments of Amethyst began to slowly gather towards the light, and when the last fragment merged into the light, Amethyst felt itself reunited into a complete being.
The boy was finally able to breathe deeply, but when he looked back, he found that he had not actually escaped. Another "Amethyst" was left behind, caught by the "wind" that came in from outside.
……
"Wake up, wake up!"
At dawn, A-110 was already patting Zijing's cheek anxiously, trying to wake him up. The boy was sweating all over and seemed to be trying hard to wake up, but his eyelids seemed to be locked and difficult to open.
"...!"
A-110 got anxious and accidentally used too much force, knocking Amethyst away with such great force that she hit the wall of the room and slowly slid down.
"!!!"
A-110 quickly got out of bed and ran over, shaking the boy, whose expression had become peaceful.
“Ouch, it hurts…!”
Zijing opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was A-110, who was so anxious that tears were about to flow. After thinking about it for a while, she understood how she escaped from that real nightmare.
Although half of her face had lost feeling and seemed to be swollen, Zijing still touched the girl's head and gave her a thumbs up: "Good job!"
"?"
A-110 became even more anxious, thinking that he had damaged his brain.
After being comforted by Zijing, A-110 finally calmed down. However, he still felt a little embarrassed when he saw the other party applying ice to his face.
"Does it still hurt?"
"Hiss...it doesn't hurt!"
"Well, your expression doesn't say that... I'm sorry..."
"Apologizing again...Okay, as punishment, you will make breakfast later. Just toast. It's very simple."
"Yeah... Yeah! Leave it to me!"
Dozens of minutes later, A-110 successfully brought the buttered toast to the table. She carefully placed the plate in front of Zijing, with anticipation and a hint of nervousness on her face.
"I tried my best," she whispered, uncertainty in her voice, "I hope you like it."
"As long as you follow the steps I teach you strictly, there will be no problem."
Amethyst held the ice pack in her right hand and the fork in her left hand, which felt a little awkward.
A-110 looked at him and swallowed unconsciously.
"What about your share?"
"I forgot...but it's okay, I'm not hungry!"
"Don't be so stubborn. Here, I'll give you a small piece."
A-110 opened his mouth subconsciously, but it was quickly blocked by a mouthful of bread. He covered his mouth with his hands, chewed, and looked at Zijing in confusion.
"Okay, now that we're done, make me another portion, Chef A-110." Putting the fork back on the empty plate, Amethyst said to her with a smile.
“Chew chew chew…ok…”
After the meal, the swelling on Zijing's face had just disappeared. He touched it and found that fortunately, his physique was not that of an ordinary person, otherwise he would not be able to go out for the next few days.
After asking A-110 to look after the house, Amethyst left her residence to look for Amber, while also thinking about asking Otto to extend her vacation.
On the way, Zijing recalled the nightmare she had just had. It was a terrible feeling. Having experienced it once, she definitely didn't want to experience it again. It was inexplicably realistic, as if everything in the dream had affected reality, and a part of her soul was really left in that darkness.
Shaking her head, Zijing threw away all the fear and irritability in her heart. It was just a dream, nothing serious, so don't scare yourself.
Amber's residence was very close to her workplace. Amethyst walked for about twenty minutes and arrived at her door and knocked.
Soon, Amber, wearing home clothes, came to open the door. When she saw Amethyst, she was slightly startled and then invited him in.
"Is there a problem?"
Amber poured a cup of black tea for Amethyst, and then waited aside as she usually did when working.
"I want to ask about your future plans."
"Help Lord Otto with his work."
"Besides work?"
"..."
Amber shook her head, confused about Amethyst's purpose in coming here, "If you have something to say, just say it directly. If there is anything I can help with, I won't refuse."
"It's okay, just come and sit down, there's something wrong at home."
"Ok?"
"The kitchen exploded."
"That's really bad... then?"
"It's a mess, so I thought I'd stay here for a while until the cleanup crew finishes cleaning it up."
Zijing lied very naturally without blushing or getting nervous.
"In that case... it's fine, but I have to go to Lord Otto in half an hour."
Amber did not doubt him, after all, they were colleagues who had worked together for many years.
"You're really hardworking. It's okay, don't worry about me, I'll help you close the door when you leave."
"..."
