Chapter 1125 Open the door
On the border of Siberia, in an abandoned cabin in the mountains, four girls were sitting around a fire, the firelight illuminating their rosy little faces.
They were all wearing thick cotton-padded jackets, and everyone huddled together like a bunch of little dumplings.
"Aurora, I'm so hungry..." Bella rubbed her stomach, with a hint of grievance in her voice, as if she was trying hard to resist hunger.
"Bella, didn't you just finish eating half a pig's trotter? Why are you hungry so soon?" Aurora frowned slightly, with a hint of helplessness in her tone.
"After all, three hours have passed! Of course I'm hungry..." Bella smiled innocently and made excuses for her greed.
"Um... Bella, I still have some pork left, do you want it?" Galina's voice was soft and a little hesitant. She stretched out her hands slightly and handed out a small box, and inside it was the spare food she had been keeping.
"Ah, thank you, Galina!" Bella's eyes lit up and a bright smile appeared on her face. She quickly took the small box, took out the pork and put it into her mouth.
"Um... you're welcome..." Galina lowered her head slightly, a faint blush appearing on her face, and she seemed a little embarrassed.
"Hey, do we really have to keep waiting here? Several days have passed! Xilin only left us a little bit of food. If she and her brother don't come back, we'll have to go out and find food soon." Agata's brows were furrowed, and her tone was filled with anxiety and uneasiness. She glanced out the window, and all she saw was a desolate scene, with only snow-covered mountains and forests within her sight.
"Agata, if you want to leave, just go, just like everyone else, it's okay. But I have to keep waiting, after all, Xilin promised that she and her brother will definitely come back!" A gust of cold wind blew, Aurora wrapped her coat tightly, not wanting to choose to leave.
"Well, Xilin will not go back on her word. I believe she and her brother will be back soon!" Galina also said softly.
"Hmm... Me too. Xilin sent us to this strange place. If we were to separate, I don't know what to do next. If my brother were here, he would definitely find a new direction for us!" Bella spoke incoherently while also chewing on pork.
"Damn it, who said I was leaving? Really, I didn't say I didn't trust them... I just wanted to prepare in advance. What if they are late? How are we going to find food nearby?" Agata grabbed her fiery red hair and added some firewood to the fire in annoyance.
"There is little snow here, and there are forests... maybe we can catch wild boars?" Galina's voice was soft, but her idea was bold.
"But are the four of us really stronger than the wild boar?" Bella scratched her head unconsciously, imagining the scene of the huge wild boar knocking the four of them flying one by one.
"We can make a trap, dig a hole, and then the four of us can drive the wild boar into the hole together..." Aurora suggested.
"I hope the wild boar won't charge directly at us..." Galina prayed.
"Ahahaha..." Several people laughed awkwardly.
Whoosh———
It was late at night, and the cold wind outside kept knocking on the fragile door and windows of the wooden house, making a "clicking" sound.
The four girls were just about to fall asleep like they had done the previous few nights when they heard the slight sound of footsteps in the snow outside the door.
Although the sound was wrapped in the sound of the wind, the four girls in the room were able to clearly distinguish it.
After all, in their previous laboratory life, they had often heard the researchers' terrifying footsteps in the silent night.
Agata immediately stood up from the ground, her hand tightly grasped the stick beside her, and looked towards the door vigilantly. Her heartbeat accelerated, and various possible situations flashed through her mind quickly. Was it a wild animal or a person approaching? She whispered to the other girls: "Everyone be careful, it could be a wild animal, or it could be..."
Galina also quickly picked up a stick from the ground. Her body was shaking slightly, but her eyes were extremely firm. She stood beside Agatha, ready to respond to any possible danger at any time. "He stopped and stood outside the door."
Bella wrapped herself tightly in her clothes, curled up into a ball, with a hint of fear in her eyes. But she didn't scream or cry, but tried to calm herself down and try not to make any noise to avoid attracting attention from outside. Bella whispered, "What should we do?"
Aurora was the calmest one. She slowly stood up and walked to the window. "Don't act rashly. Let's see what's going on first."
As she spoke, she gently lifted a corner of the tattered curtain and looked out.
The outside of the window was shrouded in thick darkness, but with the help of the faint light from the fire in the house, Aurora could still barely see the general outline of the uninvited guest outside.
"It's a human." Aurora said.
"That's great, it's not a beast..." Bella breathed a sigh of relief.
"Are they coming here to capture us?" Galina was pessimistic.
"How is it possible? Weren't all those guys in the lab killed by Xilin and her brother?" Agata clenched the wooden stick and walked to the door. As soon as the other party came in, she would hit them with the stick without mercy.
"Maybe it's just some ordinary person who got lost in the mountains?" Aurora guessed. But no matter what, the four girls didn't want to let outsiders in.
After waiting for a few minutes, the girls remained silent until the person outside finally couldn't bear it anymore and spoke. It was a trembling male voice: "Excuse me, is there anyone inside? I'm an explorer and I don't know where to go. I hope to stay in this house temporarily tonight... Don't worry, I will pay you!"
"…Aurora, what should we do?"
Bella looked to Aurora for help again, and the other girls also sought her advice.
But Aurora was also very conflicted. She didn't want to open the door to a stranger, but from the sound of the man outside, he really sounded like he was about to freeze to death. And if he was someone with bad intentions, how could the small wooden house they were in possibly withstand his destruction?
"Maybe he'll have extra food..."
Aurora chose to open the door, and the other three girls looked at the little food left and also bid for the opening ticket.
"Um, do you have any food on you?" Aurora asked through the door.
"Of course, I have a lot in my bag. If you are willing to open the door and let me in, I can give you everything in my bag."
"..."
"However, as an additional condition of exchange, I would like to ask the girls to come with me."
