Chapter 1245 Failed Disguise
By using her power to manually make her stomach make strange noises, Amethyst (fake Mei) managed to avoid going into the water and stayed behind a large rock nearby.
The only thing that might be damaged is Mei's reputation, but it doesn't matter. I can just explain it clearly later. Now I can just spend the night peacefully.
He slid down against the cold rock, feeling a little mentally exhausted. Listening to the sound of water and the pleasant chatter of Kiana and Theresa not far behind him, he could only try to clear his mind and think about his next steps.
However, God seemed determined to test his heart's endurance today.
Not long after, two more graceful figures came walking along the path. They were Aponya and Eden.
"Oh? Looks like someone got here first." Eden smiled and looked towards the hot spring. His eyes then fell on a small piece of clothing exposed next to a large rock. "Hmm? Isn't that... Miss Mei? Why are you here alone?"
Aponia's gaze drifted over. Her gaze, as always, was calm and profound, as if it could penetrate all appearances. She quietly observed "Mei," who leaned against the rock, seemingly curled up in a ball. She neither spoke in greeting nor looked away. She simply watched, a faint, almost imperceptible smile of understanding playing at the corner of her mouth.
Amethyst heard Eden's voice and was silent for a moment before she could only bite the bullet and lean half of her body out, imitating Mei's tone: "Ms. Eden, Miss Aponia. I feel a little unwell and need to rest here for a while. Kiana and the principal are inside."
"I see." Eden nodded and was about to say something else when she noticed Aponya's unusual silence. She followed Aponya's gaze and looked at Mei again, keenly aware of her friend's all-seeing gaze.
Eden's observation skills were equally impressive. She carefully examined Mei again: the subtle awkwardness of her sitting posture, and Aponya's unusual silence... In a flash, an absurd yet extremely reasonable guess formed in her mind.
Her beautiful eyes widened slightly, and then a hint of amusement flashed across them. She didn't point it out, but the smile on her face became more meaningful.
Only then did Aponya slowly speak, her voice still gentle: "You are not feeling well, and you really should rest properly."
Eden also stepped forward and continued with a smile, "Yes, Miss Mei, just sit still. But..." She changed the subject, her tone carrying a subtle hint of teasing, "Would you really like to consider taking a hot spring bath together? The water temperature seems just right. Perhaps... soaking in it and sweating a little would help some of your 'discomfort' feel better faster?"
Aponia nodded slightly and took a few steps forward. "Or we can ask someone to come and treat you. Coincidentally, there's a doctor in these woods."
"..."
Based on the attitudes of these two people, Zijing (fake Mei) now seriously suspects that they have guessed her identity.
As expected, the mental system was a problem. Even he himself didn't know where his flaws were.
However, the situation wasn't too bad at the moment. Those two weren't holding weapons, like those damned water guns. Perhaps they'd given up on the game midway, or perhaps there was some other reason... Regardless, they could still manage!
I hope they are the kind of pacifists who won't rip people's clothes off...
Suddenly, the sounds of water and laughter from the hot spring stopped. Kiana's curious voice called out, "Huh? Are Eden and Aponia here? And Mei, what are you talking about?"
Before he finished speaking, accompanied by the sound of splashing water, Kiana and Theresa almost simultaneously poked most of their bodies out of the hot spring and looked towards the big rock with curiosity.
The steaming white mist slightly blurred the vision, but the large expanse of snow-white skin, the wet hair sticking to the shoulders and neck, and the defenselessly exposed outline of the youthful body that came into view instantly struck Amethyst's (fake Mei) retina like a bolt of lightning!
"..."
Zijing quickly turned her head, meeting a pair of calm yet penetrating eyes. It was Aponia. She stood there quietly, her eyes calm, yet like a silent judge, she accurately captured his slightest shock and confusion.
This silent gaze made Amethyst feel suffocated and filled with a strong sense of guilt more than any reprimand.
Almost at the same time, Eden, standing by, also noticed Amethyst's momentary loss of composure and Aponya's meaningful gaze. Her beautiful brows knitted ever so slightly, and a subtle hint of displeasure flashed across those eyes that always held artistic and romantic spirits.
Almost subconsciously and naturally, she took a small step forward, skillfully adjusted her stance, and used her body to just block most of Zijing's (fake Mei) sight, separating him from the "overly stimulating" scenery in the direction of the hot spring.
"Nothing, I just happened to see Miss Mei resting here, so I wanted to check in." Eden's voice was still elegant and pleasant, as if the momentary obstruction of her vision was just an unintentional gesture. But she tilted her head slightly, glancing at the stiffened "Mei" behind her from the corner of her eye, and her tone held a subtle, almost imperceptible meaning that only the person involved could discern. "But Miss Mei looks... like she's suddenly 'better'? Her complexion is even a little too rosy."
Aponia didn't look at Amethyst anymore, but instead turned her gaze towards the hot springs. She said to Kiana and Theresa in a calm voice, "Is the water temperature suitable?"
"Ah? Oh! It feels so good!" Kiana seemed completely unaware of what had just happened and answered happily.
Theresa nodded as well, but still looked at "Mei" who was mostly hidden by Eden with some confusion: "Mei, your face is a little red, are you really okay?"
Amethyst's (the fake Mei) gaze now rested on the tiny crack in the ground. The oppressive feeling of Aponya's all-seeing gaze, Eden's elegant yet accusatory gestures and teasing, and that unexpected and impactful glance just now... Never mind. When I wake up tomorrow, I'll just consider today a dream.
Without even glancing towards the hot spring, he replied in a somewhat weak voice, "It's okay... maybe it's just... a little hot... I'll go over there and get some fresh air..."
After saying that, he staggered up from behind the rock and fled deeper into the woods, his back looking in a state of disgrace.
Kiana and Theresa looked at each other in the hot spring.
"Mei is really weird..."
"Yeah...what happened?"
"..."
He was completely unaware that an invisible spiritual wave was emanating from the nun not far away, transmitting the latest information to the distance.
