Chapter 1275 Combination
With the dense array of observation holes on the four walls in place, the anti-entropy monitoring system simultaneously scanned the empty clothing store from multiple angles. Data streams scrolled rapidly across the screen, and Einstein and Walter watched every minute change intently.
Suddenly, in the images transmitted from multiple observation points on the east wall of the shop, a small, unnatural, persistent area of visual occlusion appeared, roughly resembling a humanoid silhouette leaning against the wall!
“As expected…” Einstein said, “It pressed its right side against the wall, using the wall to block our observation from that direction, thus maintaining its ‘invisibility’ status. Attack! Target, east wall, area 1.5 to 1.8 meters high, coverage fire!”
The armed robots, which were already on standby, immediately turned their guns around, and energy beams poured down on the area like a torrential rain!
“Hiss—!!!”
A sharp, piercing wail, completely unlike anything a human could utter, instantly resounded throughout the entire space! Accompanied by the wail, the humanoid creature's figure flickered violently during the attack, forced to reveal itself! It curled up in agony, its slender eyes twisted in excruciating pain.
The revealed monster went berserk, its slender arms lashing out violently, instantly creating invisible yet incredibly sharp wind blades around it, which shot out indiscriminately in all directions! Walls, floors, and even several robots that were too close together were instantly cut with deep marks!
"Watch out!" Welt stepped forward, activating the power of the Herrscher of Reason. Blue energy shields instantly formed, precisely blocking his and Einstein's path. "Bang bang bang!" Several wind blades slammed into the shields, creating ripples, but they couldn't break through.
Taking advantage of the monster's panic due to pain and the moment its attention was diverted by the wind blades, its fatal right side was inadvertently exposed to Walter's frontal view!
"It's now!"
Walter's eyes narrowed, and with a flick of his wrist, a meticulously crafted reconstructed beam gun, shimmering with blue light, instantly materialized. Almost without aiming, a flash of light from the muzzle unleashed a highly concentrated beam of energy, shooting out as if by teleportation, piercing precisely through the skull beneath the slender eye!
The monster's movements abruptly ceased, its wailing stopped as if cut off. It stood frozen in place, its narrow eyes losing their luster, its grayish-white skin rapidly losing its shine, before falling straight backward with a thud onto the ground, its manifested form no longer disappearing.
After the battle ended, Walter and Einstein immediately went forward to examine the monster's corpse, especially its writhing abdomen.
However, before they could get close, the swollen belly suddenly began to heave and writhe violently! It was as if something inside was struggling!
"Back off!" Walter warily constructed a defensive barrier.
The next second—
"Bang!"
A mechanical fist, covered in viscous digestive fluid and with parts of its shell corroded and pitted, suddenly ripped open a large hole in the monster's abdomen and emerged! The viscous, foul-smelling liquid instantly exploded, splashing all over the unsuspecting Walter and Einstein!
"Ugh... what's this smell!" Walter's face turned pale.
Immediately afterwards, a familiar, though disheveled, but powerful voice came from the hole:
"Hahaha! This genius is back!!!"
Before she could finish speaking, a head covered in slime and with red hair plastered to its face popped out. Who else could it be but Tesla? She breathed in the "fresh" air, her face showing the excitement of surviving a disaster and her usual arrogance.
“Tesla!” Einstein looked at his partner, who looked like he had crawled out of an alien nest, and breathed a sigh of relief, but his tone remained calm. “It seems your ‘new invention’ worked well; at least it saved your life.”
Walter wiped the sticky substance from his face, looking at her with a mixture of helplessness and relief: "Tesla... next time, please be sure to tell me your 'backing' beforehand, and absolutely do not take such dangerous actions again!"
Tesla crawled out of the monster's abdomen, disgustedly shaking off the slime on his body, and proudly pointed to the tattered but still recognizable special protective suit he was wearing: "See this! 'Emergency Life Support Field Type III'! My latest masterpiece! It automatically deploys a full-range energy shield and life support system when it senses the wearer losing consciousness or experiencing a sharp decline in vital signs! If it weren't for this thing, I would have been melted by this monster's stomach acid!"
After a brief cleaning, the three began examining the monster's corpse. As Walter carefully dissected the area near its chest cavity, a faint but familiar energy fluctuation emanated from it. He retrieved a strangely structured crystal that shimmered with an unstable light.
"This is... a Herrscher core?" Welt exclaimed in surprise. "Although the energy reaction is weak, the essence is correct... But, can an alien creature become a Herrscher?"
Tesla leaned in, frowning. "Aren't Herrschers weapons of Honkai designed to target civilization and humanity? What's the point of choosing an alien as a Herrscher?"
After a moment of contemplation, Einstein proposed an even more terrifying hypothesis: "Perhaps it wasn't originally an alien being. Look at its basic physical structure; it's still humanoid. Is it possible... that it was originally human, and was 'transformed' into its current form by some unknown means? And that the Herrscher core was 'implanted' or 'adapted' during or after the transformation?"
This conjecture sent a chill down the spines of all three. If this were true, then the previously missing Valkyries might not have been swallowed up, but had met the same fate.
As for Tesla, perhaps it was her invention that hindered the conversion process, leaving her no choice but to destroy the evidence in another way.
Walter looked solemnly at the core in his hand and the monster's corpse on the ground: "In any case, we must immediately synchronize this discovery with Schicksal. This being that can 'transform' humans is an extremely high threat."
He looked at Tesla and emphasized again, "Tesla, your invention did save your life. But promise me, don't take such risks again."
Tesla pursed his lips, but seeing the looks in Walter and Einstein's eyes, he finally gave a reluctant "humph": "I know, I know... Next time... next time I'll remember to make the protective suit more corrosion-resistant!"
The mystery of this city seems to have been partially solved, but the Anti-Entropy team not only didn't relax, but felt even greater pressure. The combination of local and foreign forces might have unexpected consequences.
