This time the starting distance was short and Luke was still on the brakes.

The Escalade's tires are already running at high speed.

Frank from the Detective Bureau came up and exchanged phone numbers with Luke, then left with Chief Taylor.

Before the two of them had gone far, Luke heard the sound of a helicopter overhead.

This was not a media or police plane because they would not fly so low.
