Chapter 1083 Don’t let your family worry?
"Uncle Yi, they are following us." Li Xiangqian said in a low voice.
"I saw it." Yi Zhonghai's expression became even uglier. "Don't panic. Let's not let them see the flaws."
Li nodded forward and forced himself to calm down. He knew that the most important thing now was to stay calm and not let the other party notice their alertness.
The car drove onto a country road, and the people behind followed closely. Li Xiangqian's heart beat faster and faster, and he felt that every time he stepped on the accelerator, his palms would sweat.
"Go forward, there is a fork in the road ahead, we have to find a way to get rid of them." Yi Zhonghai said in a low voice.
Li Xiangqian was driving, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, but Yi Zhonghai's deep voice kept ringing in his ears: "Xiangqian, stay steady, don't panic." Although Yi Zhonghai spoke calmly, Li Xiangqian knew that he was actually very nervous. In the rearview mirror, the shadows of those people never disappeared, like a group of bloodthirsty hounds, chasing closely.
"Uncle Yi, how about we find a place to stop and talk it out with them?" Li Xiangqian asked tentatively.
"Theory?" Yi Zhonghai glared at him. "Do you know who they are? They are not easy to talk to. If we fight, can the two of us beat them?"
Li Xiangqian shut up silently, but he felt a little unwilling in his heart. He was not a fearful person, but he also knew that Yi Zhonghai's words were not without reason. Since these people dared to follow them, they must not be ordinary idlers. A rash confrontation would only make the situation worse.
He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. He knew that now was not the time to be a hero, and the most important thing was to keep the truck. But even so, he was still a little angry. He was usually conscientious and kind, but why did he always run into such trouble?
The car passed a fork in the road, and Yi Zhonghai suddenly patted him on the shoulder: "Go forward, turn right, let's go a longer way."
"Turn right?" Li Xiangqian hesitated, "But that road is not easy to drive on. What if the car breaks down..."
"Don't worry about it!" Yi Zhonghai interrupted him, "We have to get rid of them. Although this road is difficult to walk, they may not dare to catch up with us."
Li Xiangqian gritted his teeth, turned the steering wheel sharply, and the car turned onto the bumpy road. The car body was shaking violently, and Yi Zhonghai held the handrail tightly, and the wrinkles on his face were tightly stretched.
"Move forward, steady, don't flip the car over!" he shouted.
"Got it!" Li Xiangqian answered, gritting his teeth. He held the steering wheel tightly with both hands and stared at the road, fearing that the wheels would fall into the pit accidentally.
Behind the car, the men really hesitated. They stopped at the fork in the road, as if they were discussing whether to continue chasing. Li Xiangqian saw this through the rearview mirror and felt a little relieved, but soon he breathed a sigh of relief again. He knew that this kind of people would not give up easily.
"Uncle Yi, they stopped." He whispered.
"Don't take it lightly." Yi Zhonghai's voice was a little nervous, "We have to hurry and run this section of the road."
The car bumped along the way, but Li Xiangqian's heart became more and more complicated. While he was concentrating on driving, he couldn't help but think about what happened at home. He knew that Zhang Guifang must still be angry, and might even be thinking about how to deal with him. He was not afraid of being scolded, but he knew in his heart that Zhang Guifang was right. Life at home was not easy, but he always caused trouble and made her worry.
"Xiang Qian, what are you thinking about?" Yi Zhonghai's voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
"Nothing." Li Xiangqian shook his head. "I was just wondering if our shipment can be delivered smoothly."
"Don't think too much." Yi Zhonghai patted his shoulder, "Sometimes, you have to concentrate on doing things and don't let those messy thoughts distract you."
Li Xiangqian nodded, but his heart was restless. He recalled Zhang Guifang's eyes, and the disappointment and helplessness made him feel choked up. He knew he was not a competent husband, let alone a qualified man. He always focused on others, but rarely paid attention to his family.
But what can he do? Li Xiangqian sighed. It's not that he doesn't want to take care of his family, but his character makes it impossible for him to stand idly by and watch injustice. He felt that if he didn't even take care of these things, what was the point of living?
The car finally drove out of the bumpy road and the road ahead became flat. Li Xiangqian looked through the rearview mirror and found that the men had not caught up with him. He breathed a sigh of relief and slowly slowed down the car.
"Uncle Yi, we've gotten rid of them." He said with a hint of relief in his voice.
"Good job!" Yi Zhonghai patted his shoulder with a smile on his face, "Thanks to you for this trip, otherwise I really don't know what to do."
Li Xiangqian smiled, but he was not so relieved in his heart. He knew that this was only temporary safety, and there was still a long way to go, so he had to stay vigilant at all times.
The car continued to move forward, and the surrounding scenery gradually became familiar. Li Xiangqian was a little more relaxed, but his mind was still lingering on family matters. He thought that after this job was done, he would have a good talk with Zhang Guifang. He didn't want her to worry about him anymore, nor did he want this family to be in constant quarrels and conflicts.
But then again, can he really change himself? Li Xiangqian smiled bitterly. He felt that he might never be the kind of person Zhang Guifang wanted him to be. He was a stubborn person. He knew that there were some things he shouldn't care about, but he just couldn't help it. He felt that this might be his fate.
Yi Zhonghai seemed to see through his thoughts and suddenly said, "Xiang Qian, I know you have something on your mind. Do you think you shouldn't take this kind of job?"
"No." Li Xiangqian shook his head. "I just feel that I always make my family worry about me, and I feel sorry for them."
"Alas, who doesn't worry their family throughout their lives?" Yi Zhonghai sighed, "But you have to remember to do things with a clear conscience. As long as you feel that you are doing the right thing, your family will understand you sooner or later."
Li Xiangqian didn't say anything, but just nodded silently. He felt that Yi Zhonghai's words might make sense, but he still couldn't let it go completely. He knew that Zhang Guifang's disappointment had not accumulated in a day or two, and he didn't know if he could make up for it.
There was a hint of coolness in the night air, and the courtyard was quiet except for the rustling of leaves in the wind. Li Xiangqian lay on the kang with his eyes wide open, unable to fall asleep.
