Chapter 1583: Cleanup
In the palace conference room, the Den Den Mushi on the round table were of various shapes, some with big round eyes staring, some with their heads tilted, vividly "relaying" everyone's words.
"Captain, you're moving too fast," Wald shouted at the Den Den Mushi at the top of his lungs, the wind whipping through his hair. His Destroyer cut through the waves, the white spray from its hull gleaming in the sun.
"It's not that the captain is fast, it's that you're too slow." Meanwhile, Cloe was sitting on a soft chair in the island's restaurant, the table before him laden with delicious food. He gracefully cut into the steak, his lips curled up slightly as he spoke with a hint of joking.
Hearing Cloe say this about himself, Wald's face immediately turned red, like an enraged bull, and he loudly retorted: "What can I do? My ship is not as fast as yours."
He held the Den Den Mushi tightly in both hands, as if he wanted to vent all his dissatisfaction through this little Den Den Mushi.
"That's not the point. The point is that you're unlucky and drew the farthest island. Haha!" The exaggerated laughter of the evil king Pizarro came from the Den Den Mushi. His laughter was like thunder, shaking the Den Den Mushi slightly.
"Pizarro, you bastard, wait until I get back!" Wald was so angry that he jumped up and down. He waved his fist at the Den Den Mushi, and his eyes seemed to be spitting fire.
"What's wrong with going back? Am I afraid of you?" Pizarro continued to provoke without showing any weakness, his voice full of provocation and disdain.
The two of them were arguing with each other, and the sound in the Den Den Mushi became louder and louder.
Kuro looked at the lively scene, smiled and took a sip of wine. The mellow wine flowed down his throat, making him feel comfortable.
He did not interrupt their quarrel, but quietly enjoyed this moment of relaxation and joy. After all, such happy moments were rare.
"Shut up!" Ryan's voice suddenly exploded in the noise like a thunder, instantly breaking the atmosphere of the fierce quarrel.
Unexpectedly, the response was not silence, but the angry protests of Wald and Pizarro at the same time: "What are you shouting!"
The two voices came into the Den Den Mushi almost at the same time, which made Ryan visibly stunned.
His originally stern face froze instantly, his eyes widened, as if he didn't expect that his scolding would lead to such a result.
Seeing the boss's humiliation, Ah Da and the crew members couldn't help but cover their mouths and laugh. Their red faces and slightly trembling shoulders showed their laughter vividly. Ryan suddenly felt a black line on his head, and his face turned darker than the bottom of a pot.
"You two must practice well during this period. I'm looking forward to seeing you again!" Ryan gritted his teeth and squeezed out these words from between his teeth. His voice was full of threats and unwillingness, as if he wanted to eat these two disobedient guys alive.
The three of them played around for a while longer, their laughter and shouting mingling mingling from time to time over the Den Den Mushi. Kuro sat at the round table in the palace's conference room, a glass of wine in hand, watching the lively scene with a smile, his eyes filled with tolerance and relief.
When the commotion had almost died down, Kuro coughed lightly, cleared his throat, and said, "Okay, everyone, stop making a fuss. Let's confirm the situation of the islands we have each captured." When everyone heard Kuro's words, they all quieted down and began to report their respective situations seriously.
Kuro listened, nodding occasionally as he sorted the information out in his head.
After everyone finished reporting, Kuro stood up and said, "Everyone has done a great job. Next, we will continue to consolidate and expand our sphere of influence according to the plan. Okay, today's Den Den Mushi meeting ends here."
After saying this, he gently patted the Den Den Mushi, ending this joyful and energetic meeting.
After Wald hung up the Den Den Mushi, his expression of anxiety intensified, his brow furrowed so tightly that it looked like it could pinch a fly to death. He whipped around and shouted at the busy crew behind him, "Everyone, find a way to speed this up! We have to reach the target island by tomorrow!" His voice echoed across the deck like thunder.
"Uh... yes, sir!" The crew shuddered at the sudden roar, but quickly reacted and sprang into action. Some ran to the stern, turning the rudder vigorously to adjust the course; others ran to the sails, pulling hard on the ropes to inflate them and use the wind to increase their speed. After a while, the Destroyer's speed did increase slightly, and the ship's hull cut through the sea, leaving streaks of white foam.
The next afternoon, sunlight shimmered across the sea, creating a shimmering surface. Wald held his telescope, his eyes glued to the lens, observing the waters ahead. Suddenly, the target island came into view, a green gem embedded in the blue ocean. "I see! Everyone, prepare for battle!" Wald commanded, his voice firm and commanding.
Upon hearing the order, the crew members sprang into action. They rushed to the armory and gathered their weapons. Some picked up their sharp swords and waved them in the sun to test their blades' sharpness; others shouldered their heavy muskets and checked to see if they had enough ammunition.
The Destroyer drew closer to the island, its sandy beaches and coconut groves now visible. Several crew members pushed aside a box of shells, neatly arranged inside, emitting a cold aura. Wald picked up one, weighed it, and felt its weight. His lips curled up slightly, a wicked smile playing. "Let's give the guys on the island a heads-up." With that, he exerted force with his right arm and flung the shell into the air!
The shell rapidly grew in size in the air, like a giant black bird, whistling towards the island. "BOOM!!!!" With a resounding roar, a massive explosion cloud erupted over the island, flames shooting into the sky and clouds of dust billowing. The island's residents, startled by the sudden blast, fled in all directions, their eyes wide with terror, screams and cries echoing.
Soon, shouts of curses emanated from the castle of the island town. "I want to see who's so reckless!" A fat man, carrying a huge axe, led a group of soldiers out of the castle. The fat man was corpulent, and the flesh on his face trembled as he ran. The huge axe in his hand gleamed coldly in the sunlight. The soldiers behind him were also armed, looking menacing.
