Chapter 440: Monk and Son
Leia followed Arthur into the port district of the capital of the Kingdom of Goa. She observed the constant flow of people around her, including vendors, children, and people in different costumes. Her breathing stopped instantly.
The noise came as if it were real!
It was no longer the monotonous sound of the sea breeze, the singing of birds in the mountains, and the roar of wild beasts in Rapeseed Village, but a torrent of countless sounds.
Luxurious carriages rolled over the cobblestones, vendors hawked fruits and glittering glassware she had never seen before in fancy words she could not understand, and crowds of people in dazzlingly bright clothes flowed around her like a rushing colorful river.
Arthur noticed Leia's shock at the prosperous world, and looked back at her dull and horrified expression, thinking to himself,
"Perhaps in this world where the strong are respected, there won't be anything wrong with being so ordinary."
Arthur quickly rejected this idea. No matter how many times he had to become a strong man instead of succumbing to them.
"So many people! There were so many big ships in the port we just came from, dozens of times bigger than our ship!" When she arrived in the city, Leia could hardly hide her shock.
I wanted to check out the food, clothing and accessories shops on each street, but I was too shy to look.
Passing through the crowded port city, Arthur came to a weapons shop in the central area.
He leaned against the glass outside the store and looked at the various exquisitely decorated knives inside.
No matter how good-looking these knives are, no matter how the boss differentiates their quality, they are not to his liking.
"They are just some ordinary iron knives, and the price is so expensive even with some decorations on them." After taking a few glances, Arthur walked towards the gate of "Uncertain No Destination".
"Haven't you always wanted a knife?" Leia asked when she saw Arthur leaving without interest. "You can buy one of these knives for 3 to 4 Baileys."
Arthur replied, "No, low-grade stuff."
"So picky..." Leia followed Arthur's steps.
For Arthur, the knives in the weapon shop are very easy to break except when used in domineering combat.
It's okay to meet a weak person, but when you meet a strong person, not only are they unreliable, but they also lose a lot of their domineering power.
It has no certain terminus, but it connects to a garbage dump at the foot of Mount Korpo.
All people and things that are no longer needed will be abandoned in this area.
There were four soldiers wearing gas masks guarding both sides of the city gate. Arthur took Leia out of the city gate, and the originally fresh air suddenly became foul-smelling.
There is garbage everywhere and homeless people living in this garbage dump where the rich and businessmen of the capital discard their garbage.
"I smell a stench as soon as I leave the city gate. Why did you come here, Arthur?" Leia covered her mouth and nose and looked around.
Many skinny children, old people and weak adults appeared in her sight.
"I'm going to find someone to get some information." Arthur had a cold look on his face, showing no sympathy for these people at all.
Wherever a place has a bright and beautiful side, there is definitely another dark and dirty side.
If no one suffers, how can those rich people count money at home until their hands are tired and play with supermodels and prostitutes until their legs are weak?
About an hour later——!
On the tree-lined path of Mount Korpo, north of the capital of the Kingdom of Goa, Arthur picked a grass root and put it in his mouth as he walked forward.
Like Rapeseed Village, there are still many ferocious beasts inside the largest land area of the Kingdom of Goa.
But he was not afraid at all, and followed the path to the courtyard of the bandit Dadan's family.
"Are they already bandits at this time?" Arthur looked at the bandit Dadan's family from a distance. A slender woman with long orange hair was hanging clothes to dry.
This person is Dadan, whose figure has not yet been deformed and is at the peak of her appearance.
"Arthur, look at those fierce guys wearing white cloths and carrying knives on their waists. They look like bandits." Leia said worriedly behind Arthur, "They look like bandits from this mountain!"
The two of them were quickly noticed by Dadan's keen perception.
After Dadan hung up the clothes, his vigilant eyes swept directly towards the bushes where Arthur and Leia were, "Who's there?! Are they bandits from the nearby hilltops?"
When Dadan's men heard the noise, they swarmed out of the huge house with knives in hand.
"Hey, let's run... Arthur?" Leia was frightened when she saw this. When she was about to reach out to say hello to Arthur beside her, she found that Arthur under her had disappeared.
Hiss, hiss, hiss~ There was a noise behind her.
When I turned around, I found that Arthur was already walking down the mountain in quick steps.
"Run, what are you doing there?" Arthur shouted at her.
He would not go to provoke these guys. Since the bandit Dadan had built a stronghold here, Dadan at this time must have known Karp.
Leia hurried to keep up, her entire back soaked with sweat.
If those bandits rushed up with knives, she really didn't know what to do.
"Really? I feel like I have more lives than enough to follow you!" she cursed at Arthur.
Arthur kept a disdainful smile on his face and ignored her.
After leaving the hill, Arthur soon came to a plateau lawn dotted with windmills.
He felt the fresh air and ran to the edge of the plateau, gazing at the windmill village below as if he was gazing at the rapeseed village.
The huge red windmill turns slowly under the blue sky.
Seagulls cried and the waves lapped against the quiet pier where small fishing boats were moored.
Many farmers wearing straw hats walked into the village along the gravel paths in the afternoon. Wild flowers bloomed on the windowsills of the wooden houses, and people lived in harmony with each other.
Fishing boats offshore outside the pier are casting their nets.
The aroma of food and faint laughter wafted from the tavern on the pier.
The back mountain is lush and green, and the air is mixed with sea breeze, sunshine and the breath of life.
This is a small village that looks ordinary but gave birth to several strong people.
This is where the "One Piece" dream began.
The rhythm of the windmill's rotation seems to be the steady and hopeful heartbeat of this land.
"Ah——!" A painful cry came from the village.
Soon, Arthur's eyes were fixed on the teenager in the village below who was running with his butt covered. He was being chased and beaten around the village by a burly young man wearing flip-flops.
"Stop right there, Dorag!" the young man shouted to the teenager in front of him with a kind smile on his face, "Today's physical education class is not over yet!"
Arthur's face darkened and he looked carefully.
The teenager being chased by the young man below is Monkey D. Dragon.
The man chasing him was none other than the current Vice Admiral of the Marine Headquarters, Monkey D. Garp.
"You must become stronger under my guidance, then become a righteous marine and serve the navy in the future!" Garp's roar was deafening, almost heard throughout the entire village and the mountains.
"Chief Slab! Save me!" Dorag begged as he ran, his body covered with scars from training, "My father, that bastard, is trying to kill me!"
