Chapter 523 Countdown: 5 Days Left - Go Out for a Trip
"You have the wrong person."
Several plainclothes female naval officers twitched at the corners of their mouths after hearing Arthur's denial.
With an eagle on his shoulder and wearing a baseball cap with the naval insignia erased, who else could it be but him?
They had been on the island for a long time but had not found Arthur. They asked around among the villagers, but no one knew Arthur.
Having left the naval organization to carry out missions overseas, they have no choice but to work here to cover daily expenses and survive.
Now that I've finally met the person in person, what should I do if they don't acknowledge me?
Arthur looked at them with disdain and even some annoyance, waving his hand like a cricket swatting a stray cat, signaling them to leave.
"Impossible!" Standing not far from Arthur, a woman frowned and pouted, immediately retorting.
"Our memory and ability to recognize people are absolutely infallible!"
She vehemently refuted Arthur, quite certain that the guy in front of her was indeed Arthur.
Seeing her companion's anxiety, another female navy officer in plainclothes, who appeared more composed, put her hand on her shoulder, signaling her not to be impatient.
"Although we don't know why the lieutenant general sent us on this mission, and we're not sure if you have any unexpected connection with Gion, we still have some information to give you."
Upon hearing the name "Gion," a hint of seriousness appeared on Arthur's languid expression.
"Hmm?" The Navy officer, noticing Arthur's slight expression, frowned, as if he had discerned something.
Although his facial movements were subtle, they could not escape their keen observation.
"You know the previous Pirate Empress, Shakky, right?" The composed woman seized the opportunity to start a conversation.
"About a month ago, some rumors about her started circulating from Beehive Island."
Arthur raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, "Rumors about Shakky?"
"It's truly astonishing that someone like you doesn't have any sources."
The plainclothes female naval officers were somewhat surprised. Logically speaking, someone with a bounty of 210 million should have a large intelligence force under their command.
"No, we live in the mountains, what intelligence could we possibly have?" Arthur said indifferently, as he was no longer interested in the world's affairs.
There were rumors on the high seas about the Ice Sword Master's enormous ambitions, and how he had chosen to go into seclusion after disappearing for several months.
The women looked puzzled, but at least they had gathered some concrete information.
The guy in front of you is Arthur.
"It seems you really know nothing," the composed woman sighed.
"It is said that someone kidnapped Shakky. Soon after, the Rocks Pirates came out in full force, and many deadly pirate crews gathered in the West Blue. I don't know what they want to do."
As naval soldiers, their intelligence capabilities were limited, so the information they had was incomplete.
Even such vague news caused Arthur's expression to change.
Arthur suddenly interrupted her, frowning as he asked, "What's the date today?"
"In early February of the 1484th year of the Sea Calendar, the Celestial Dragons' descent to the mortal realm was held on the 6th, and our Navy was tasked with providing escort."
"With so many pirate crews gathering in the West Blue, could it be related to the Celestial Dragons' activities in the mortal realm?"
"Yes, there must be something fishy about this."
The women started discussing amongst themselves, completely unaware of the change in Arthur's expression.
February 6th, which means there are only 5 days left before the God Valley incident breaks out.
The languid aura emanating from Arthur vanished, replaced by a chilling coldness. He asked coldly,
"So, what does this have to do with Gion? Isn't she a Marine in your navy? Could it be that she was chosen to be a bodyguard for that event?"
"No!" the women quickly responded to Arthur, "Gion disappeared months ago! It's like she vanished into thin air!"
"Lieutenant General Tsuru seems to know something, and he sent us to your hometown to find you."
"Yes, yes, we couldn't find you here, so we had to wander around this place until today when we finally saw you in the village."
"Disappeared?!" Arthur's voice suddenly rose, his eyes widened, and his emotions were in great turmoil.
"How could a perfectly healthy person suddenly disappear!"
Seeing Arthur's strong reaction, the plainclothes female soldiers were somewhat frightened, which also confirmed to them that he did indeed have some connection with Gion.
"In a soldier evaluation report a few months ago, Gion filled out some answers that questioned the Celestial Dragons. After that, she and her Vivre Card at headquarters disappeared."
"The Lieutenant General said that this is related to the Celestial Dragons. After the Lieutenant General's own investigation, it is indeed the case. The Lieutenant General said that she was imprisoned in the Great Prison of Mary Geoise in the Holy Land."
Bang! Upon hearing this, Arthur punched the wall of Leia's house.
The wall shattered with a crash, revealing a spiderweb-like crack.
"Lord Arthur?" Leia came out of the house upon hearing this, and looked at Arthur, who was fuming.
"What are you doing? Why are you suddenly angry?"
"What the hell do you Navy people think of?!" Arthur grabbed a female civilian soldier by the collar, facing her nose, and yelled.
"Don't you know what kind of beasts the Celestial Dragons are? How could you let her be imprisoned in that place for so long?"
OMG!!!"
On a bright, sunny day, the air became unusually cold as Arthur grew angry.
The women were terrified, their faces showing panic; they hadn't expected Arthur to react so strongly.
"But we...we just found you...and told you the news...don't be angry...I was just passing on a message..."
"Then why didn't you find me sooner?!"
Faced with the menacing Arthur, the female soldier was at a loss for what to do, filled with fear and unsure of what to do.
"The Navy?" Leia was taken aback. "How did the Navy find this place?"
"Hehe..." Arthur thought for a moment and calmed down instantly. What's done is done, there's nothing you can do about being angry.
What if this is just a trap set by the Navy, a fabricated excuse?
But then I realized, it doesn't make logical sense!
Why use Gion to set a trap for him?
"Haha, nonsense." Arthur released the female soldier.
"This makes no sense at all. I have no connection with Gion, so why are you suddenly telling me this news?"
"Get out of here, or I'll twist your heads off and feed them to my old buddy on my shoulder."
Arthur threatened, pointing his thumb at Cooper on his shoulder.
"Cooper!" (I don't eat human heads! Besides, I'm only three years old, who are you calling old!)
"But we have to wait until the next transport ship to leave. We will absolutely not cause any trouble in the meantime, don't worry!"
"Hmph!" Arthur turned around and walked into Leia's living room, sitting down on the sofa.
Leia stood frozen in the doorway, staring at the wall Arthur had smashed open, and sighed helplessly.
"Really, what's wrong with Lord Arthur all of a sudden?"
She then went inside and saw Arthur pouting, looking sullen as he pondered on the sofa.
"Little servant, bring me the tough bandages I ordered from overseas," Arthur instructed Leia.
"I need to go out for a few days; I have some things to take care of."
"Oh."
Leia immediately did as she was told, and soon returned with a cardboard box marked "Department Store Group".
Upon opening it, she saw a thin cloth garment and some very elastic bandages.
She handed it to Arthur, and he saw him tightly wrap it around his forearms, upper arms, shoulders, chest, and waist.
"What are you doing, Lord Arthur?" she asked curiously.
"I've never seen you like this before."
"Do nothing, just tie me up and play around." Arthur put on the black cloth robe, patted his chest, stretched his limbs, and felt good.
"Cooper and I are going out for a while, and we'll be back soon, just like I told you before."
