"What the hell is this?" Li Jie stood at the entrance of the secret room, his eyes wide open. The scene in front of him made him unable to react for a while. The whole room was filled with flashing lights, and the air was filled with a strange smell, as if it was a mixture of some kind of spice and electricity.

"Why do I feel like this place is a bit like a laboratory in a science fiction movie?" Xiao Chen took out his cell phone and took pictures of the surroundings. "Could this really be a base built by some aliens?"

Li Jie couldn't help but laugh. "You think too much. Do aliens really have such a high-end laboratory? Why don't you say this is the birthplace of the time machine? At least it sounds more reliable."

"Time machine?" Xiao Chen was shocked. "Did you discover some big secret? Then can we go back to the past and start over again?"

As Li Jie walked into the secret room, he joked, "If there really is a time machine, don't rush back to the past. At least drink the cup of coffee I offered you this morning."

"You just know how to make fun of me!" Xiao Chen rolled his eyes and followed him in. "But to be honest, this place is really weird. Why do I feel like I have entered the plot of a science fiction novel?"

"Yeah." Li Jie nodded. "It's really unusual. Every step we take feels like we are exploring a new world. I guess this might be the 'trap' of this place. Look at these flashing lights. They're like some kind of hint."

Xiao Chen stopped and observed the light spots carefully. "Well, it seems that they change according to our movement. Can we use these light spots to find the exit?"

"Who knows." Li Jie sighed, "But since I'm here, I have to give it a try."

They walked along the light spots in the secret room. The further they walked, the denser the light spots became. Xiao Chen suddenly stopped and pointed to the wall on one side. "Look, there is a button here."

Li Jie walked over and pressed the button. The whole wall suddenly began to move, revealing a hidden room. The two looked at each other, their heartbeats speeding up.

"It seems that we have found new clues." Li Jie said in a low voice, and then took Xiao Chen into the new room.

The room was empty, the only thing that caught the eye was a glass cabinet in the middle of the room, which seemed to contain an object that was glowing blue.

"Be careful." Li Jie reminded, "We don't know if there will be any traps here."

"Don't worry, I've seen so many movies, I know what to do." Xiao Chen smiled confidently, "It should be no problem."

Li Jie shook his head helplessly. "With your level, you still dare to be a hero in the movie? Be careful of being caught by the villain."

Xiao Chen didn't care, walked to the glass cabinet, and reached out to touch the control panel on the cabinet. Suddenly, the lights in the whole room flashed, and then the glass cabinet opened, and the blue object inside also floated out gently.

"Hey, wait a minute!" Li Jie shouted loudly, but it was too late. The blue light object suddenly activated and the temperature of the entire room rose rapidly.

"I knew there was something wrong!" Xiao Chen looked regretful. "This thing doesn't look simple. It must be some kind of high-tech product."

"You think I don't know?" Li Jie said as he quickly backed away and pulled Xiao Chen towards the exit at the other end of the room. "Hurry up, we have to get out of here!"

They desperately ran towards the exit, and the room behind them began to shake violently, and the entire secret room seemed to be collapsing. Just as they were about to run out of the room, a strong light suddenly appeared at the door, blocking their way.

"Oh no, we're completely trapped now." Xiao Chen looked at the wall of light in front of him nervously, obviously not understanding what was going on.

Li Jie gritted his teeth and said, "No matter what, just force your way in!"

Before he finished speaking, he had already rushed towards the light wall with Xiao Chen. As a result, as soon as the two of them touched the light wall, they did not feel any resistance. The light wall was penetrated by them like air.

On the projection was a familiar face - a seemingly young scientist, speaking to the camera.

“Welcome to the Future Laboratory, you will become a part of the new world. For your safety, please follow the steps below.” The man’s voice came clearly.

"Future Laboratory?" Li Jie frowned, "What the hell is this place?"

The projection continued, "To ensure that you can successfully integrate into future society, you need to complete a critical task. Please press your finger for identity verification."

"Identity verification?" Xiao Chen looked confused. "We are not employees here, how can we verify it?"

"Maybe we're not here for a mission at all." Li Jie said solemnly, "But since we're here, let's give it a try."

He reached out and pressed a red button on the projection. Suddenly, the air around him seemed to freeze and the entire space fell into deathly silence.

Next, the voice on the projection suddenly changed: "Authentication successful. You have become a 'new member' of the Future Lab. Welcome to join us."

"What? New members?" Li Jie suddenly felt a chill rising from the soles of his feet. "This is impossible. We just barged in by mistake."

Xiao Chen was also a little panicked, "What should we do now? How should we quit?"

Li Jie took a deep breath and said, "Let's see what happens next. Maybe there is a way to get out of here."
