Chapter 775 Thanos's Philosophy
[In space, the Sanctuary was quietly hovering somewhere in the universe. The ring-shaped ship carrying Proxima Midnight and General Corvus Glaive returned to the vicinity of the Sanctuary. In the distance, two more ships returned to the Sanctuary even faster than them.]
[There are also a large number of small spaceships patrolling around the huge Temple.]
[Inside the spaceship, Thanos slowly walked towards his throne. Gamora was sitting on the steps below him without saying a word.]
[Noticing Thanos approaching, Gamora immediately stood up and looked at him.]
Thanos was holding a small bowl with some food in it, and he handed the bowl to Gamora.
"I think you're hungry!"
Gamora took the bowl from Thanos, looked up at him silently, and then threw the bowl to the seat behind her without hesitation.
"I've always hated that chair!"
Thanos wasn't angry either. He knew Gamora's character very well. He looked at the throne.
"You always say that! Even so! I still hope you can take my place up there!"
"I hate this room! This spaceship! I hate my life!"
She turned and walked back. Thanos glanced at her sideways, "This isn't the first time you've said this to me! You do it every day!"
He walked up the stairs, slowly sat down on them, and looked at her back. "I've been saying this for twenty years!"
"I was just a child when you kidnapped me!"
"I saved you!"
Gamora turned around and said, "No! No! We were very happy on our original planet!"
In response to Gamora's innocent words, Thanos replied calmly, "Happiness is not having enough to eat... or clothes to wear? Your planet was on the verge of collapse! And I prevented that tragedy from happening!"
"Do you know what happened there? Children were born, well-fed, and raised under a clear blue sky! It was like heaven there!"
Gamora looked at Thanos coldly, "Because you slaughtered half the life on the planet!"
Thanos didn't take her cold tone seriously, saying simply, "It's just a small price to pay for redemption!"
"You're crazy!" Thanos's indifferent attitude towards life made Gamora even more angry. She couldn't understand Thanos's behavior.
"Little one, this is so simple! The universe is not infinite! Resources are not infinite! If life is not restrained, one day life will cease to exist! Someone needs to correct this!"
[Gamora angrily said: "You don't understand at all!!!"]
Thanos raised his head slightly, "I'm the only one who understands this! At least I'm the only one willing to take action for it!"
[Gamora felt somewhat disdainful of this, believing it was just an excuse for Thanos to cover up his cruelty.]
【Thanos also knew how Gamora viewed him, but he didn't care. He walked up to Gamora. 】
[“Once upon a time! You… had the same wish! That’s why you fought alongside me! My daughter!”]
Gamora lowered her head and remained silent for a moment before she spoke: "I am not your daughter! All the hatred I feel for myself is because of what you taught me!"
[She looks up at Thanos.]
Thanos smiled faintly, "Because of me! You can become a female warrior who dominates the universe! That's why I believe you can find the Soul Stone!"
Gamora looked at him calmly, "I'm sorry! I disappointed you!"
Thanos sighed silently and gently stroked Gamora's cheek with his fingers. "I am indeed disappointed! But not because you didn't find it!"
He leaned over and whispered in her ear, "It's because you found it! But you lied to me!"
Gamora suddenly felt a little confused.
"What this guy said seemed to make sense at first glance, but in fact it's bullshit! Hasn't he read any books? Doesn't he know that the population can double every 20 years? In just 20 years, his killing would become meaningless!" Tony sneered at Thanos' words.
Captain America nodded, "Yeah! This kind of killing will only make people more miserable! Resources are indeed limited! That's why we need to learn how to control and distribute them!"
Banner frowned. What Thanos said was right in a sense, but his actions were not only unethical, but also had no practical effect!
"He imposes his own perceptions on others, thinking it's for their own good, but he ignores the fact that animals have feelings! How much more so humans?"
Egghead said, "He's obviously an extremist. He uses his own way to maintain the balance of the universe without considering whether it's humane!"
"Yeah! And he's a little self-touched! Even if resources are insufficient, that's that planet's own problem. They'll find a way to solve it themselves. Survival of the fittest will help them solve this problem! Instead of asking him to kill! This is just a temporary solution, not a fundamental solution!"
Scott reached out and interrupted them, "Wait! Didn't you notice a problem? Thanos said that Gamora's home planet later became like heaven! But... in that prison, the Xandar people said that Gamora was the last survivor of their race!"
"Yes! That's true!" Tony waved his hand and called up the video of Guardians of the Galaxy at that time. He found that it was just as Scott said, Gamora was the last survivor of the Zehoberi tribe!
Gamora lowered her head and remained silent. She had not returned to her home planet for many years, but even so, she knew that Thanos' actions indirectly led to the destruction of the Zehoberi people.
Although the home planet did get better after the massacre as Thanos said, it was destroyed for some reasons afterwards, which is one of the reasons why she hates Thanos.
[A large door slowly rose up, and Gamora looked around. This was one of the few places in the Sanctuary she had not visited.]
She looked inside and saw Xingyun was fixed in mid-air, with soldiers guarding both sides. As the fences were retracted, she walked quickly inside. "Xingyun!"
[She saw Xingyun's body twitching slightly. As she got closer, she discovered that her body parts had been separated. From a distance, there seemed to be nothing unusual, but from the side, she could see her problem.]
[“Don’t do this!” Gamora looked at Thanos pleadingly. ]
Thanos calmly explained why Nebula was here. "Not long ago! Your sister sneaked onto this ship and tried to assassinate me!"
"Please don't treat her like this!"
"She almost succeeded! So I brought her here! To have a good talk!"
