106. Someone spying on me.
Deangelo.
I sat at my desk, my mind swirling with thoughts of betrayal and espionage. It was clear to me that someone within my organization or pack had leaked the details of our deal with the Philippine government. But who was it? And how had they gained access to such confidential information?
Luca had been out investigating all day, and now he sat before me with a file in his hands. I looked up at him, eager to hear what he had uncovered.
"Well?" I asked, my voice low and steady.
Luca cleared his throat, "Based on my findings, it was a young man who recently joined the pack that had leaked the information."
I felt a jolt of anger surge through me. How could someone be so careless with such sensitive information? And why would they do something so foolish? I stood up and began pacing back and forth, my mind racing with questions. "Who is he? What's his name?" I demanded.
Luca flipped open the file and read out the name, "His name is Michael Ramirez. He's been working at the park for only a few weeks."
I narrowed my eyes, trying to recall if I had met this Michael Ramirez before. But the name didn't ring any bells.
"What else did you find out?" I asked.
Luca flipped through the pages of the file. "Well, he doesn't have any criminal record or known affiliations. He seems like a regular guy."
I scoffed, "Regular guy my ass. He's a spy, Luca. And we need to find out who he's working for and what else he's leaked. Did you speak to him?"
Luca shook his head, "No, I didn't want to alert him that we were onto him at first because I thought it best to gather more information first but even after that, I have been unable to find him. He was recently fired by Mrs. Cali."
As Luca spoke, I felt a sense of unease gnawing at the pit of my stomach. I couldn't shake the feeling that we were missing something crucial, something that could have prevented this leak from happening in the first place. "Are you telling me that this guy was fired by Mrs. Cali and now he's nowhere to be found?" I asked, my voice tense.
Luca nodded gravely. "Yes, that's correct. We've searched high and low for him, but so far, we've come up empty-handed."
I clenched my jaw tightly, feeling a wave of frustration wash over me. "This is unacceptable," I growled. "How could we let something like this happen?"
Luca looked apologetic. "I'm sorry, Deangelo. We did everything we could to prevent this from happening. But sometimes, these things are out of our control."
I shook my head, refusing to accept that answer. "No, Luca. There's always something we can do. We need to figure out how this happened and make sure it never happens again."
As I sat there, listening to Luca's report, my mind raced with anger and frustration. I knew I needed to take immediate action to protect our company and our pack’s reputation. But now, Luca was saying that the person responsible had gone underground, and I was starting to get suspicious.
"Are you telling me that you can't find him?" I asked, my tone sharp.
Luca shook his head, looking frustrated. "I've searched high and low, but there's no trace of him. He's gone completely off the grid."
I narrowed my eyes. Something didn't add up. Luca was one of my most trusted confidants, but I couldn't help but wonder if he was holding back some information.
"There's none that you cannot find, Luca," I said, my voice low. "I find it hard to believe that this man could just disappear like that."
Luca looked taken aback by my suspicion. "I assure you, boss, I've done everything I can. But sometimes people just don't want to be found."
I leaned back in my chair, studying Luca carefully. I knew that Luca was a loyal member of my pack, my best friend, but I couldn't help but feel like something was off. I wondered if there was more to the story than Luca was letting on.
"I'm not convinced," I said, my voice firm. "Keep looking. I want to know everything about this guy. Who he is, where he came from, and why he decided to betray us."
Luca nodded, looking relieved that I wasn't accusing him of anything. "I won't let you down, boss. I'll do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of this."
I had a nagging feeling that something was not right. As I was speaking with Luca, I could sense someone lurking around, listening to our conversation. It was as if my wolf had become hyper-vigilant, sensing an intruder. I paused for a moment, my eyes narrowed as I tried to pick up on any sounds or scents that might give away the intruder's identity.
I could feel my anger rising at the thought of someone spying on me. How dare they! My mind raced with possible scenarios of who the eavesdropper might be. Was it one of my enemies, trying to gain an advantage over me? Or perhaps one of my own staff, trying to betray me again? Had I been so infiltrated that they all think they can do this and get away with it now? Have I gone that soft? The thought of betrayal made me furious. I had always been careful to surround myself with loyal and trustworthy people.
My heightened senses, thanks to my wolf, allowed me to pick up on the faintest of sounds and detect even the slightest of movements.
I turned my attention towards the door, my eyes scanning the area. Luca didn't seem to have noticed anything, but I knew better. Someone was definitely there, listening to us. I decided to play along, to see if I could flush out whoever was behind the door.
"Luca," I said, my voice low and measured, "I don't want to speak about this matter any further at the moment. Let's pick up where we left off later."
Luca looked at me quizzically, but he knew better than to question me when I was in this mood. He simply nodded and took his leave, closing the door behind him. As soon as he was gone, I moved towards the door, my senses still on high alert, my eyes scanning the hallway for any signs of the eavesdropper.
