112. Your Petty Games.
Elena.
I took a deep breath before knocking on Sofia's door. I knew this conversation wasn't going to be pleasant, but I needed answers. I wanted to understand why Sofia had told Mia and Diego those things about me. It didn't make sense to me why she was always trying to stir up trouble. We weren't friends, but we were part of the same pack, and I thought we could at least have a civil relationship. I hadn't done anything wrong to her, and I couldn't comprehend her strange animosity towards me.
When Sofia didn't open the door right away, I decided to enter her room. To my surprise, she greeted me with a fake smile. "Hey, Elena, what brings you here?"
"I need to talk to you," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Sure, you could have shown some manners by knocking first," Sofia retorted as she sat up.
I simply rolled my eyes, choosing not to dwell on the fact that I actually did knock before entering. I needed to get straight to the point. "What did you tell Mia and Diego about me?"
Sofia, of course, pretended to be innocent. "I don't know what you're talking about, Elena."
"Don't play dumb, Sofia. I know you said something to them. What was it? What did you tell them about me? I'm trying to maintain peace here."
Sofia nonchalantly shrugged. "I didn't tell them anything that wasn't true," she replied. "Besides, why does it matter to you?"
My patience was wearing thin. "It matters because we're supposed to be working together to ensure the smooth functioning of this pack. Your petty games only create more problems."
Sofia rolled her eyes. "Oh, please, spare me the act of righteousness. You're not fooling anyone. Everyone knows you're just using this pack to serve your own interests."
My anger began to rise. "That's not true, and you know it. I'm doing everything in my power to do my own part to keep this pack united, which is being the kids’ perfect nanny."
Sofia sneered. "You mean seducing the alpha so you can become the pack's luna? That's why you're acting like a mother to the kids, right?"
I was taken aback. "What are you talking about?"
Sofia smirked. "Don't pretend to be clueless. It's obvious to everyone that you're infatuated with him. But guess what? He will never choose you over his duty to the pack."
Sofia sighed, rolled her eyes and then continued. "And you wanted to know what I told them? Fine. I did tell them that you're bitch and that you're only looking out for yourself, that if you had the chance, you would send them all away just like you caused their grandfather to leave!"
I felt my blood boil. "Why would you say something like that? That's not even true in anyway."
Sofia shrugged. "Oh please, maybe not directly but it is definitely true in a way, Alessandro hates you and Deangelo does not see reason with him, so technically, its your fault. And, please, I don't have to explain myself to you, Elena. You're not my friend, and I don't owe you anything."
I clenched my fists, trying to control my anger. "I'm not asking for an explanation. I'm asking you to stop spreading lies about me."
Sofia crossed her arms over her chest. "And what are you going to do about it if I don't?"
"I'll talk to the alpha if I need to, Sofia," I said, determined to stand up for myself.
Sofia snorted. "Go ahead. I'm not afraid of him."
I couldn't believe her audacity. "You should be. What you're doing is not only hurting me, but it's also hurting the pack."
Sofia smirked. "Oh, please. You're not that important, Elena."
I couldn't believe what was happening. Sofia and I have never been close, but I never thought it would escalate to this point. "What is wrong with you? Why are you trying to turn everyone against me?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Sofia just looked at me with a cold smile. "I'm not trying to turn anyone against you, Elena. They already know who you really are. You can't hide it forever."
I felt my anger rise. "You're the one who can't hide your jealousy and your hatred. You've always been like this, Sofia."
Sofia scoffed. "Jealousy? You really think I'm jealous of you? You're the one who's always acted like you are better than me in this pack all because the kids are very fond of you."
The argument continued to escalate until Sofia pushed me and I stumbled back. "Watch it," I warned, my fists clenching.
Sofia just laughed. "Oh, I'm scared now. What are you going to do? Cry to Deangelo about it?" She took a step closer. "Enjoy your time in the pack while you can, Elena. You won't be here for long."
I felt my blood boil. I have had enough. I lunged at Sofia, but Sofia was quick to dodge and hit me with a hard slap. I stumbled back, my hair yanked in Sofia's grip.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I shouted, trying to break free.
Sofia just looked at her with a twisted smile. "You'll find out soon enough, Elena. You can't run from me forever."
I wanted to fight back, but I knew it was useless. "You're going to regret this, Sofia," I growled as I got back to my feet.
Sofia just laughed. "Oh, I highly doubt that. You're nothing but a little girl playing dress-up in a pack that's way too big for you. Enjoy it while it lasts, because pretty soon you'll be going back to where you came from."
I knew that things had reached a breaking point. There was no turning back now, and I had a feeling that things were only going to get worse from here on out. I have had enough. "That's it. I'm done with this conversation. Just know that one day, you're going to get what's coming to you."
Sofia laughed. "Is that a threat, Elena?" I didn't answer her. I pushed her away and stormed out of the room, my hands shaking with anger. I had to find a way to stop Sofia before it was too late.
