116. Blissful for me.
Sofia.
I returned to the hospital after Elena and the kids had left. I felt a mixture of relief and anxiety as I heard that Deangelo was stable and recovering. Thankfully, his werewolf abilities were aiding in his healing process. I anxiously waited for the doctor to come out and provide an update on his condition. When the doctor finally emerged, I held my breath, preparing for the worst.
To my shock, the doctor informed us that the trauma to Deangelo's brain might have affected some of his memories. While not all memories were lost, there was a possibility that some of them might be gone. It was uncertain whether those memories could be recovered, and there was no guarantee. Despite the uncertainty, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. The most important thing was that Deangelo was going to survive.
Luca attempted to call someone for assistance, but nobody answered. He had no choice but to return home. Understanding the gravity of the situation, I knew I couldn't leave Deangelo's side. I offered to stay with him until someone else could take over.
"I'll stay with him," I firmly told Luca. "You go home and take care of things there."
Luca looked surprised by my offer, clearly not expecting it. However, I believed that someone needed to be there for Deangelo, and I was willing to fill that role. "Are you sure?" he asked, his concern evident.
I nodded confidently. "Yes, I'm sure. I'll let you know if anything changes."
Luca hesitated for a moment before agreeing. "Okay, I'll come back as soon as I can." As he walked away, I took a deep breath and headed towards the ward where Deangelo was being treated.
Upon entering the room, I saw him lying on the bed with his eyes closed. Slowly, I approached him and asked, "Do you recognize me?" He opened his eyes and replied, "Yes, you are Sofia, Jules' friend." I felt a sense of relief that he remembered me. However, there was another question weighing heavily on my mind. The possibility of memory loss was daunting, even though I had anticipated it. Trying to remain composed, I inquired about what had happened, hoping it would trigger his memory.
Deangelo looked at me with confusion and asked, "What are you talking about? What happened?"
Carefully, I asked him about his activities with Elena prior to the accident. Deangelo appeared puzzled and inquired, "Who is Elena?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Was he playing a prank on me? But as I looked into his eyes, I realized he was genuinely confused.
I was taken aback, unsure of how to respond. I initially thought he was joking, but his continued blank expression made it evident that he had no recollection of Elena or the events surrounding the accident. My heart raced as I struggled to find the right words. I stood there, frozen, staring at Deangelo's bewildered expression as he gazed back at me with complete confusion. He had no memory of Elena, and the reality of the situation was sinking in. It wasn't a glitch or a joke – he genuinely had no recollection of her.
I knew I had to act quickly. I couldn't let this opportunity slip by. For years, I had been in love with Deangelo, but his late wife always came first and then the bitch came and swooped into his heart so easily. But now, with her gone and his memory impaired, I saw my chance to finally be with him.
I sat by his side in the hospital room and I started to tell him that Elena was the new nanny, that she had been taking care of his kids for a while now. I could see the skepticism in his eyes, but I continued to weave my story, telling him that both of us had grown closer after his wife's death and had found love and comfort in each other.
I knew I was manipulating him, but I couldn't help it. This was my chance to be with the man I loved, and I wasn't going to let it slip away. Finally, he seemed to accept my story, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I knew that Luca and the rest of the household would be arriving soon, and I had to make sure my story held up.
The kids and some of the pack soon rushed in and as soon as they did, Deangelo's attention is immediately diverted towards them. His face lit up with a genuine smile as he embraces them. I watched from the corner of the room, happy to see him reunited with his children, but my heart sank a little when I realize that I have to share him with them.
Diego, the youngest of the two, tried to climb all over him, but Elena quickly intervened, telling him to calm down. I could sense the tension in her voice and the way she held herself back from touching Deangelo too much. I knew that she was trying to respect his space, but it was painful to watch. Then, it was Elena's turn to hug Deangelo. She moved towards him, her body language warm and welcoming, but Deangelo kept a polite distance, maintaining a professional demeanor. I could not help but feel a twinge of jealousy as I watched them, but when she got rejected and got a cold hug from him, it made me very happy and so i smirked. Who would have thought that this day would come?
I took this as my chance to play the role of the attentive girlfriend. So, I moved forward to perch myself on Deangelo's shoulder and placed my hand gently on his arm, offering my support, whilst ignoring the look of confusion and shock on faces of the observant people in the room.
Their reactions made me very giddy and I resisted the urge to laugh loudly, it was blissful for me and horror for them, sweet. I could not wait to see what the future with Deangelo and I was going to bring, I was sure that it would be amazing. I had him in my clutch now and I would never let him out of it no matter the turn out of this.
