Chapter 7 DREAM COME TRUE
The entire shifting that included packing and unpacking was done by his servants. I later realized that they weren’t his assistants but his servants. He had one assistant, Edward Matthew, who I met when I was entering Charles’s mansion. He came to greet his boss and give him feedback on something that I didn’t understand then.
Edward, who continues to be his assistant till the present date, is an average-looking guy, but he is amazingly smart in organizing things for Charles. He makes everything look so easy for him and does most of his work at the office and also at home. He is with us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and stays in the staff accommodation which is also a part of the mansion.
When I saw the staff quarters for the first time that I entered Charles’s home, I was super impressed with how big they were and the facilities that were provided to them. Charles himself had taken me for a round in the house to make me aware of what was where. For how big it was, it was very easy for me to get lost somewhere in it if I opened a door without knowing the way out from the room it would lead me to.
After visiting every single place in the house, we took the bifurcated staircase in the lobby that led us to the first floor. And the first floor had two rooms on either side from what I guessed as there was only one door on each side. Charles walked me to the one on the left, and when he opened the door, I felt awestruck.
The room was sumptuously luxurious. I hadn’t seen something like that in real life until then. I was instantly reminded of the movies about kings and queens that showed royalty in palaces. The whole place was splendid, but this room was the most lavish looking with every article in the room emitting the feel of royalness and majesty.
A rectangular bedroom with a gorgeous large bed right at the center covered in Egyptian cotton linen from what I could sense by looking at how soft and welcoming the bed looked. Sheer fabric drapes were tied to the little poles on each side of the bed making it look more like a king’s bed. There were also a couple of pillows set on it which resembled the texture of a feature. The bed looked so full; full of comfort, full of perfection, and full of richness.
The whole room had a very soothing and warm lighting that would make anyone feel comfortable and sleepy with the plushness it radiated. The walls were also covered in some kind of heavy material which was very expensive looking. The rest of the furniture in the room was widespread and looked equally extravagant.
Assuming that it could be Charles’s room, for the way so much stuff was settled in it, I saw my bags and cartons on the right side. I felt uncomfortable about all my stuff being in Charles’s room as I didn’t know that we would be sharing one bed. He had clearly mentioned that there were many bedrooms in his house, and that is why I agreed to move in with him. Had I known I would be sharing his bed, I wouldn’t have agreed to his plan.
“Why are my bags in your room?” I asked as I looked at him in a state of confusion.
“This is your room,” he answered, and that was shocking enough again, which gave a repeat telecast of how I had been with him for half the day.
“This is where I will be staying?” I questioned him one more time just to be sure if he really meant what he just said, and when he nodded, my smile became broader.
“Why? Don’t you like it?” He inquired.
“Like it? I love it, Charles!” I commented and, wanting to let him know the reason why I was super impressed, I explained, “This is not something that I was expecting. The staff accommodation will also be more than enough for me. You don’t have to give me such a royal place to stay.”
“I am not letting you stay anywhere else but here,” he mentioned and, as he came closer to me, he stroked my cheek once with the back of his palm and added, “Get used to it, sweetheart.”
Something about the manner in which he gave the utterance happened to strike the right chord in me. I turned into a statue and maintained that position of mine for more than some time. It was only after what he asked me next did I come back to my senses as he posed, “How about I call you Olive?”
“I am fine with that,” I approved because he was doing more than I ever could have expected, and knowing that my name is big enough and takes longer to say it, I agreed to him calling me Olive as it was shorter and cute.
I never had anyone give me a nickname, and that felt so unreal. It was like I was living my dream as I always fantasized about meeting the right man and he doing so many things for me. Of course, the ones that Charles was doing were over the limit, but maybe dreams do actually come true.
Luckily, he helped me unpack my stuff, but I felt like it was only because he wanted to be in the same room as me. It was Saturday anyway, and I had taken two days off from work to do the shifting. So, I thought that I would do a little bit of research tonight to understand who Mr. Charles Lozano is to the world. Sunday will hopefully bring new plans for me as I have to still settle in this big house.
