Chapter 19
Stacy and Dorothy stared at each other and then at Lily and then at themselves again before they screamed, "Omg!"
They expected it already but they never expected it now as Lily and Liam seem to not want to take it further. On many occasions, they saw Liam take some steps but he would stop as Lily seemed to act as if she didn't care but they knew their friend and they knew she cared.
"I am so excited Lily! I expected this and after a long time, finally! " Stacy exclaimed.
"You guys did take a long time though. I mean after all the tension and all! Finally I can sigh in peace," Dorothy said as she heaved a deep sigh making Lily and Stacy chuckle.
"So when did he ask? Outside? Oh my gosh, I cannot believe this. I wish I was there to see the drama and the banters between the both of you. Did you and him argue much before he said he liked you or what?" Dorothy asked, trying to imagine Lily and Liam I'm her head.
"Wait! I can imagine it. Oh my gosh, it's like that in the movies right?" Stacy asked, confusing Lily.
"I'm in the movies? What do you mean?" Lily asked.
"Oh come on! Don't be silly. I mean you literally walked up to him not too long and you were really pissed and he took you outside with him to speak so definitely the both of you argued and you said words to him that hurt you and boom..." Stacy gasped as she looked at her friend's face and her lips.
"He kissed you right? Oh my gosh! He did! Just like in the movies. I am so not surprised but I am and I wish I was there to see. Oh my!" She exclaimed as she fanned herself with her hand.
Lily could help but laugh at her friend's ridiculous thoughts. They were speaking to her as if she wasn't in their presence. She face palmed herself as Dorothy and Stacy both spoke about their imaginations of her and Liam.
"You guys are damn dramatic! Can you guys stop already?" She sighed after a while. Her friends were not concerned about her statement as they urged her to tell them that she and Liam kissed.
Lily had not kissed her and in fact she expected him to but he was respectful as always and kissed her on her cheek and forehead which she didn't mind. She knew they'd get there gradually and they were taking baby steps.
"Come on Lily! Tell us!" Dorothy urged.
"Guys! Relax!" She said.
"We did not kiss. We are fine and besides you guys are exaggerating too much." She confessed and immediately the happiness on her friend's face was replaced with a frown.
"What do you mean? He asked you to be his girlfriend but did not kiss you on the lips? Seriously?" Stacy asked as her brows raised up in a questioning manner.
Lily sighed. "You guys are funny. Just because he asked me to be his girlfriend doesn't mean he will just go about kissing me and besides I would love to narrate all that went down but he must probably be waiting for me." She tells them.
"Waiting for you to go to his house so you guys can fuck?" Stacy said out of the blue, making Lily's eyes widen.
"Stacy!" Lily exclaimed. She knew her friends could be funny and they exaggerated a lot but then again she never expected them to jump into conclusion so quickly.
"What? I am telling the truth. I mean he just asked you to be his girlfriend and you are leaving all of a sudden so tell me where he is taking you to." Stacy asked.
One who didn't know Stacy would think she liked Liam which is why she was asking Lily silly questions but the truth was Lily did that to her too back in high school. They did it to themselves, they took no offense in it as they consider it a part of a joke.
Dorothy burst into a fit of laughter. Lily's face had turned red from Stacy's thought that she couldn't react. "Oh my god! You should have seen you face Lily!" Dorothy said in-between laughs.
"So tell us what happened. I mean what did you guys talk about? Tell us briefly before you go because I'm sure I'm definitely waking up with a lot of headache tomorrow and a hangover too." Dorothy confessed.
"Come on, tell us! We are best friends, remember!" Stacy urged.
Lily sighed. "Okay. We kinda spoke and I was angry at him and he told me the reason for his attitude and why he had lied to me and one conversation led to another and another and he asked out of the blue that I was his girlfriend and I said yes." She lamented.
"Wow! You didn't take your time to punish him by asking him to give you time?" Dorothy asked.
"No. I did not." Lily said.
"Anyways I am so happy for you my friend. Who would have thought you'd get a very good man like Liam. I am really happy for you because I know Liam really loves you and he will treat you right." Stacy confessed.
"Thanks." Lily said to them and they all moved closer for a hug.
Lily left her friends to go and join Liam who was patiently waiting for her in his car.
When she got into the car, she closed the door and put on her seatbelt. "I'm so sorry for the delay, the girls were asking random questions." She confessed.
He smiled. "No offense taken. You could do no wrong in my eyes." He said, making Lily's heart flutter.
Liam was good with words and knew how to move a woman's heart without saying much.
"You are such a sweet talker. No offense indeed," she retorted playfully.
"So where are we heading to?" She asked him as he ignited the car.
"Where do you want to go?" He asked.
She shrugged. "I do not know to be honest. What do we do?" Lily asked.
"How about we travel out of town for the night?" He suggested.
She turned her face to give him a wary look. "Out of the blue? I didn't prepare for anything and my father would be worried when he finds out I'm not at home and besides I didn't tell him I was going to leave the house." She tells him.
"Well, how about we call your father and let him know you are with me?" He suggested as his brows raised in a questioning manner. He looked back at the road as he drove.
"I think that's cool but why out of town? Where exactly are we going?" She asked.
Chris looked back at her and smiled before looking back at the road. "We will see when we get there. Do you want to call your dad or should I?" He asked.
"I will call him." She said to him and took out her phone from her purse.
She went through her contact list and dialed her father's number. After two rings he answered the call.
"Hello dad," she said.
"Hi princess, how are you doing?" He asked.
"Why are you calling? Is something wrong? Are you hurt? Are you not at home? I'm on my way back, is there anything you want from me?" He asked with evidence of concern laced on his tone.
Lily's heart melted. After her kidnapping incident, her father has taken extra care of her. He was always worried whenever she called and asked a lot of questions to make sure she was fine.
She felt bad for him that he was having a harder time moving on than she did. Thinking of it, she would remember how her father was angry when he found out Chris had left. Her father wanted to put Chris in prison for not doing his job well and she had said nothing to appease him.
Lily sighed, "Dad I am fine and you?" She asked, trying to make little conversations with him.
"I'm good. Is there a reason you are calling? Are you hurt? Do you want something? Just tell me what it is you want Princess," He tells her.
"Nothing dad. I am with Liam right now." she informa him.
There was nothing that pleased Anthony Damien more than his daughter being with Liam. The love and respect he has for Liam was incomparable. Liam had shown he was more than worthy for his daughter as he stood by her through thick and thin and that made him want Liam more for his daughter.
Hearing she was with Liam made him feel at ease as he trusted his daughter with Liam.
"Okay. Is that all you want to tell me?" He asked.
"Well...we are going out of town and I wanted to keep you informed." She tells him.
A smile formed on Anthony Damien's face as he heard his daughter was going out of town with Liam. He was waiting for that day they'd come to him and announce tht they wanted to get married.
"Okay." He said.
"Take care of yourself. Do not hurt yourself and say hi to Liam for me." He said.
"Yes father." She replied.
"Bye." She said to him.
"Take care my princess." He said before she ended the call.
"So what did he say?" Liam asked.
"He said okay and that I should say hi to you and I should take care of myself." She tells him.
"Okay. Now that's settled, let's get out of town." He said.
After the long drive that took more than an hour, Liam finally reached his destination. Lily looked around to see if she was familiar with the place.
She was familiar with the place but the truth was as she looked at the place, memories of Chris and her resurfaced. This was where he had brought her when she was having menstrual cramps and she had danced here too.
She removed her seatbelt and got down from the car as she walked to meet Liam at the other side.
"What are we doing here?" She asked him.
"Okay for starters, there is small Diner here that I want to show you. They serve good meals." He tells her peeking her curiosity.
"Hmm. I see and if they are not palatable for me, what should I do to you?" She asked him.
He turned to look at her and he smiled. He reached down to gold her hands and she blushed from that little action. "If they are not palatable, I will kiss you." He said, making her heart flip.
She had not expected that from him. His words had made her speechless.
"What happened? Cat caught your tongue?" He teased and she blushed harder.
They finally made their way into the Diner. When they get in, they move to sit down close to the window. "It's a beautiful sight from here. I kind of like the place." She said looking around.
"I knew you would." He said to her.
"So what do you want to eat?" He asked her.
She sighed. "I do not know. Can I get a menu to know what they have so I can order?" She asked him and he nodded his head.
He clapped his hands and soon a male server came towards their table. Lily and Liam's attention were both on their phone the moment the server had come.
"Good evening. How can I help you?" The male server asked.
Lily's heart skipped when she heard the voice. She heard that voice somewhere and she knew it was very familiar. She raised her head up and her eyes landed on him; Chris.
Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at him. Chris had not expected to see Lily and he had not recognized her from afar or he wouldn't have come to serve them.
