My heart's beating for the wrong person

Wil dragged me to another section of the store. I looked around it. It was a Female sector.

I asked him, "For Blair?"

He shook his head and said, "For you. You helped me so... I'll treat you by buying you a dress."

"It's okay. You don't have to do that."

He didn't listen to me and took a Red Off-shoulder top for me.

"You always wear hoodies to class and I have never seen you in a girls outfit. So try this out. I think Red will suit you more than a pink hoodie."

I can't say no since this is the first dress he's buying for me. Even though it isn't my type I wanna try this for him so I took it.

He said, "Can we go and grab some lunch. I'm so hungry."

I nodded.

While eating he asked, "Do you like shopping?"

I laughed and said, "It's not like I don't like it. It's just... boring. With my friends, it's fun but with Sarah, it's quite opposite." (Laughs)

"With Blair, I have to wait for a long time. She'll do shopping, manicure, and goes to the spa. My entire day goes like that."

Beep!

There comes a reminder that he's in a relationship.

But I ignored it.

I gave a fake laugh and said, "Because she's hot! She has to take care of herself."

We spoke and shared things and laughed a lot. I like this environment with him. Being with him, I kinda like it.

He said, "Thanks for helping me." and hugged me.

It didn't last for a few seconds.

Why does this hug felt different? I imagined and longed for this hug with him for many days but I didn't feel anything more than a friendly hug.

He continued, "I like hanging out with you. See ya."

I bid him goodbye and came home.

I finished my dinner and fell on my bed. I enjoyed my day with him. So this is what it'll feel like when you go out and spend time with your favourite person. It's good. While I was enjoying my happy moments, a notification popped on my phone.

I took my phone and found it to be from Calix.

From Senior Calix,

< If you wanna go out with Wil, You can just tell me.

<Why did you lied?

I got mad at him. Yes. I lied but that's a different story. I didn't lie for Wil.

I messaged him,

>What do you mean by that?

There was no reply. He went offline.

Why do you do this to me? Ruining my day with just a few words...

In college, after the class got over I went to the Senior classroom. Calix wasn't there.

One of his friends came to me and asked, "Sam right?"

I nodded.

"You look more pretty in person ."

I asked, "Senior Calix?"

He told me, "Calix was sober this morning so... I think he'll be late to class. You can wait beside the statue near the pond. I'll inform him."

I went to the place where he said. I waited for him there.

An hour passed.

I stood thinking about lunch break would have been over by now so I need to get to class. When I started to walk,

"Sam!"

I heard Senior calling out my name from my behind. I turned and showed his conversation on my phone and asked about it.

He said he's drunk while he sent those messages.

I started, "I did lie to you but it has nothing to do with him. Okay. Here's the thing. I didn't like going to the basketball court that's why I lied to you. I'm sorry."

He asked, "Why are you protecting him?"

I can't believe that he gave attention only to Wil, even after I explained why I lied to him.

"Because he's my friend."

"I don't think he's just a friend to you."

"Yes. He's not. Just a friend to me. Why do you care? Wil may think of me as a friend but I don't. Because I like him. You heard me. I like him."

"He has a girlfriend!"

I shouted, "I KNOW! I KNOW HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND. SO WHAT??? WHY DOES EVERYBODY KEEP SAYING THIS TO ME?!"

I started to sob saying, "Is it my mistake?... I didn't know it before... Now I can't stop myself from liking him."

He came closer and hugged me. I continued my sobbing while being in his embrace.

"I like him!"

He lifted my face which was buried earlier on his chest. He wiped out my tears and said, "I love you." and kissed me on my forehead.

I got mad and pushed him away, "What's wrong with you?"

He tried to come closer to me.

"Stay away!... Don't come closer. Don't make me hate you." and started to walk away.

He grabbed my hand, "Don't hate me!"

When I looked at him. His eyes looked watering. My heart begins to throb faster. My eyes welled up with tears after seeing his teary eyes. I stood still while he was holding my hand. He came closer and hugged me. I felt his heart beating faster like mine and his hot breath in my ears. I didn't want to let go of that hug. He hugged me back by pressing his body towards me more. His warmth towards me was unbelievably comforting. I'm becoming more and more addicted to his scent.

I came to reality and broke the hug and started walking to the class.

What's happening to me? Why do I feel like this? I touched my heart. It still throbbing fast.
