##Chapter 9
Diana Markovic

"In the moon world?" I looked back to find Hugh. I avoided smiling, I just stared at him as he sat down next to me.
He was dirty and sweaty, but that only made him sexier. At the same time I imagined him working with his muscles outside carrying weight or breaking firewood like I saw the other day with that bunch of Viking-style men with big beards, mean faces, tattoos and...
"Is there something wrong with my arm?" Hugh caught my eye and I noticed my gaze was transfixed on his biceps.
“Uh… No. I was just thinking about something. I tried to explain myself without stuttering.
— I know... Are you hungry? Because I'm hungry! She bit her lower lip, forcing me to think maliciously.
'm sure my panties got wet along with the full lip he had just moistened with his tongue.
"I'm hungry too...
"So what are we waiting for?" He stood up pulling my hand. I felt the calluses and hardness of the palm against mine that was smooth and hydrated, a shiver ran down the vein in my arm...
We were walking side by side getting the looks of several women that were obviously meant for him, until he pointed to a large iron gate a few meters in front of us.
— Over there are the gates of the village, on the other side there is the local trade. I'm warning you in case you want to buy something or go somewhere while you're here.
"What's interesting there?" I asked curiously.
“Go there and see for yourself. I don't know what's interesting to you.
“You're such a brute. I exclaimed and he smirked.
"I am." - he said convinced.
"Are you still proud of it?" I put my hands on my hips and stopped walking immediately.
"Didn't I say you were a little crystal that anything breaks?" You get bored very easily, you are very grumpy. I opened my mouth in disbelief at what I had just heard.
Was I grumpy?
“You definitely don't like me. — and I was convinced of it.
I heard him exhale in a sign of stress.
“There are stores of all those things that women like you like. — women like me? “It has massage tents, beauty salon, party tavern, bar. There's a lot of interesting stuff, like I said. But interesting is something unique, what might be for me, might not be for you.
I was in dire need of a massage, especially when my back was starting to ache more intensely.
— Do they accept credit or debit cards there? — I asked but soon regretted it, changing my sentence — No need to answer, I know I have to go there to find out. But thanks anyway for the pointer.
- Here. — he murmured , turning to the right — The best food in the village, you can only find it here.
I followed him into what looked nothing like a restaurant, but an ordinary house, like his, only bigger. Even before he knocked on the door, a woman appeared smiling happily, extending her arms to hug him, which he returned affectionately. I frowned not understanding anything but I smiled at her who opened her lips in an "o" when she saw me.
"Who is this pretty girl?" — the gray haired woman came to me and hugged me tight.
— My name is Diana Markovic, nice to meet you. I extended my hand in greeting.
"I'm Zarah, the pleasure is all mine." — she seemed like a nice person. "Is that why you didn't come to lunch yesterday, son?"
Yesterday he had made lunch for me...
— No, godmother. I was just helping this girl, she is staying at my house. She widened her eyes , still smiling.
Her tone of voice was no longer as arrogant as it had been with me in the last few hours and that just made me realize that her problem was really with me.
—Oh. Well, come on in. I just set the table for lunch.
So, we entered the wooden house from the inside, there was a small staircase that led to the second floor, everything was very neat, smelling, simple and cozy. I loved that house.
“Wow, your house is really beautiful. I said looking at everything around me.
— I am very grateful to receive a compliment from you. He looked at me happily, gesturing for us to sit down.
— Why ? — I questioned the reason for "a compliment from you".
“Godmother, she's no better than anyone else here, okay? I tilted my head to the side, meeting Hugh's jaw-set face.
I took a deep breath trying not to lose my temper and be rude in other people's houses.
“I didn't say that, I know she's new here and she's never seen my house. I don't get many visitors, so the compliment of anyone who's never come to my house is special to me. — I smiled at his simplicity and patience in explaining something to the hardhead that clearly made him angry.
I was still going to ask him why he was teasing me.
"Do you eat everything?" I received the question with a lump in my throat.
I decided to remember Hugh's advice.
- Yes. I replied absorbing his look of relief at me. I'm sure I saw a small smile on her lips.
- Excellent. Zarah exclaimed happily.
She had prepared everything with great care even without knowing that I would come, all that was for Hugh, her godson. It had macaroni, meatballs, green leaf salad and natural Sicilian lemon juice. Even with my decision to start eating normal food, I filled my plate with generous amounts of salad, but the moment I tried the meatballs I melted and couldn't resist eating twice and he had three.
While we ate, she asked me common everyday things for people who live in big cities, I was honest with her in all questions, giving as many answers as possible.
"I've never eaten so much in my life." The food was wonderful. I praised her , receiving a look of emotion.
“Thank you very much, Diana. Check back often. You will be very welcome .
“She's not coming back, Godmother. It will go away in a few days.
“But if by any chance you think of coming back here someday.
"She'll never think of coming back." This is not the place for her. he said in a hard tone.
"Don't speak for me!" I scolded him.
I didn't say more because I didn't want to be rude in front of his godmother, I had a consideration for him that he didn't have for me.
“Zarah, thank you so much for lunch. Until then, it was a great pleasure to meet you. And you can let me come back as soon as an opportunity arises. I kissed her on the cheek and left.
I started to walk quickly back to the square, I was too upset with Hugh's behavior towards me, I didn't do anything to him. I couldn't understand it! One hour he was being kind, worrying about me and my well being , another time he was being thick and rude as if he hated me. Not to mention the moments when he was being ambiguous, teasing me without intentions and I, with a fertile mind, kept thinking inappropriate things.
All this in what? Two days? What would become of me in eight more days living in his house?
I was almost arriving at the square when I was surprised by a tall man wearing clothes similar to Hugh's, he was handsome too, long dark hair, tattoos on his arms but not as handsome as him, unfortunately.

Which also worried me a lot since I was sure that my attraction to Hugh was lack, if so I should be attracted to this man who aroused nothing in me but admiration for being handsome.
- Hey. — he spoke following my steps — I'm Kaik Mailing, very nice to meet you.
- Hey. Diana Markovic. I was kind and smiled.
At the time, I still hadn't remembered that name.
- You... - Kaik couldn't finish his sentence because he was interrupted by the voice full of accent that made my body shiver.
"Did you think I was kidding when I told you to stay away from her?" I looked back to see Hugh approaching with an angry face.
Hey?
