Chapter 15 The BookStore Stranger
Emily
“Why does he keep doing this to me?” I asked myself. “I am totally affected by him and I know he knows it. He's just trying to get me to admit it but I won't–– I couldn't because I know I would get hurt.” I was standing inside the lady’s room, staring at my reflection in the mirror, remembering all that had transpired a few moments ago in the meeting with the board members. I was in there feeling nervous when I heard that revenue had dropped by two of our clients and it will continue to decrease if we lose more. This means that people, including me, will be out of work. No sales meant no money and no money meant no pay for employees which will lead to me being out of a job.
I was so nervous that my leg started to shake and that's when I felt it. A Large warm hand on my thigh. My body had immediately gotten stiff because I hadn’t anticipated that move. He had rested it there for a while before he started to move his hand upwards my thigh. The feeling of his hand on my thigh had created an image that almost made me moan out loud, luckily, I remembered where I was to bite it back in time. The way he glided his hand on my thigh felt magical and I couldn't help but melt inward. His touch had my sex pulsating and forcing me to conjure up back the image of me laying down on his desk with my legs spread wide, his cock pressing on my pussy lips while he was kissing me, and his hand moving up and down my thigh.
Coming back to reality once more, I slapped his hand as hard as I could before I removed it and placed it at his side. I could see a ghost of a smile on his face in my peripheral vision and I wanted to slap it off along with either shouting or screaming at him––whichever was the loudest to make him understand that he can't do that to me, in public. A matter of fact period.
He was stirring up feelings that I had buried and had given a headstone and I didn’t want to go digging them back up. I was going to speak to him to let him know exactly what was on my mind so I waited patiently until the meeting was finished. I was thinking that I would speak to him calmly but the second I opened my mouth my intended tone had changed due to how frustrated I was. I was battling with myself, wondering if I should keep him locked out or break down my walls and let him in.
“How dare you! How dare you do that?” I yelled at him.
“Do what?” he asked, acting innocent.
“Stop playing dumb Mr. Jacob.”
“Adam.”
“What?” I asked dumbfounded.
“Call me Adam when we are alone and Mr. Jacob when we are around people in the office.”
“Well okay, Adam. Why did you rub your hand over my thigh?” I asked him angrily.
“I did it because your legs were shaking. Did you not like it?”
I wanted to shout “yes I did,” but I couldn't. My head was telling me one thing but my mouth wanted to say something else. Hesitating a bit, I took a deep breath and said, “no I did not like it.” But who was I trying to fool? My voice was a dead giveaway as it came out shaky, a clear indication that I was nervous and clearly lying. I was never good at lying when it comes on to expressing my feelings.
“Then why did you shudder when I did?” he asked, with eyebrows raised.
“I was cold.” I lied yet again, this time it wasn’t evident. I had regained my composure enough that my voice didn’t come out shaky.
Looking at him intently, I saw that he started laughing while getting up before he walked right towards me then leaning over his gigantic form over me.
“Why are you so afraid of letting me in? Why are you so against us? What exactly are you afraid of?” he asked in one breath. Licking my lips, I looked him straight in the eyes before answering.
“I just don't want to––”
“You don't want Emily?” He pressed urgently but before I could answer a knock came at the door. Straightening up we saw James walking in while holding Heather by her arm. Silently thanking God for the distraction, I sat silently watching to see what would happen.
“Will you excuse us?” Adam asked both James and myself before I got up as quickly as I could and bolted through the door and I didn’t stop until I had reached the lady’s room. Now here I was staring at my reflection in the mirror recalling everything that happened. Washing my face with water, I made my way to the kitchen where I made two cups of coffee before I walked back to the conference room. Knocking on the door, I opened it as soon as I heard Adam’s voice telling me to come in.
Walking inside, I handed him a cup and one to James who thanked me. Nodding my head, I exited quickly. I was still afraid of James. Each time when I see him he looked like he had gotten scarier. Going inside my office I looked over Adam's schedule, we had a dinner date tomorrow at seven in the evening and I was dreading what was going to happen. The time had flown by so quickly and it was already a new month. Adam kept making moves towards me and I wasn't sure if I would have the willpower to deny him another time for I knew he wasn't going to stop. Looking at the time on my phone, I realized that it was later than I had expected and I hadn’t called my mom. Dialing her number, I place the phone at my ears.
“Mom, are you okay?” I asked as soon as I heard her sweet voice come over the phone
“Yes, I am sweetheart; Grace is taking good care of me.”
“Okay mom, I just wanted to see if you were okay. I Love you.”
“Love you too darling.” Hanging up the phone with a smile on my face, I was happy that my mom had Grace to be there for her when I couldn't. I needed to get the best treatments possible so she could go back to her old self.
Checking the time on my phone once more, I saw it was time for me to get lunch. Taking out my purse, I walked to Adam's office to see if he wanted anything. I could hear laughter coming from inside of the room. Knocking on the door, I entered to see both him and James inside talking. “I am going to the deli; do you want anything?” I asked them both. Nodding their heads, no, I made my exit.
Walking into the deli, I went in line to place my order. While doing so, my eyes were roaming all over the place and landed on a familiar face.
It was the guy from the bookstore a few weeks ago and he was just walking in. Staring at him, I tried to figure out where I had seen him before the bookshop but I couldn't. He must have sensed me staring because he looked in my direction and held my gaze. We were like that for a few seconds before I looked away. He was a tall good-looking man with auburn hair. He had eyes that were emerald green and even though he wasn’t buff, he still had a great body. Ordering my sandwich, I waited until my order was ready before I went to pick it up.
Exiting the deli, I was about to cross the street when I heard someone shout “miss.”
Turning around, I saw it was the bookstore guy. Stopping, I waited for him to catch up to me.
“Hey,” he greeted me.
“Hi,” I replied.
“It's the second time I have seen you in the month and I couldn't help but wonder if it's a sign.”
Blushing at his words I replied. “Is that so? What exactly are you trying to say?”
“Well I was wondering if we could exchange numbers and maybe go out on a date to get to know each other better,” he replied shyly.
Laughing at his words I replied. “Maybe not, but if we do see each other again, I may consider taking you up on the offer.”
Giving me a toothy grin, I waved goodbye before I walked away. Stopping, I turned around and said, “don't stalk me now.”
I could see a look of shock on his face, but it was quickly replaced by another smile. Walking across the street, I walked a few blocks down to Adam's company. Going inside, I rode the elevator to his office and opened the door to see that he was deeply buried in his work and that James was gone.
“Mr. Jacob, er- Adam remember that we have a date tomorrow.” Looking up at me, I could see a Cheshire grin on his face.
“So, you're going to go out with me?” he asked, giving me a panty-dropping smile.
“Yes, I am,” I replied while blushing slightly.
“I'm so happy that you accepted,” Smiling I asked him if he wanted me to do anything for him. Nodding his head, no, I walked out of his office and into mine.
Sitting down at my desk, I thought about tomorrow and what it had in store for me. I sincerely hope that everything goes well.
