CHAPTER 21 – THE ABHORRED NEWS

SCARLET’S POV

When I entered the room, Carl was standing and was waiting for me while Hedrick was sitting by the corner and busy with his sword. He was cleaning it and trying to make it shine as bright as it could.

My heart skipped a beat at the sight of the sword. Even though this wasn’t the first time that I am seeing either of them attending to their swords, I could not help but think that the sword was for me. This sword seems to be the most important thing to him on earth and he never jokes with it.

I was tensed and I got hold of my breathing as I could not want to annoy any of them with it. My legs were shaking and I was struggling to maintain my balance with it.

“You sent for me, Carl,” I said as soon as I entered the room.

He looked at me and turned his face away. His look was indifferent and it was as if he had not heard me speak and I was not even there with him.

Standing before Carl and Hedrick spelled doom. Hell is nothing compared to their vehemence. Even Sam and Dawn’s viciousness goes to no issue when you think about Carl and Hedrick. They are not brothers but not for once have I considered them as such because they do not give a damn about me or anyone else.

They are one of a kind and are high-ranking soldiers in the army of the Pack and so, because of their busy schedule and having to live in the army camp, one hardly see them around. But whenever they return, the whole mansion would become as silent as a graveyard. No one dares to get in their way or do anything to attract them. They show no mercy to any omega and I am not spared from their terror too.

“I see you came when you want to,” Carl finally asked. His tone was harsh and he spoke with his face turned away from me.

When an omega had informed me that they were asking for me, I instantly urinated on myself. My heartbeat increased and my temperature rose very high. I quickly change what I was wearing and ran off to their room.

“I am sorry I kept you waiting” I replied.

I knew better than to try to make up any excuses at this time. He has no patience and the only language that he and Hedrick understand is that of war and brutality.

He smirked and grabbed the bottle of wine from the table. He came to stand in front of me and gulped down the wine. He stared into my eyes and when I tried to avoid his gaze, he tilted my face to his with a frown. Then, he dropped the bottle right between us and it splashed on the floor shattering into pieces.

I tried to jump and stop the shards from the broken bottle from getting to me, but he held me to the spot and stopped me from moving.

“Scary princess” Hedrick laughed as he looked at what was happening between Carl and me.

“No need to be scared, Scar, you would be heading a great Pack soon as a luna. Is this how you are going to be scared in front of your subjects?” Carl grinned.

Scar? Carl has never referred to me as Scar before. No member of my family ever refers to me as such. Why then would he choose to call me that and what does he mean by saying that I will be a luna or is Ray finally coming for me?

However, I waited impatiently for him to say all that he had to say to me before I would be able to make my conclusion.

“You are getting married, Scarlet” he announced.

“Married?” I murmured as I searched through his face for a sign of unseriousness.

Without giving me any warnings, he raised his hand and gave me a very heavy slap on the face that caused me to stagger for a while before finally falling.

I fell on the pieces of broken bottles littered on the floor and I screamed out in pain.

He dragged me up roughly and forced me to stand not caring about the injuries that had just sustained and the agony that I was going presently going through.

He used his left hand and grabbed my chin and squeezed it. The pain that I bore was unbearable and I could barely say any word because of the force he applied on me.

He gazed right into my eyes and said. “Next time, don’t speak unless you are spoken to, idiot”

He let go of me and the suddenness with which he had done that made me stumble and I tried to regain my balance to prevent any further attack.

“You are getting married” he repeated.

He picked up another bottle of wine and uncorked it before asking. “And now, do you have any questions?”

After asking his question, he held up his hands to halt me from saying anything yet. He gulped down the drink and looked at me fiercely. “But before that, I want us to be clear on something,” he said. “You don’t have a choice here”

He then waved his hand for me to speak and I asked him. “Please, who am I getting married to?”

I would have sworn that since I was getting married to an alpha, then it must be alpha Ray of Crystal Realms Pack but there is no way alpha Ray would send these two evil brothers of mine to give me such important news.

If the news was from Ray, he would have called me to first seek my opinion and would relate the news to me himself.

I have just been informed that I am getting married to an alpha and I have not been able to speak with Ray for weeks now. So who is this strange alpha that would pick a weakling for his luna? These and so many thoughts filled my mind.

Hearing my question, he lets out hysterical laughter. I could not tell if it was the question that had made him react in such a manner or if it was the manner in which I had asked it or maybe it was even the both of them.

“Oh, I forgot. She was supposed to know who she was getting married to” he exclaimed. “Okay, since you already can’t wait to get hooked, you are going to get mated to alpha Jake of the Black Moon Pack”

My world came crumbling right before my eyes. I have never dreamt for something as heinous as this to ever happen to me.

I opened my mouth wide to say something but remembered that I had not been asked to speak and so I humbly closed it back.

Who doesn’t know alpha Jake in the entire three Packs, who haven’t heard of his evil feats and how he boasts of his authoritative and tyrant nature?

I have not set my eyes on him before, but his name alone was enough to cause even the strong to shiver. And right now, I would prefer that the sword be used on me as life with alpha Jake would be suffering in perpetuity.

“Your marriage will be done in four days. Make sure you get everything ready before then” Carl announced.

Oh, there is a marriage in four days, my own marriage? Just four days and it is now that they deemed it fit to tell me about it. Just how worse could this get.

But then how did alpha Jake come to know of me, he has never seen me before, and surely he would not be aware of my frailness. Now, will he be able to tolerate anything about me? Or did they sell me off to the ruthless leader already?

What am I supposed to do within four days? How do I stop this marriage if I want to or how do I make the necessary preparations for it if I must go ahead with it?

People take months to plan their marriage ceremonies, and what do I get? Just four days to plan for it.

“Get out of here” Hedrick ordered.

Hearing his order, I did not wait for him to repeat himself before I practically ran out of the room without looking back. I don’t know where I was running to but I did not stop.

What was I supposed to do now, what can be done within these four days?

I was going to run off to Rich and tell him about this. I will beg him to take me with him and make me his. But then he might not agree to go with him because of the fear he has for my father. If he refuses to go with me, then I would request that we both elope, go somewhere very far away that no one would ever be able to find us.

But then if he persists in his rejection, I will have to go to Ray. He must see this time. What I have to tell him is very important and he cannot be busy for me now.

Ray would have to come for me and save me from this looming disaster. He is alpha too, right? Then he should be a match for alpha Jake.
