CHAPTER 25 – LOSING IT ALL
As I got to the gate of the Crystal Realms Pack House, I stopped and turned to have a look at the place which was my safe haven. Somewhere I had always come to whenever the tribulations were enormous for my little shoulder. Somewhere I had always found solace in has now turned around to be a thorn in my flesh.
I should have known this was going to happen. This was the reason why he had been avoiding me and making up unending excuses just to push me far away.
He should have called to talk to me about this right? Since we are friends. We have always been friends and he had always got my back, so what changed? No, nothing changed. This is who he truly is, and he only allowed me to see his true colours.
This would be the last I would be looking at this building or standing on its compound. In the next couple of days, I will be joined to another and it doesn’t matter whether I want it or not.
After I was done taking a last look, I sighed and walked out of the gates.
When I got to Lara, she was looking at me with a thousand and one questions waiting for answers. However, I ignored her and jumped on her back. “Move” I instructed.

LARA’S POV
I was walking into the mansion when I met with a messenger and he stopped me to ask for Scarlet.
“Is anything the matter? I am Scarlet’s personal maid and I could take a message for her” I inquired.
“She has a message from Rich, a letter” he replied as he held out a letter to me.
“A letter from Rich” I murmured as I collected the letter from the messenger.
“He said it should be delivered personally to Scarlet. But since you are her maid, then I trust you will not tamper with it” the messenger pleaded.
“Yes, sure, I will do as instructed” I replied.
“Or maybe you should take me to Scarlet” he requested.
“See, I have not seen Scarlet since morning and I would have loved to take you to her, but I wouldn’t want your presence to draw any attention if you know what I mean” I replied
Since after our visit to alpha Ray yesterday, Scarlet had barely said a word to me. I knew that a visit to alpha Ray was going to turn out very badly and I did all I could to abate it but her stubbornness wouldn’t let her listen to me.
She has been acting all cool since the visit but I know all is not well. She is dying inside of her and yet she is refusing to confide in me.
Immediately we got back to the mansion yesterday, the first thing she did was to send a secret message to Rich. I tried to find out the content of the letter but she did not oblige my request. Now I think the letter from Rich is in response to hers.
“Okay, if you say so. Please I have to take my leave now” he bowed and left.
“Goodbye,” I murmured.
I continued to stare at the letter in my hand and now I have to look for Scarlet and hand this letter over to her immediately.
Immediately I turned to go back inside, I saw Scarlet standing in front of me. I don't know how long she has been standing there, but she was staring at me with suspicion written all over her. I became worried as I had never seen her look at me that way before.
“Hey Scarlet” I greeted.
“And what is that in your hands?” she inquired without acknowledging my greeting.
The manner in which she asked the question made me very nervous. “A letter, there is a letter for you” I stuttered.
“And why are you with my letter?” she asked with piercing eyes.
“I am your maid and I am bringing them to you” I tried to avoid her gaze.
She did not say anything but stood there looking at me. It was obvious that she needed more answers from me, and this made me wonder what more she wanted to hear from me.
“The man, the one that left just now, he is a messenger from Rich and he brought the letter from Rich. Rich said that it should be delivered to you” I explained.
“So it shouldn’t be in your hands right?” she asked.
I have been with Scarlet forever and I have never seen her act this way before. Her attitude was creating fear in me and I was beginning to wonder what she was up to.
“I was bringing it to you” I replied.
Without saying any more words, she collected the letter from me and turned to go to her room while I followed behind her.
When she got to her room, she stopped and said. “You can leave now, Lara, I don’t need you”
“I am coming with you, Scarlet” I responded.
“And I just said that I don’t need you” she repeated.
“I am not leaving you, Scarlet, not in this state. I will rather embrace death this minute than leave you to yourself at a point like this” I replied in a low tone.
She ignored me and entered her room while I willingly entered with her.
“It is a letter from Rich” she announced as soon as she sat down on the old armchair.
I kept quiet and paid attention to her.
She looked at me. “You can sit, Lara, sit on the mat please” she offered.
“No, I will sit on the bare floor. Please pardon me” I replied and sat on the floor.
“But my mat is nothing,” she said.
“It is yours, Scarlet, and I have not right to use it” I replied.
She shook her head and opened the envelope.
She has been acting cold since yesterday’s return from Crystal Realms Pack. She has been so emotionless and acted so indifferent to every other thing which was unlike her.
She is usually very cheerful and carefree no matter the situation and right now, I can’t help but despise alpha Ray for making her go through this traumatic situation.
“I sent him a message yesterday and now he has replied to me,” she said.
“What was your message to him if I may be allowed to ask?” I asked.
“Everything, I informed him of everything that happened at Crystal Realms Pack, my visit to alpha Ray” she replied with no trace of emotion.
“What happened at Crystal Realms? Do you mind sharing that with me?” I appealed.
“You are a friend, Lara, and I will tell you everything. But I couldn’t help but think that you know about it before yesterday” she replied and shot a cold look at me.
With her look, I felt a rush of guilt all over me. I had betrayed her and I had no right to do that. I should not have kept anything away from her and I should have allowed her to deal with her issues herself and not try to stop anything.
But then, I did what I thought was right and I believed that it was in her best interest. Now it turned out that my choice was not the best and I hope that she finds it in her to forgive me.
“I know you did what you think was best for me in the situation and I appreciate your care. But next time, allow me to handle my problems my way” she added before I could find the time to respond.
“Thanks for finding it in you to forgive me, Scarlet, I know that I don’t deserve your forgiveness at this point and I am most grateful that you gave it to me” I replied in delight.
“Ray is with Gina. That is not a problem for me, but what I don’t seem to understand is why he believes she is his mate” she murmured.
I did not bother to say anything since I don’t have an answer to the question that she sought answers for.
“He sent me away, Lara, right in front of her. he allowed her to ridicule me, and then he went ahead to send me away and he ordered that I never set foot in Crystal Realms” she revealed.
“He did what?” I cried.
“I can bear his rejection, Lara, I could bear to see him with another. But then I cannot stand the hate. He was always there for me when no one else was. Now, why does he despise me so much? The thought of me disgust him and even now he had threatened to end my life if I dare to go against his order” she said.
“But then he… he… did you try to speak to Miller?” I tried to speak.
“No, Lara, say nothing. I have accepted everything just as they are. I was only a fool all along” she said.
She looked at the letter and after reading its content, she stared into space with her eyes holding so many unspoken words.
“What did the letter say, Scarlet, what is Rich’s message?” I asked anxiously.
Without moving her eyes, she responded to me. “I am going on with the marriage the day after tomorrow, Lara. I will soon be married to alpha Jake of Black Moon Pack and become his miserable luna. What can I do, they are all the same anyway?”
“And Rich?” I murmured.
“He said he can only come along with me as my personal trainer” she replied.
