Chapter 13
ANGELO WOKE up feeling lifeless. After what happened last night he even forced himself to sleep. I can’t believe he just left me like that.
He is sure now that it is not a dream. For the first time in real life, he saw him in pleasure, and Angelo knows he wants more. More of his Nick.
“Where is he? And what is he doing in the Philippines? ” he asked himself.
What happened last night suddenly entered his mind. That Mr. Chua is obviously bad news. For the first time, he encountered people in such a state, and truth to be told, he felt scared, really scared. Fortunately, Nick was there.
Speaking of that man, was he there for him? Or was it just plain coincidence?
Angelo was in the middle of his thoughts when his phone suddenly rang. Random number?
“Hello?”
(Oppa!)
Angelo’s brow furrowed. Oppa? “Who is this?”
(Ouch! You forgot me? You're so mean! Anyways, are you with D?)
“D? Oh!” Realization dawned on him. “Narae?”
(That’s me! The prettiest friend of your KJ sister.)
Angelo laughed softly. “Anyways, to answer your second question, nope. He’s not with me. Are you in the Philippines too?”
(Yep! The three of us got here all together yesterday. Do you happen to know where he is?)
He shook his head. “Nope. He said nothing.” He was moving quickly last night to get away from me. “How about Emy? Is she with you?”
Narae let out a sigh. (Actually, no. She was gone since this morning. She didn't tell us anything either. But uncle said that she’s probably busy troubleshooting a mess caused by an irresponsible decision of the board blah blah.) She was obviously bored when it came to serious talk.
He let out a chuckle. “Well, that summarizes everything. You know how Emy is.”
(Yeah. But we came all the way here for her and then she suddenly disappeared.)
Angelo smiled. “Where are you? Are you with Anurak?”
Narae instantly smiled. (Yep! He’s here. Why?)
“Let’s meet up on Heaven Taste.”
(Oh An would love that. Okay, Oppa! See you there! Bye!)
“Bye.” Angelo ended the call before he decided to take a quick shower. Fortunately, he had a few clothes in Wynter's condo unit.
Once settled, he left the unit and went out to ride a taxi.
ANGELO’S LUNCH with Narae and Anurak was fun. Just like the three of them are used to in LD, their story kept going. They even had their snack at Heaven Taste.
“Entertain me with your love life,” Angelo opened up.
Narae took a sip from her apple juice. “Oh, you mean s*x life?” She let out a chuckle. “The word love does not exist in our world, Oppa.”
Angelo smirked and rolled his eyes. “Yeah right.”
Narae laughed. “I’m serious. Plus I’m still twenty-one. Too early for me to find someone and settle down.”
“And she’s still studying,” Anurak pointed out. “Even Wynter only allows her to have s*x during weekends.”
“And it’s okay for you?” Angelo asked.
Narae shrugged before smiling. “I know Noona only wants what’s best for me. It's a good thing she still allows me.”
Angelo became even more curious. “What about your parents’ opinions towards that part of your life?”
“They’re fine with it. As long as I don’t get pregnant. Besides, they don't even care about me.”
Worry lined Angelo’s forehead. He wanted to ask about it but it felt like he'd invade her privacy, so he let it end there and focused on Anurak. “How about you?”
Anurak raised an eyebrow. “What about me?”
He smiled. “How’s your love life?”
“It never existed. I’m all games and work. Besides, I wanna focus on being a professor, it has always been my dream.”
“So no problems with clingy partners?” Angelo laughed softly when the faces of the two became sour.
“A lot, you mean. It's a good thing that An and I don't separate that much either.”
Anurak seemed to agree with Narae. “For goodness sake, I thought women are the only clingy creatures when it comes to s*x. But men are worse, I’m telling you.”
Narae nodded her head. “That's why sometimes I envy Noona. She has a friend with benefits. At least on that way, she wouldn’t worry about clinginess—”
“Yeah but isn’t that her current problem?” Anurak suddenly interrupted her.
“Oh right. Nevermind.”
Angelo became suddenly confused. “What do you mean?”
“Ate Wyn didn’t tell you?” Narae confusedly asked him.
“Told me what?”
“That my ex-boyfriend was my friend with benefits.”
Angelo turned to look at the person who answered his question. “What?”
Wynter rolled her eyes and sighed before sitting on the vacant chair beside her brother. “Just forget it. And never tell Dom.”
“Why not—” Angelo asked. “Wait. Where did you get those bruises and cuts?” Angelo fixed his sister’s hair and saw another bruise on her cheek. “What happened? Who did that?!”
Even Wynter's two friends were uneasy with her appearance. She looked like she went into a fight.
“Emy, answer me—”
“Calm down, Hermano. I’m fine.” She let out another sigh. "A patient of mine got violent but before I give her a shot her of sedative, she got near me, and well, the rest is history," Wynter explains.
The three calmed down a bit. They knew how dangerous Wynter’s job was. But… “Patient? Wait… You're not a psychiatrist yet,” Anurak pointed out.
“I train with Dr. Simoune. I wanna know more beyond the books,” Wynter answered naturally.
All three nodded at the same time. Wynter wants to always be the best. And any aspects she desired. That's why the youngest of the friends idolizes her, especially when it comes to relationships.
As their day continues, Wynter kept avoiding her past relationship topic and the three respected it. Even though Angelo wanted to punch someone.
“Have you seen D, Noona?” Narae suddenly asked Wynter.
The latter shook her head. “No, why?”
Anurak was the one who answered. “We’ve been trying to reach him since morning, and up until now, he still doesn’t answer our call.”
“He’s just probably working his ass off,” Wynter simply ended the topic with that and stood up. “Anyways, I better get going. I’ll fix the paperwork in my office first then I’ll go home. I still have homework.”
"I hope everyone is hardworking," both Anurak and Narae said as they stretched their arms and legs.
"Well, are you all leaving?" Everyone nodded at Angelo's question. “Okay then. I'll be left here. I still have to monitor the restaurant. ”
All of them bid goodbye, so Angelo focused on his work. Suddenly he felt someone staring at him so he looked at it, but no one was there. Weird. Angelo shrugged and went back to entertaining the customers.
