Chapter 16
CHARLES SAW how Angelo moved that night. He was tempting him. That silly guy wanted him to move on his own. To move towards him. But that can't happen. Not on Wynter's watch.
Charles let out a sigh as he entered his best friend's room. Angelo was the only one to leave LD last night because the four will stay in the penthouse.
“Clear my mind, Wyn,” he said as he sat on her bed.
At six AM, Wynter is expectedly awake and now working with the LUST DAWN’s documents.
Wynter sighed but continued with the papers. “Is this about my brother's obvious seduction attempt last night?”
"Yeah." It worked and it's driving me nuts right now. "He did not listen, Wyn," Charles said, nervously waiting for his best friend's response.
“You must've done something for him to hold on like that.”
Charles immediately remembered what had happened at Wynter's condo. “None that I know of.” I'm definitely going to hell because of this.
“Mmm-hmm. You know what I'm going to say. Why bother coming here to ask me to clear these to you?”
He let out a sigh as he looked at his best friend. “I’m tired, Wyn. I’m tired of pushing him away even though all I wanted was to be with him.”
The woman let go of the papers she was holding then looked at him. “Dom, you know how much I want you and my brother to be happy. Genuinely happy. But with the kind of life that we have, that'll never happen,” she tiredly explained.
Charles sat up. “I know that but—”
"Hurt him more, Dom. Because I don't know what I could do just to keep my brother safe." With that, Wynter left the room.
He immediately followed his friend into the kitchen. Anurak and Narae are still sleeping so it's okay for the two of them to talk about it.
“What more do you want me to say, Dom?” the woman asked even though her back was still facing him. “My decision stays the same, and it will always be. As long as this hell is our life, your life, I will never let my brother be with me. ”
“Okay.”
Wynter stopped moving and then faced him. “Okay?”
Charles seriously stared at her. “Yeah. Okay. But with one request.”
“I knew it.” Wynter sighed. “What is it then?”
“One last time. Let me be with him one last time. And I won't bother him again, nor see him.” Charles was close to begging and his best friend can surely see it.
“Williams—”
“Vazquez, trust me. Please.”
Wynter once again sighed. Her next words made Charles feel a mixture of emotions. He wanted to agree and at the same time disagree. He wasn't sure what exactly he's gonna do but one thing’s for sure, he needed it.
BACK AND forth, Angelo kept on walking and walking inside his condo unit. He has been smiling for hours to the point that he was mistaken for a madman.
He couldn't forget how he made fun of that guy. All the simple touches, the smirks, the looks he gave him. Angelo laughed again. God! It feels so good to get revenge.
He just sat down and stared at nothing. He was only able to execute step one but he is already excited about the outcome of his plan.
Believe it or not, he’s waiting for Charles to come knocking at his door and hell would break loose. Angelo wanted him to want him. If I won't succeed to steal his heart on the first try, then I'll just make him crazy over me.
Angelo was surprised when suddenly someone called him. It was just an unknown number but he still picked it up.
“Cortez, speaking.”
(Where… Where are you?)
Immediately his eyes widened. That… that voice! I know that voice!
“Nick?” he asked almost in a whisper.
(Of course, it's me. Unless you have someone else you want to talk to—)
Angelo ended the call. He couldn't believe his flirting really worked on him last night. It wasn't even my full force! He was supposed to give his seventy percent on step two. But I guess those simple stuff were enough—
His phone rang again. Still the same number, and he still answered.
(What happened?! Are you really dropping me a call—)
“Yes. Got a problem with that?” Angelo smirked.
He cannot be the only one who has suffered from the beginning. He has to look like he’s just playing with it. Besides, that’s what Narae and Anurak taught him when it comes to dealing with Charles.
(Don't do that again—)
Angelo turned off the call again, then laughed softly. This is really fun. I should thank those two later. She was shaken and smiled at what she was doing.
Angelo thought he would call it again so just before it happened there was a knock on the door of his condo unit.
H-He’s here? Angelo looked at the clock. Is that the reason why he was asking where I was? He just shrugged while grinning to himself and went to the door to open it only to be greeted by a heavy punch which made him unconscious.
CHARLES was on his way to Angelo’s unit. He dropped the call several times before and he's getting pissed. He looks like he's being toyed with. Is that my payment? For hurting him in the past?
Charles shook his head and focused on the road while still thinking of what to do. He was planning a lot of things. It may confuse Angelo but this is the only and last way of showing his affection. The few years he had hidden his feelings for it he was ready to let go. Even in my own little, confusing way. He shook his head.
While driving he received a call from Wynter which he immediately answered.
“Hey, Wyn.”
(Are you driving?) Wynter calmly asked.
“Mmm yeah. Why?”
(Park your car somewhere safe.)
He frowned but followed suit. When he's finally done parking his car, he asked her, “Is there something wrong?”
(It’s about mí Hermano.)
Charles thanked Wynter for telling him to park his car first before telling the news. “Wh-What about him?”
(My fear. It’s happening, Dom.)
With that, Charles drove as fast as he could. He turned off the call first before he hurried back to LUST DAWN.
If Wynter’s fear is happening, then that group must be really brave. Because they're about to face the hell of Vazquez and Williams.
