Twenty Four
"Elder Peter's!" Alpha Killan growled as a warning, but he ignored him.
"I was coming in to ask Camila if it's true the doctor has passed away, but then I saw Luna Alina walking in. With the smirk on her face, I knew she was up to something. Why would she follow Camila in here when you had made it clear that no one would be coming in to see her? At the door, I witnessed everything. Do you know for how long I have been standing behind that pillar, trying to tell myself that I haven't seen that but am just dreaming? Who can do that to a fellow human? Snatch a needle from their hands and push it into their skin until it disappears. What could you have done if it was Camila who had done it to her? You could be fuming by now, threatening to throw her at the starving wolves den, but now that it's Alina who has done it, you don't want to hear it. What kind of hypocrisy is this?" Elder Peter's spat
"Let's talk about the fall. When Alina wasn't satisfied with the fact that Camila did nothing to her despite her doing that animalistic and demonic thing to her, she followed her behind. Only God knows what she was about to do to her because she had the same smirk on her face she wore while walking into her room, but Camila stumbled due to the pain. Do you know what she did after she saw her stumble?" Elder Peter chuckled, pacing the hallways. "She saw that as an opportunity to do all that had brought her here all along. She ran to her, and instead of helping Camila from falling because she could have done it if she wanted, she laid on the spot she knew Camila would fall at, and when poor Camila did fall on her, she screamed at the top of her voice, and you, being stupid, rushed in, slapping Camila, thinking she pushed her, but poor Camila, after she sensed someone beneath her, stood on her feet, forgetting all the pain, and gave her her hand to help her stand." He shook his head.
"That's not it. Do you know how that needle passed through the other end? She pushed it deeper when Camila fell on her. Now tell us, what are you going to do to her? Or are you going to call me a liar? Throw me into the wolves den? Lock me up in the dungeon? Or whip me a hundred times a day while demanding that I scrub the toilets on top of all that?" The elder asked, locking gazes with him. Silence reigned in the room as everyone waited for Alpha Killan's response. There was a pin-drop silence, a silence that could make even the falling of a sponge be heard by people. Hearts raced with anticipation, others with fear, and some with relief. Alpha Killan took a deep breath, and with a not-loud, not-low voice, he turned to face the quivering Alina in his arms and then said:
"She has done it; I agree, but I am also sure she did it in self-defense. I know Alina better than anyone, and she will never do such a thing. So, my people, there is no need for you to harbor hatred towards your Luna because, as I have told you, she did it as self-defense, right Luna Alina?" He asked despite Elder Peter's telling him everything, causing everyone to gasp in shock. What kind of Alpha ignores the truth even when it's brought to light? Alpha Killan ignored people's gasps, docked his head to Alina's level, and kissed her forehead.
"Yes, babe. When I walked into her room, I wanted to see if she was okay because she is from the hospital, but on seeing me, she threatened to stab me with the needle. I asked her to stop it because I'd go out of her room and never come back, but she closed the door, pushed me against the wall, and threatened to stab me in the neck. See, this is the evidence," she titled her head to show the bruise mark that she had done to herself with a piece of wire before walking on there. "I pleaded with her, telling her that I'd give her everything she wanted. I was even ready to divorce you for her, but she said that it was my life she wanted, so I was left with no choice but to snatch that needle from her and stab her in the leg. I didn't intend to make the bruise serious; that was not what I had intended; I just wanted to make a small bruise so that she could let me go. Alina sobbed, burying her head in Alpha Killan's chest.
"You all have heard it, yeah?" Alpha Killan turned to face anyone present in there. "Elder Peter's, I have treated you with nothing but respect, but seeing you accuse your Luna today is really heartbreaking. I guess my wife here was true," he said, nudging at Alina. "Camila will make sure that she turns everyone against me so that everyone will start seeing me and my Luna as the culprits, but in reality she is the one. First, she killed Grandpa at the hospital during the commotion, then came back here and said that it was my men who did it. Do you all want to know why she killed Grandpa? It's because my dear grandpa, the founder of this pack, caught her making a call to the goons that abducted my wife and her driver and took our baby away from us. That was the same moment that the police walked in, and when he handed her over to them, she pushed him; he hit the glass table behind him with the back of his head, and no matter how hard the police tried to tell the nurses at the hospital what had happened, Camila told the nurses that the police were lying and Grandpa was safe. She wanted him to die so that he would never testify against her."
"What? I.. I didn't do that. Camila cried, trying to make everyone believe that she didn't do it.
"You didn't? Are you calling me a liar once again?" Killan smirked, turning to face her. "The police who brought you here told me everything that had happened, and since you love evidence that much, here it is," he said, pressing the smart watch on his wrist where he had recorded the police officers who admitted that it was her who had done it.
"For killing Grandpa, threatening your Luna's life, killing her unborn child, and all the other deeds you have done in the past, I, Alpha Killan of this pack, banish you, Camila Rasort, from this pack." Alpha Killan's voice was followed by a heavy silence.
"That's not the plan, you fool! Punish her! I want her to work at the underground library." Alina wanted to scream but remained silent.
"And you, Beta Steven, for going against me; you are no longer the beta of this pack. This goes to Elder Peter's as well for accusing Luna falsely. I say that both of you shall be locked in the dungeon for three months with a hundred whips each day. Anyone who wants to take their side?" Killan asked, scanning his eyes above everyone whose heads were bowed in fear.
"As for Camila, she'll be taken out of the pack at midnight, where rogues are believed to be ruling the border. Let her get ripped into pieces because that's what she deserves, but until then, she should be whipped under the scorching sun for making us go through all this pain because as of today, peace shall reign back at the pack." With that, Alpha Killan walked out of the quarters with Alina in his arms and the guards trailing behind them. It was only three people who were left in the hallways with thoughts rushing through their minds.
'I am so sorry that I brought you all into this." Camila apologized to Beta Steven's and Elder Peter's after a heavy, disturbing silence.
"We should be sorry to you because we knew that you had been right all along, but we never took your side." Elder Peter apologized, holding her hands in his.
"Yeah, we are sorry, Camila." Beta Steven chuckled, pulling her into his arms. "I can't believe this is the last time we will be seeing each other." Steven said this while shedding some tears.
"We are sorry, Camila, that we can't save you from this." Elder Peter joined their hug. Their moment was interrupted shortly because three guards came in and cuffed their hands, dragging them out of the hallway. Camila was the first one to be tied against the tree, where she was whipped a hundred times under Alpha Killan's order and supervision. What shocked people was that she didn't even shed a tear. She had her eyes locked with Beta Steven's and Elder Peter's, who were looking at her with pity.
"I want her to scream." Alpha Killan's voice came through the raptures of her skin; she was soaked with blood, and the only thing visible were her eyes. "Take this!" he ordered, throwing another whip at the guards. It was made of thorns, and everyone gasped in shock. Some were even crying on her behalf. The guards who were given that whip too were shocked, and they kept whispering to her, asking her to cry before they used it on her. But she never cried; maybe it was because she was used to pain, or she had turned numb from being subjected to that kind of pain, or due to something else that she only knew. Her skin was completely torn from her body. It had been ripped off until all her bones were exposed to the world. Dogs sorrounded her, licking the pool of blood formed below her feet, and birds of the air flew past her, picking up the pieces of her skin stuck on the whip and those that had scattered everywhere.
She was human, so she was bound to give in to the pain and torment, and it was in that state where she was about to lose her last breath that she turned to Elder Peter's and Beta Steven's and gave them her word: Do you know why my father, Alpha Cameroon, despises me so much? It's because she said my strong will to live always made me evade death. I haven't lost hope yet, and in this state, I still give you my word: I, Camila Rasort, shall come back soon and take you out of this pain that I subjected you two to, but before that, let's go for a while; I need to take a little bit of rest from all this." She raised her pinky finger to them, which now had nothing but bones, and the moment they had it intertwined with theirs, she went silent as she slowly fell into the darkness, which was suddenly lit by the stars, and the moon took her to another world.
In that state, on her journey to a faraway land, she heard the man she loved with all her heart still giving out orders: "Carry her away from here and throw her to the farthest forest of this pack because someone cursed like her is bound to be finished off by the rogue wolves. Not even one of her bones shall be buried because even in that death state she is still banished!"
Silence reigned over the pack, everyone looking at the body left with bones laying on the ground. The sun, which had watched over the agony Camila had gone through, disappeared behind some thick, heavy, dark clouds that came from nowhere. Lightning struck, causing people to scream in fear. Those who tried to turn on the flashlight on their phones gasped because, when they tried to do so, they turned themselves off. Their panicked cries angered the sky because, amid their screams, another lightning strike struck, causing the darkness to thicken. A rumble followed, causing an emergency earthquake. Elder Peter, who was a sire and knew what all that meant, rose, and his voice could be heard across the country, piercing through the thick darkness and loud rumbles, saying, "The gods are angered, so if we all want to survive this darkness, there shall be a pin-drop silence, the same silence we all had let reign over here when the life of our Luna Camila, the chosen daughter of the moon gods, was snatched away from her in that cruel manner in our presence.
No one dared go against his words, even the ruthless Alpha Killan. The darkness had covered the whole world, Camila's death being played on the sky which had turned into a vast screen and after her last words promising Elder Peter's and Beta Steven's to come back, one last lightening struck, one last rumble was heard and the screen above them disapered The heavy clouds were driven away by a strong sudden wind and the sun shone again, with much more scorching effect which made people's feet to burn.
After a minute, the scorching heat went away, the sun set all of a sudden and a heavy rain poured down into the land carrying the remnants of Camila's flesh with it's flowing water's, washing her blood away through their forming small streams and it was in that moment when nothing of Camila was left that the rain stopped, the light came back again, the sun shone with no scorching effect and everything went back to normal.
All eyes went to Camila's dead body on the ground; to their shock, she was covered with a sheet, and it was only her face that was left visible. The guards who were instructed to throw her body away did as they were asked; they didn't want to do it after all that had happened, but something in them pushed them to. Camila's dead body was banished, and Elder Peter's and Beta Steven's were jailed.
"We'll be waiting for you, Camilla." Peter and Steven whirled in unison, accepting their fate.
