CHAPTER 20: CEO'S WIFE
When Red left, Chelsea immediately thought of a way to make up for him. She immediately thought of cooking for him, but she didn't know what to cook, and maybe he wouldn't like her cooking.
She went to the living room to think of something easy to cook that Red would like when she saw all the maids busy. It looks like there is general cleaning going on in the mansion.
"Put it over there... and why is it still here?... Hurry up, we don't have all day to clean the mansion... Have the stairs been cleaned?... Well, check on you... You two, help me clean the upstairs..." Manang Fe said.
Manang Fe is considered the head of the maids in the Buenavistas' mansion. Aside from being the oldest, she is also the one the Buenavistas most trust.
"Manang, take it easy," Chelsea said when she saw Manang Fe screaming.
"Good morning to you! I'm sorry for the noise. I'm rushing these things because we still have a lot to do," Manang Fe said while wiping the window.
"Is that so? Alright, let me help you there. I'll take care of that so you can start the rest of your work," Chelsea said as she approached the window to clean it.
"No, ma'am, I can do this by myself. You don’t need to help." Manang Fe refused Chelsea's offer.
"I'm serious. How about... If I help you, hmm, please help me think of something to cook for Red. I'd like to bring him lunch at the company later..." Chelsea said with a smile.
"Is that so? But are you sure you can do it? If you can't and you're tired, just call me." Manang Fe brought cleaning supplies to Chelsea.
Chelsea started cleaning the window while Manang Fe went straight to what she had to do. It took more than three hours before they finished cleaning the entire mansion. The tiredness on their faces is visible. Chelsea immediately checked her phone and checked the time. It's 10:06 a.m. She quickly went to her room and took the laptop to search for things to cook.
Chelsea passed by the Pinoy taste site. While looking for something to cook there, she can feel that she is about to drool because of how delicious the foods are posted there. But there is one problem. Does Red eat this kind of food?
Since it was 10 a.m., she just chose foods she was familiar with to make her cooking easier. She took a piece of paper and a ballpoint pen and listed there the things that should be cooked. After choosing, she quickly went to the kitchen while carrying her laptop.
"Manang Fe, what are you doing here?" she asked when she saw Manang Fe in the kitchen.
"Aren't I going to help you cook?" Manang Fe said, which made Chelsea smile.
Chelsea showed the selected dishes that she thought Red would also like. Manang Fe nodded when she saw them.
Sautéed green beans, pork steak, and adobong pusit.
"Good thing we have all the ingredients for those." Manang Fe is specific about the foods that Chelsea wants to prepare.
They started cooking. Chelsea handles everything, while Manang Fe is in charge of measuring the spices. She boiled water in a pan. When the water started to boil, Chelsea put the munggo beans in it. She also started taking a big bowl and putting the pork chop, 5 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 2 pieces of calamansi in it and marinating the pork before setting it aside and letting it marinate for over an hour. After finishing the marinating, she started to prepare the adobong pusit. She also spent more than two and a half hours finishing the preparation.
"Yes! It's finally over!" Chelsea said happily when her cooked food was ready.
Manang Fe smiled when she saw that Chelsea was happy that she finished cooking. Manang Fe is also sure that Red will like it because she tasted it herself and Chelsea's cooking is really delicious.
"You can share the leftovers we cooked because no one else will eat them," Chelsea said before saying goodbye and telling her to get dressed so she could get ready and leave.
When she was done with the arrangement, she immediately looked for Kuya Roy and sent her to Buenavista's Company with the food she had cooked for Red.
Chelsea worriedly grabbed her phone and checked the time. It was 1 pm, and Red might have eaten lunch already. It's a shame he can't eat what she cooks.
"Kuya Roy, how long will it take us to get there?" Chelsea asked worriedly.
"Just 10 minutes, ma'am, and we'll be there. It will be quick because there's no traffic." Kuya Roy answered.
After a while, they arrived in front of the company. She asked Kuya Roy to wait for her because she was only going to hand the food to Red. She hurriedly got out of the car and went straight to the elevator. She was waiting for the elevator to open when she heard whispers from people.
"That's the CEO's wife?"
"Yup, that's her. It looks like she came to bring food to Mr. Buenavista. How sweet!"
"She's not really beautiful in person; she's just white."
"Don't be loud, she might hear you. We might get fired because of your judgmental tongue!"
Chelsea heard every single word they said. She didn't pay attention to it, and when the elevator opened, she immediately got on it. When she entered, her phone suddenly rang. It was an unknown number.
[Chelsea, this is Mark. I'm here now at your favorite ice cream shop, waiting for you. I hope you come.]
Chelsea's blood immediately warmed to what she read. He still didn’t stop pestering her. He is not really satisfied with her traitorous sister, and he really wants to get back together with her.
When Chelsea arrived in front of Red's office, someone suddenly blocked her.
"Over here, ma'am, may we ask what business you have with the CEO?" a woman said as she pointed the way to the waiting room.
The companion approached her and whispered, "Vera, what are you doing? She's the CEO's wife."
"Yes, Vera, apologize quickly or we will be fired for what you are doing!" one of them added.
Vera frowned and looked at Chelsea from head to toe and glared at her. "I don't care who she is or what position she has here. Everyone has to make an appointment. And one more thing, the CEO has an important meeting today," Vera said.
Chelsea raised her eyebrows. She didn't know why she would treat her like that.
One of Vera's companions immediately spoke and silenced her. "We're very sorry, ma'am, for our colleague's actions. I'm sorry." She said it shyly.
Chelsea just stared at her and immediately grabbed the phone from her pocket and called Red.
"I'm outside your office; are you free?" Chelsea boldly asked, which surprised Vera.
"What are you doing?!" Vera shouted.
"Well, you said everyone needs to make an appointment first, so I'm making an appointment." Chelsea continued to tease her, which made Vera even angrier.
Vera was about to pull Chelsea out when suddenly a man next to them spoke.
"My wife comes to see me; why does she still need to make an appointment? When was this rule established, Ms. Jones?"
The four of them faced Red, who had just arrived.
Vera's facial expression suddenly changed due to nervousness.
"M-mr. Buenavista... S-sir, it's not about that," Vera said.
The two comrades bowed in shame. Red immediately came and grabbed Chelsea's hand and grabbed her waist.
"You don't need to explain. You're fired," Red said seriously before slamming his office door shut.
Vera was left stunned and obviously regretted what she had said. Meanwhile, Red looked angrily at Chelsea when they entered his office.
"Why are you always letting people bully you? Don't you know how to fight?" he said, becoming annoyed before sitting in his chair.
Chelsea took out the food she had brought. "That's why I called you right away," she said as she prepared the food.
Red looked at him very seriously, which she immediately noticed.
"What? Why are you looking like that?" she asked Red in surprise.
"What are these for? Do you have a fever?" Red asked when he saw that the food prepared by Chelsea was for him.
"Consider that I'm thanking you because you cooked for me this morning, and I'm also sorry because I didn't listen to you when you were talking. You know I'm as hungry as you are after you talk so much; of course, I really can't understand anything anymore and just focus on eating," Chelsea said innocently.
Red chuckled a little at what he said, but he didn't show it. "Just make sure it tastes good, or I will deduct it from your salary!" Red scares her.
"Hey! You're so bad! Why will you do that? You’re so ungrateful!" Chelsea asked in shock.
Red smiled even more when she took what he said seriously. That's why he just continued to tease her.
"The ingredients you used to cook this came from me. If it's not good, just throw it away, just like you just threw away my money." he added.
"You, you know, your wealth is your wealth, but you are a very stingy person. Don't worry, I asked Manang Fe to help, and according to her, my cooking is delicious." Chelsea said proudly.
"Could it be poison?" Red asked further.
Chelsea looked at him, annoyed, and took the food out, preparing to put it back in the bag.
"Oh, what are you doing?" Red asked in surprise when he saw that she was already covering the food.
"You know, if you don't want to eat it, say it right away!" Chelsea said, annoyed as she bent over.
"I am just joking... That's mine. I haven't eaten yet," Red said as he pulled the food back.
He started to taste it. He tasted the pork steak first, and he was surprised because, just like Chelsea said, it was delicious. That's why he continued eating and enjoying them.
Chelsea noticed a photo of a girl in Red's bookcase, so she immediately approached her.
"Who is she?" she asked Red, who was busy munching his lunch.
"Hmm?" Red asked suddenly and saw that she was pointing at a photo. "My sister." It was a short answer, and he went back to eating.
"Ah, she's your sister... She’s beautiful and you seem to have the same eyes, a bit narrow." Chelsea said while staring at his photo. Red didn't pay attention to her because he was busy eating.
After looking at the photo, she sat on the sofa and stared at Red while eating. Red noticed that she was staring, so he raised an eyebrow at her because she was chewing and couldn’t say a single word.
"Why did you fire Vera earlier?" Chelsea asked.
Red swallowed what he was chewing before he spoke, "What right does he have to treat you like that?"
"Mhmm, maybe you’re right, but... You know, I just thought, she's just doing her job; she’s right about that part; it's just the wrong thing to do," Chelsea said.
"So what do you want me to do?" Red suddenly asked and continued eating.
"Well, just don't fire her. Maybe it's better if you reprimand her instead of firing her. I don’t want her to lose her job just because of that one mistake, and besides, I want them to like me." Chelsea said calmly.
"Are you sure?" Red immediately asked. Maybe Chelsea was just being kind.
"Yes"
"Okay," Red said, which immediately made Chelsea happy. It seems like she was able to tame the demon now.
Red immediately reached for his phone and called Ms. Dein right away.
"Tell Ms. Jones to come here to my office," Red said briefly, then immediately hung up the phone and continued eating.
