CHAPTER 22: WON'T LET YOU GO
CHELSEA
It's a beautiful day today. The sky is clear, the sun is not that hot, and another thing is that the touch of the wind on my skin is very cold. Here I am now in the living room, arranging the flowers I picked from the garden earlier. I couldn't do anything else, so I thought that was the only thing to do.
As I was getting ready, I noticed someone approaching me, so I immediately looked at them. What are they doing here? Didn't they leave the mansion? What is the scene between these two? I hope they will not pester me anymore. I don't have time to deal with them.
"Mother, Sofia, you're back."
I can see the immediate change in their facial expression. It went from being calm to being agitated. "Stop calling me mother! You are nothing to become my daughter, and you should be ashamed of yourself," she snarled.
Here we go again. Redemon's mom is always really mad at me. That's why I don't want to be left here in the mansion with her because she might suddenly have a heart attack out of anger. I will definitely be the one to blame.
She took something from her bag and dropped it on the table—photos. What could this be?
"Now tell me you're still worthy of my son after seeing any man! Slut!" It was a shout that immediately surprised me.
"Auntie, don't get too angry... That's not good for your health." Sofia said worriedly.
What is there in the photo, and why is she so angry at me? What does she mean when she says she has seen me with other men? I picked them up and looked at them one by one. Photo of Mark and I in front of PureGold. It seems that they misunderstood what was happening again.
"Mother..." I stopped what I was going to say when she suddenly shouted.
"I said, don't call me mother!" she screamed.
"Fine, Mrs. Buenavista, if you meet a man on the road who talks to you, are you also considered a slut? If that's what you believe, are all people sluts?" She was immediately dumbfounded by what I said, and it seemed to annoy her even more.
"Why did you stop and talk to him when you could just ignore him?" Sofia interjected.
I took a deep breath as I close my eyes, trying to calm myself from this narrow-minded human being. "Well then, I'll change it so you can understand better. If you were in my position..."
"Stop. I don't want to hear your shitty explanation. Just don't say anything. There's nothing I can do for my son. You're married to him, and there's nothing I can do because Red wants it. Just don't do anything that will bring shame to him. Do you understand?" Mrs. Buenavista seriously stated.
I nodded in response to what she said.
"Don't make the slightest mistake, Chelsea. I know that man."
"Mark? He's my ex, and Red knows Mrs. Buenavista," I explained, and she frowned.
"What? And my son agreed even though you are doing this to him?" Mrs. Buenavista asked angrily.
"How dare you tell Red about your ex?" Sofia added.
I’m totally right; this girl is just waiting for an opportunity to show her true colors.
"I'm not doing anything wrong. So why should I hide it from him?" I said, defending myself.
I can feel the change in her aura. She seemed annoyed by what I said. Honestly, why would I be embarrassed to tell Red about that if I'm not really doing anything wrong?
She suddenly came to Red's mom and held her close. "Auntie, if only this kind of woman can be with Red, he will really be ruined in the eyes of the public because of what she will do," she said like a demon whispering to Red's mom.
"Heh—that's the attitude of the lower classes. People who have no shame in their bodies," Mrs. Buenavista said.
I really won't get anything if I just hang out with them. I'm just wasting my time. I know for myself that Red's mom won't like me no matter what I do because she wants Sofia for her son.
Wait—what time is it? I immediately took my phone out of my pocket to check the time. It's almost lunchtime. I still need to fix the food I cooked earlier for Redemon.
"If you don't have anything else nice to say, I'll go first." I said and walked to the kitchen.
"Where are you going? To your ex?" Mrs. Buenavista said sarcastically.
"Red liked the lunch I prepared for him yesterday, so I prepared it for him again today." I raised my forehead to them.
"Red liked the food you cooked? Maybe Red just pretended to like it so you wouldn't get hurt," Sofia said with a smile.
"You should let us taste what you cooked, I wanted to know if my son really liked what you were serving him," Mrs. Buenavista added.
I'm not really going to be fooled by these two. I just nodded and went straight to the kitchen. Fortunately, Manang Fe is also here.
"Manang, can you cook for Mrs. Buenavista and Sofia?" I asked her. Fortunately, she agreed, and she prepared food for them. If those two are smart, I will definitely be smarter.
A few minutes later, I came out of the kitchen carrying the food for Red. I saw them on the sofa, and it looked like they were really waiting for my food.
"I'm leaving. I have the maid prepare the food; just wait," I said and passed them.
I heard the two talking before I finally got out, but I ignored it and went straight ahead. I went straight to the garage, but I didn't see the car that Kuya Roy always drives; it looks like he left. I have no choice but to commute today. I went straight to the bus and immediately got on it.
…
Meanwhile, when Manang Fe finished preparing the food, Butler Lee immediately went to call Mrs. Buenavista and Sofia.
"Madame, Miss Sofia, your meal is ready." Butler Lee picked them up with a smile and brought them to the dining table.
After sitting down, they noticed the dishes prepared for them. "I didn't know she was such a good cook; these look delicious," said Mrs. Buenavista.
The two started eating when Sofia suddenly stopped eating. "Auntie, why does this taste so familiar? It's like I've tasted it before," Sofia asked as she tasted the dishes one by one.
"Yes, Butler Lee, who did this?" Mrs. Buenavista seriously inquired.
"Madame, Manang Fe prepared that for you to celebrate your return to the mansion," Butler Lee answered.
Mrs. Buenavista suddenly threw her spoon on the table and said, "That girl is really good! You dare to play with me!" she screamed and stormed out of the dining room.
…
The bus that Chelsea was riding stopped in front of Buenavista Company, so she immediately got off and went straight inside the company. She heard people's whispers again, but because she was in a hurry, she didn't pay attention to them. She just got on the elevator and hit the floor where Red's office was. When the door opened, it went straight to Red's office, but there was no one inside. Even in the hallway, you won't see any passing workers who look like they are busy.
That's why Chelsea decided to leave the food on Red's table. Before she left, she took out her phone and texted Red.
[I left your lunch here in your office. Don't forget to eat it. okay? If the food gets cold, make sure to have Ms. Dein warm it up so you can still enjoy the food. I'm going home. Good luck with your meeting! ]
Chelsea immediately left Red's office when she suddenly met Vera. She bowed to pay respect to her. "Mrs. Buenavista... Are you looking for boss? He is in a meeting right now if you want; just wait for him in his office." He offered it to Chelsea, but Chelsea just shook her head and refused it.
"No, I just left his lunch. I'm leaving too," Chelsea said before walking into the elevator.
After leaving the Buenavista company, she decided to take a walk before riding home. She knows that when she goes home, she will catch up with Mrs. Buenavista and Sofia. During her walk, her eyes fell on a bake shop. From outside, she could smell the aroma of the bread there. That's why she immediately went in and looked for bread to buy. After choosing, she also bought coffee to pair with the bread she was going to eat. After paying, she left the bake shop.
She thought of looking for a book store to hang out at and pass the time there. She walked around, and eventually, she saw a bookstore on the other street. She immediately crossed the street and went straight inside the bookstore. Fortunately, there weren't too many people inside, so she found a place to sit peacefully. She put her things down before standing up and looking for a book to read. In her search, someone suddenly grabbed her hand and immediately pulled her to the end of the shelf.
"Chelsea, why won't you pick up my calls? I changed my number so many times just to call you. I also sent you a lot of texts and emails. Why are you ignoring me? Do you hate me this much?" He said this while firmly holding Chelsea's hand.
Chelsea immediately pulled her hand away to get out of his grip. "I don't hate you, Mark," Chelsea said calmly.
"Then why?" Mark asked.
Chelsea stared at his appearance, it looked like he hadn't slept for several days because of the blackness of his undereye. It also looks like he is losing his sanity because of what happened.
"Why would I answer the call of someone I don't know?" Chelsea asked back.
His expression immediately changed. It's like he can't believe what's happening. "Don't you love me anymore?... Don't you really have feelings for me anymore, Chelsea? Didn't we promise that we would never leave each other no matter what? Why don't you keep your word? Is it because of that Buenavista?" Mark asked angrily.
"Shh! If you're going to fight, you two should just get out. You're disturbing my other customers." An old lady who looked like a bookstore keeper shouted at them.
Chelsea quickly took her things and left the bookstore. Mark didn't let her go and continued to follow behind her, trying to entice her to talk to him.
"I know it's not that easy to forget what I did to you, Chelsea. But I hope your heart will learn to forgive me. I regret everything. I'm trying so hard to make it up to you, so please, please give me a chance... I really love you—"
"Could you please stop? When you had your affair with Maxine, did you think about your love for me? Did you think about what would happen to your decisions in life before you did that? So please just stop! I don't want to see your face or even your shadow again!" Chelsea said angrily, which surprised Mark.
He couldn't believe that this was the result of his cheating on Chelsea. He was about to speak when his phone rang. He took it and answered.
"....I understand; I'll be there soon."
He looked at Chelsea again and said, "Something came up; I need to go first. Chelsea, I definitely won't let you go!" He said this before leaving Chelsea.
