CHAPTER 44: INTERROGATION
"Sir, I heard that the police know which island they went to. Should we send someone to that island?" Ms. Dein asked Red urgently as they were in the car on their way to the police officer. Red immediately looked at his secretary and said, "Turn the car around. We're not going to the police, we're going straight to that island. Send some people to start the search." Red said it seriously. Ms. Dein nodded and immediately followed her boss's orders.
Time was running out, and it was only increasing Red's anxiety and fear. He didn't know if Chelsea was in good condition or if he was in danger. So he didn't want to waste any more time.
While they were on their way, Ms. Dein's phone suddenly rang. She answered it and Red couldn't help but look over. He hoped it was information about Chelsea.
"Sir, we won't be able to get to that island because of the bad weather... The yacht won't be able to sail across the sea to get there..." Ms. Dein told Red. Red immediately furrowed his brow at what his secretary said. "Prepare a helicopter. I don't care if there's a storm or bad weather, we need to get to that island." Red said it directly and clenched his fist.
Ms. Dein didn't waste any more time and called some people to prepare the helicopter for their trip to Sofi's Paradise, the island where Red last spoke to Chelsea. He had a strong feeling that something wrong had happened to his wife, and he would only find out once he reached that island.
Their car was driving so fast that it only took them more than an hour to get there. Red got out of the car immediately. They were greeted by the cars of the police and many people that they had sent to help in the search for Chelsea.
"Any update, officer?" Red asked the officer who approached him.
"We are still having trouble sending people to the island because of the strength of the storm, sir. I won't risk the lives of my people just to sail to that island." The police officer said.
Red's temper flared upon hearing this. "If you don't plan on sending your people to the island, what are you doing here? I didn't send the police here just to stand around and wait for the storm to stop, officer." Red said angrily.
The officer hung his head. He didn't know what to say to Red because they didn't want to risk the lives of the police there just to sail across the sea. They could have problems while on the water, and it could also cause danger to them.
"Ms. Dein, how's the helicopter that I ordered earlier?" He asked his secretary.
"Ah--- wait, sir... It will be here in 10 minutes sir..." Ms. Dein said after checking her phone. Red quickly walked towards the helicopter landing area. Ms. Dein followed him, struggling to walk in her sandals. She couldn't walk properly because of the strength of the wind and rain.
Ms. Dein chased after Red to protect him from the rain but he was walking so fast that he seemed to not care about getting drenched in the rain and didn't mind if he got soaked. In a little while, their awaited helicopter arrived. Red spoke to the pilot and when he was done, he immediately faced Ms. Dein.
"You will stay here. Only I will go. Send three more helicopters to pick up the people I sent. We will wait for you on the island." Red said hurriedly so Ms. Dein had no choice but to do as she was told. As her boss instructed, she immediately did it and returned to the police to discuss if there were any other ways to sail to the island.
…
The pilot began flying the helicopter with Red and some of his men that he had sent to find Chelsea. Because of the strength of the rain, it would really be difficult for ships or boats to sail there because of the fog that would greet them.
Hang on my love... I'm coming... Red thought to himself as he clenched his fist. He couldn't help but pray that Chelsea was on the island and in good condition despite the strong storm. He began to think of bad things that could happen to Chelsea but he knew in himself that it wouldn't help and would only increase his worry so he immediately dismissed it from his mind and prayed to God to guide them and put Chelsea in a safe place.
When they arrived on the island, Red immediately noticed a villa on the island. The surroundings were also full of fallen trees. This was surely a result of the storm. When they landed, Red's men immediately moved and searched the area. Red entered the villa. It was very dark inside and you couldn't see anything so it was difficult for him to enter and help with the search. He returned to the helicopter and got a flashlight before reentering the villa.
Upon entering, he saw broken glass that upon observing, came from the walls and doors. Most of the walls of the villa were made of glass. He walked slowly because the floor of the villa was wet and slippery and if he wasn't careful, he could slip.
As he searched, he ended up at the stairs leading to the second floor of the villa. He was about to climb it when he suddenly heard a shout from one of his men to help search for Chelsea.
"There's a woman here!" One of his men shouted. Red immediately searched for the source of the voice. His feet took him to the living room where he saw Chelsea lying on the couch. His man gently woke her up, but she was already unconscious. His man checked her pulse and Red breathed a sigh of relief when he found out she still had a pulse.
He immediately looked at her left hand which was wrapped in a cloth almost filled with blood. He approached Chelsea and gently woke her up.
"Sir, we need to take her to the hospital as soon as possible because her pulse is getting weaker and she has a wound, and based on the color of the blood, it's been there for a while. She could run out of blood if we don't act fast." His man said.
Red immediately picked up Chelsea. When he picked her up, he noticed her phone that had fallen to the floor. He ordered his men to bring Chelsea's things to the helicopter.
When they left the villa, the strong wind greeted them. Red gently covered Chelsea's face with his chest to protect her from the rain. When they arrived at the helicopter, his men greeted them and immediately helped put Chelsea inside.
When they were inside, his men offered them a towel, which Red wrapped around Chelsea while he hugged her. His men offered to carry Chelsea for him, but he refused and carried her himself while his men prepared the helicopter for takeoff.
…
Meanwhile, while Ms. Dein was waiting for the helicopters that Red had ordered, they noticed the arrival of a helicopter appearing from the fog. She immediately headed for the landing site. She was not mistaken because when the door of the helicopter opened, Red appeared while carrying Chelsea. Several of Red's men got off and left the two inside.
"Should I call 911 sir?" Ms. Dein asked immediately, while worrying as she looked at Chelsea, who was unconscious.
"No. It will take too long if we call. Hop in, we don't have a lot of time." Red said to Ms. Dein. Even though she was puzzled, Ms. Dein immediately followed and got on the helicopter.
As soon as she sat down and put on her seatbelt, the helicopter immediately took off. She couldn't help but look at Chelsea and worry because she didn't expect her boss to find her unconscious.
After a while, the helicopter landed on the rooftop of the hospital. As they got off, several hospital staff greeted them. They rushed to have Chelsea taken inside.
Red, Ms. Dein, and two of his men were left in the waiting area. Ms. Dein sat in one of the seats there. While Red was still staring at the hallway where the doctors took his wife.
"How many times do I have to repeat that I'm innocent. I don't even know why my sister suddenly disappeared on the island. The men said she left first. If Sofia's men are lying, then go after them. That's their fault. Why are you involving me in this! Why would I want to endanger my sister?! Are you still thinking straight, officer?!" Maxine angrily said to the officer in front of her.
She was here now in the interrogation room. They were being interrogated separately because of the different information they provided at the mansion.
"Ma'am... We won't be able to finish this if you don't admit to what you did. We'll just keep going around in circles. Don't you have any plans to admit it? You're just making things harder for yourself by being stubborn." The police responded angrily.
"What am I supposed to admit to? I'm innocent, officer! Why don't you believe me?! Is this your new policy now?! To arrest innocent people for something they didn't do?!" Maxine shouted loudly.
The police just ran his hand through his hair and let out a sigh before standing up and leaving Maxine alone in the interrogation room.
"Hey! Officer! Hey! Where are you going?! I'm innocent! Why don't you believe me?!" Maxine cried out, sobbing.
…
"Ms. Silvestre, you were the one who said that the yacht you rode on wouldn't leave the island that belongs to your family... How did it happen that Ma'am Chelsea left the island first if the yacht wasn't leaving? " The police asked Sofia seriously, staring into her eyes. This caused fear and anxiety in Sofia. She swallowed her saliva and looked down at the table.
"That's what I don't know. Maybe she talked to the driver of the yacht to take her? I don't know... Why are you asking me about that. I already told you that I'm innocent..." Sofia said this while still not being able to look into the eyes of the officer interrogating her.
"Ma'am... We're asking you to give more information to help in the search for Ma'am Chelsea. If you're really innocent, then wouldn't you be willing to help in the search for someone who's missing from your group? Besides, it's very dangerous for her to be lost on the island because she doesn't have anywhere else to go except for the water. That's why, ma'am... We're asking you, if you did something that you're afraid to say, please tell us." The officer said, frustrated.
"I want to, officer, but that's really all I know. I'm so sorry, but that's all I can help with..." Maxine said, appearing genuinely saddened.
Suddenly, the door to the interrogation room opened, and a police officer entered. "Ma'am Chelsea has been found." He said urgently, so the officer stood up and left the interrogation room. Sofia was left alone, her eyes wide and slowly squeezing her skin due to fear.
