Chapter 18: Help Regina apply the medicine
"You're so cool. Wants me to examine her and prescribe medicine for her but won't let me touch her." Kane entered Darryl's room, his expression unchanged but his voice displeased.
"You're a man."
"And a doctor." Kane shrugged.
This time Darryl didn't say anything, he took a puff of his cigarette, feeling his lungs burn and then exhaled. Kane sat down next to Darryl, however Kane wasn't in the habit of smoking, so he poured himself a glass of red wine from Darryl's liquor cabinet.
"I should have moved in with you guys. That way I wouldn't have to be upset about being woken up at three or four in the morning, driving ten kilometers here just to check on your wife." Kane's voice was clearly reproachful.
"How is she?" Darryl asked.
"She has a fever. I gave her fever-reducing medicine. She sometimes sleeps and talks, still seems very scared. I also prescribed her a topical medication to reduce swelling and pain. Where to apply it, you probably know it yourself, I don't need to teach you, right?"
Kane finished speaking and took a sip of wine, casually observing Darryl's expression. It can be seen that Darryl's mood is not good at all, he mused and appeared quite frustrated, constantly smoking and staring into the unknown space.
"Why do you have to treat her like that? I can clearly see how much you love her." Kane put his wine glass down on the table and asked.
"You're right, it's too easy to tell I like her. But wasn't it you who warned me not to let anyone find out if I didn't want to put her in danger?" Darryl laughed mockingly.
"So you tricked your wife, physically torturing her to make her believe you didn't love her?" Kane widened his eyes in surprise. "That's not what I mean, I just hope you should be vigilant towards your enemies, don't let them harm the one you love. Haven't you experienced the loss of the most important person in your life? Darryl, think carefully. So how to do it right, you are the one who knows best. Don't let yourself regret it."
"It's because I've experienced that feeling of despair that I can't let anyone find out that I love Regina. Even she shouldn't know." Darryl said in a determined voice. Then he put the cigarette out in the ashtray and stood up.
Kane watched Darryl's back as he left the room, then Kane slowly averted his gaze, sighing in frustration. Years ago, Darryl experienced a terrible event, which partly made Darryl the person he is today: bloodthirsty, apathetic and ruthless. Kane was one of the few people who knew the incident well.
Kane is very fond of Darryl and also misses the young man who used to be enthusiastic and brave. If possible, Kane hopes the incident never happened, so Darryl won't change as much.
...
Early in the morning, Regina woke up. Her whole body was sticky from last night's sweat. Remembering what had happened, Regina felt a heavy heart. Regina originally thought that her marriage to Darryl would not be so bad, but perhaps she had hoped that was far away.
Regina was about to get out of bed when she saw Darryl come out of the bathroom carrying a basin of steaming hot water. Regina's whole body stiffened, she turned her head away, not looking at him. Regina was clearly angry inside, so facing Darryl now made her uncomfortable.
The two of them didn't say anything to each other, the atmosphere in the bedroom suddenly became awkward.
Darryl casually sat down next to Regina, flipped the blanket over and stared at her body. Regina panicked and wanted to hold the blanket, but she couldn't keep it up, so she had to bend her legs and cover her full boobs with her hands. She thought Darryl was going to continue to hurt her, because she had heard that men in the morning had a very high sex drive. Unexpectedly, Darryl used a warm towel to wipe her body.
"You had a fever last night, don't take a bath," Darryl explained simply, then carefully wiped Regina's entire body.
"I can medicate myself, I don't mind you." Regina spoke in a sulky voice that she herself did not recognize.
"Sit still." Darryl said coldly, then insisted on applying it to her.
Regina found herself unable to stop Darryl, so she let him do whatever he wanted.
The many bruises and red bumps on Regina's white skin were proof of Darryl's excessive boldness last night. He knew that it was her first time making love, but he did not hesitate to treat her harshly, even disparaging her when saying that she was not a virgin. Actually, Regina didn't really care if she was a virgin or not, but she always hoped that the first time she made love, she could do it with the person she loved. Unfortunately, last night's experience left a very bad obsession in Regina's heart.
After cleaning Regina's body, Darryl applied the swelling-reducing ointment that Kane had prescribed yesterday and applied to Regina's bruises. Regina stared blankly at Darryl, she couldn't believe that the man who was gently applying medicine to her was the man who had rudely pinned her down on the bed yesterday. She even had a silly thought about whether Darryl had multiple personalities.
Suddenly, Darryl opened her thighs, startling her.
"I can do it myself." Regina was embarrassed and held Darryl's hand. Although they had made love, it wasn't natural that Regina felt comfortable when Darryl stared and touched her sensitive spot.
"How do you do it yourself? Get a mirror and touch it yourself?" Darryl suddenly changed her voice and said teasingly.
The truth was that Regina couldn't do it on her own and could only let Darryl help her. Her labia was still red and swollen, Darryl applied the medicine gently and tried not to let himself think of dark thoughts.
It took about fifteen minutes to clean the body and apply the medicine to the swollen areas on Regina's body. It was a short time, but Regina felt as if several hours had passed.
"I'm scheduled to shoot a music commercial today. Can I go?" Regina asked timidly.
She still remembered Darryl saying that if she got hurt, she wouldn't be allowed to leave the house. However, today's schedule was very important for Regina, so she mustered up the courage to ask Darryl.
"Okay."
Darryl agreed so easily that Regina was both surprised and delighted, and finally she was able to smile with relief. Darryl looked at her silently, suddenly realizing that it was quite simple to make Regina happy, she loved to sing, just allowing her to do that Regina would forget all the sad things.
"I'll take you there." Darryl added.
"Eh? No need, my manager will come pick me up." When she heard Darryl say that, Regina who was wearing her clothes suddenly stopped.
"Either I'm taking you, or you're not going anywhere."
Regina pouted. Darryl was much more stubborn and difficult to convince than she was. Although it is not clear why Darryl actively wanted to take her to the set of the commercial, Regina decided not to ask.
