His Married Girlfriend

"Who was Jenna to you?" I ask and they all turn to me with shocked expressions.

It's like they didn't expect me to hear their argument about Jenna. I didn't quite get what they were arguing about. The only line I hear was Shawn's warning to Hailey in which he did mention Jenna.

I was going to forget about it but since Jenna is a hot topic around this town and I am always the center of their attention. I cannot let go easily, especially when some people like Hailey can not stand the sight of me because of Jenna. I want to forget her so bad but they made it impossible for me not to meddle.

I regret not digging deeper a week ago but I do not regret asking who Jenna was to them. I want to know that connection.

"So who's Jenna?" I ask again and waited for anyone's response but by the look on their faces.

They look conflicted. I am about to ask again when Shawn answer "she's my ma- girlfriend."

OMG did I hear him right. I know he was to say another word.

"No, you were about to say something else, not girlfriend," I argue.

"I said" Shawn started but I warn him. "Don't you dare lie Shawn cause I know you were about to say something started with ma?"

Colby looks between the two of us and mutters while his hand runs through his hair, "he said Jenna is his married girlfriend."

Hailey's jaw dropped. Shawn facepalmed himself and I almost burst into laughter. Trying to hold my laughter in I ask "are you saying that he had an affair with a married woman?"

"Something like that" Colby replied.

Switching from a joking manner, I feel anger gliding within me and ready to explode.

"Excuse me. Repeated."

I hate when people cheat on their spouses. Despite their feelings towards other people apart from their spouses, they should never married in the first place. I don't know why people take marriage as a joke but they should know what marriage is before saying the word I do and bringing innocent kids into this world.

I put my hands on my hips and turn to Shawn. "Child, you better change your life now or I'll make it hell for you. How dare you pursue a married woman and wrecked up her family?" I shouted at him in anger.

Colby let out a laugh. Jude surprisingly jumps out from nowhere and kneels on the ground and rolls on the floor laughing. Hailey on the other side turn to the wall and let out a laugh. Shawn glared down at Jude and back to Colby.

"I did not cheat" Shawn gritted his teeth while denying it. Colby makes it worse by repeatedly teasing him "cheater."

Shawn stormed in my direction before he move upstairs to his room. He stopped and look me dead in the eyes. "She was not some married girlfriend. Jenna was my wife" he declared stretching the syllables of the word wife.

When he left up to his room, I and Colby exchanged looks. Jude got up from the ground and walk to go to his room chuckling. "Thank you for the laugh" he winks at me and disappears.

Colby walks to go upstairs but stops and turns his face around to see Hailey. She runs up to him hugging him tightly. She nuzzles his neck and apologizes to him. Colby pick her up and carried her bridal style.

"Goodnight Sr. Claire and thank you," he calls back to me.

"Night," I reply and watch them both as they disappear upstairs to their room. Whatever they are going through I hope they will mend it and stay together.

I walk to the kitchen to drink then I made my way upstairs. I halt in steps before I reach my room. I swirl around making my way to Shawn's room. I shouldn't be doing this. It's against my belief and what I've been taught but something tells me that I need to apologize for accusing him without hearing the truth.

I knock on his door twice nervously and within minutes I hear footsteps then the door opens.

"Hey," I bit my lip while avoiding looking at his forsaken abs.

Oh dear Lord forgive me for drooling. Oh my! I can't even remember the last time I confessed, please God forgive me,' I silently prayed.

He looks at me in surprise. Scratching his hair and ask awkwardly "umm do you need anything?"

Fiddling with my fingers I apologized to him sincerely for what happened earlier. "I didn't know she's your wife and I am sorry."

"She's not" he replied with a heavy sigh. "Oh, and before you kick my balls, my story with Jenna was complicated. So, would you like to come in so that I can explain." he offers.

I stood there speechless. How could he ask me of that? Doesn't he forget that I am a nun and it's bad to be alone in a room with a shirtless guy? This is against any woman's protocol, especially from where I come from and who I am in the eyes of everyone.

On second thought this could be my only opportunity to know what happened. No don't, I try to slap myself for not thinking like that.

Shawn opens the door wider for me to enter. He smiled at me, ensuring me that he won't bite or make any drastic move toward me. I take one step inside his room.

'This is wrong,' I stop myself from taking further steps inside.

"Nope, thank you but maybe tomorrow or some other time," I said with a smile.

I turn around and walk back to my room. I wanted to curse myself for missing the opportunity to finally get the truth out but I know better than anyone else. Walking away is the right thing to do. Yes, it is, or is it not?

When I pass by Colby's room I hear funny voices which I didn't quite get until I hear her scream 'take it, daddy.' I quickly put my hands on my ears and walk away quickly hoping there is holy water in my room to sprinkle in front of Colby's room.
