I rolled my eyes and sighed. She was clearly one of Kole's choices. He always insisted on picking our personal staff, all of whom he would fuck later on of course.

"We will be landing in an hour Sir. Can I get you anything in the meantime?"

"No". My voice fell flat as I turned to stare at the blue sky outside. Hearing her walk away, my mind drifted back to my mate who was probably still asleep.

My heart yearned for her. It had taken everything in me to not mark her last night. Her moans, her heat, and her body were calling to my wolf even if she did not realize it. If we had carried on, I wasn't sure I could have held him back from what he wanted. Fuck! I was getting hard just thinking about it.

It did make me sad, however, seeing her confusion and her resistance to the bond even though she had responded positively. I could only hope that given time she would see that she had nothing to fear. Hopefully the bond would help ease her into these feelings.

What if it doesn't though? She was human after all. Shit! I had no idea how the bond would affect a human.

I groaned thinking what an uphill climb this was turning out to be. I still hadn't worked out how I was going to explain my world to her or how I was going to convince her to leave her life behind and live with me in the pack.

Would my pack accept a human if they realized she was my mate? Would my brothers? There were just too many uncertainties to work through.

I sighed as I felt a headache coming on. Deciding it was better to rest now and think later, I walked to the cabin with the large bed and crashed.

Reaching the packhouse after a five-hour flight and a two-hour car ride, I was exhausted. The feeling of relief that I usually get every time I return home was somewhat dull this time and I knew why. A part of me was still in Manhattan. With my mate.

But nonetheless, it still felt good to be back home. All I wanted to do now, was to hand in the report to the Alphas and get some much-needed rest.

Walking up the stairs to the Alpha's office, I quickly checked my phone, hoping to see a text or a call from Mia. I had left a note with my number on her kitchen counter and since then I haven't stopped using my phone.

Nothing. My heart felt heavy and my wolf whined.

Reaching the office, I gently knocked. When I didn't get a response, I opened one of the doors, only to find it empty. Confused, I walked down the corridor until I came up to the second office. It was empty as well.

Grumbling with impatience, I tried to mind-link but was met with a block. Where the fuck were they?

Hoping to find them at the training center with the warriors, I made my way back down. But as I reached the bottom of the stairs, I spotted one of the staff walking down the hallway towards the kitchens. Sensing me, she immediately looked up and bowed.

"Beta Thomas"

"Marla, do you know where the Alphas are?"

Keeping her head bowed, she responded in a respectful tone.

"They are upstairs in the residential suites Beta"

What the hell were they doing there in the middle of the day?

"Thanks, Marla. You can carry on"

Turning around, I headed back up the stairs to the third floor where the high-ranking members of the pack were housed, namely the Alphas, the Betas, and the Gamma.

Stepping into the hallway I could hear loud moans coming from the door close to the staircase. This had initially been the Gamma's room until he had moved out a long time ago. Now, it seemed to serve only one purpose.

Standing at the open doorway, I spotted a she-wolf on all fours on the massive bed, between Alex and Marcus.
