Flashback

During the coronation, the new king_ Lucan_ goes outside to clear his head. He relishes the serenity of the night and finds peace there, but his peaceful environment is soon distorted by his guard.

"My Lord" Alvaro bows his head in submission. "An intruder was found in the woods. She was dressed like an Alandon and I'm convinced she is here as a spy or something. What must I do to her?"

"A girl, a spy?" He turns to look at Alvaro, marveled and the guard nodded. "I would like to see this girl, who tried to spy on her kingdom," he says to the guard.

"She is currently unconscious. I had her locked up in the palace prison"

"Let's go" Lucan demands and Alvaro leads the way.

A woman as a spy is something scarcely seen in the Kingdom and he was dazed when he was told of one. A woman who has the bellies to intrude on his Kingdom is surely a fearless woman_ he deduces inwardly.

They both reach the prison and the moment he sets his eyes on her, he recognizes her instantly. He does not recognize her only as his childhood friend. The instant connection he feels as he gazes at her, makes him realize she is his mate. He stoops to her level, lifting her head from the ground and settling it on his legs as he stares at her in admiration. She doesn't look different, but one thing that certainly improved is her gleaming beauty. Her blonde hair is much longer, cascading down her shoulder. Her lips are fuller than he remembers and he can't resist the urge to brush his lips against hers

Just by gazing at her, he can feel the heat course through him, making it harder to control himself. He feels the need to mark her there and then as his own because he can't imagine another man having such perfection apart from him.

"Alvaro!" he calls out as anger floods him as a result of how his mate was left in such a condition.

"Sire"

"Did you do this to her?" he barks at Alvaro in anger, referring to the deep injury on her leg.

"No sir. She was caught by a trap"

"For your sake Alvaro" Lucan points at Alvaro. "For your sake, that better be true" he warns with gritted teeth.

After talking to Alvaro, he places his hands underneath her legs, and with little effort, he lifts her off the ground gently. This is no place for the future queen of Santol. He speaks inwardly.

"That's not the point. Get me out of here now " she demands still in a rage.

"I'm sorry, but I can't, dear mate" he speaks calmly and she gasps

Her eyebrow furrows in both confusion and annoyance. What nonsense did he just utter? Her inner wolf asks in fury.

"Don't you dare deceive me? I will cut your throat from where you stand" she warns in anger, but instead of Lucan looking intimidated, he snickers, walking slowly toward her.

Even though she is slightly deterred, she stands her ground, gazing at him fiercely in his eyes. Subsequently, he cups her chin and moves closer to her until there is no space between them. In as much as she wants to scream in his face, telling him to let her be, her lips become too heavy to produce words. Surprisingly she feels trapped staring at his eyes and the look of anger that once clouded her eyes turns into lust. His Oriental scent filled her nose and she can't help but yearn for more of him.

"You don't believe me?" he says in a whisper, caressing her chin, softly with his strong Veiny hands."Don't you feel the tingles when our eyes meet? The connection, the sparkles? The look in your eyes says it all mate. You are mine"

Amaya, at this point, finds it difficult to breathe. She swallows hard, still not able to move or speak. It is almost like he pinned her down with his stares. All she can do is pray that this handsome young man in front of her stops his torture.

Without warning, he heaves her closer to himself, pressing her body against his, and slowly descends to kiss her on the lips because he can't control himself anymore. His wolf cries for her and he isn't sure he can stay another day without marking her as his own.

In a split second, Amaya regains herself from the spell she seemed to be caught in. She pushes him with all her might, ignoring the pain in her legs. The moment his back makes an impact with the wall, she grabs his sword, strapped to his side, and points it at his neck. "I can never be yours" she utters to his face, but her dominance is not for long as Lucan overpowers her, taking the sword away from her, and this time she is the one pinned by her shoulder to the wall.

"Don't you dare talk to me like that" he snaps at her in authority and for the first time in a long time, Amaya feels appalled by a man.

When he realizes she was terrified by his behavior, he lets her go.

The outcome of the situation makes Amaya fight the urge to cry. How can she be mated to the son of the man she hates so much? She is also disgusted with herself because her body keeps reacting to everything he did to her. She can't loath him, neither can she feel repulsed by him because he is her mate and there was nothing that can change that. Each time she looks at him, her inner will for revenge screams no, but her body and mind scream yes to him. Even her inner wolf is helpless to his touch.

"I will not be your mate" she mutters under her breath. "I can never be your mate" this time her voice gains momentum. "I'm leaving"

"You can't leave" he speaks coldly.

"You can't stop me"

"Your leg is bad. I can't let you leave with that injury" he speaks, but that seems to stir up anger in her.

"You don't care about my leg, you just want to keep me here for your selfish interest" she yells at him.

"Fine" he admits. "But don't act like you don't want it too. Deep down you want to stay here with your mate, but your stubbornness is what prevents you from admitting it"

"So what? You keep me here and make me your queen. Have me have your babies and that's it?"

"Do you know how many ladies would jump on that offer?"

"Well not me" a grimace of irritation emerges on her face. "Your father was an evil man and I will not get married to his son" she shoots at him in disgust.

"What would you rather do," he asks, already interested in the not-so-thrilling conversation.

"I have all the right to seat on that throne" she speaks with determination, but that only makes Lucan erupts into laughter.

"A woman on the throne? That's an insult" he says to her when his fake laughter died down. "Look your injury is bleeding. Being distressed isn't going to be good for your health" he addresses the injury on her leg that is already leaking into the bandage.

"I'm fine" she folds her hands in stubbornness.

"I'll have the maids check it for you" he states, totally ignoring her claim of being alright. "Now listen, you will stay here to heal and when you are done healing you are free to go" he pauses and takes a deep breath. He doesn't want to let her go, but he can't keep her against her will. Slowly he walks towards her again and tucks her hair behind her ears to reveal her pretty oval face. "But I don't think you would want to go after that," he says with so much assurance in his voice.
