Chapter 21
"Did you just slap my brother?" Lanre's voice came out lower than he expected. He was shocked when he saw Sewa slap his brother and he wondered what happened.
Sewa placed her palm on her forehead trying to calm her raging heart. Here it is, the day we finally call it quits, she said within herself.
She believed Tunji would expose her and Lanre would break up with her. The truth was finally out and there was no way out of it.
Just as she was about to expose everything all by herself, Tunji's voice clashed with hers, "Yes I slapped him," Sewa said.
"It was by mistake!" Tunji said the same time with Sewa leaving Lanre confused.
"What do you mean?" Lanre asked, he wondered what happened between them but he was sure Sewa slapped Tunji hard.
"It wasn't by mistake, I slapped him," Sewa said firmly. Tunji was surprised, he never expected Sewa to admit it so quickly knowing he could easily expose her.
Then again, she didn't love his brother, therefore she wouldn't mind the truth being exposed. "The truth is..." Tunji cuts Sewa off. There was no way she'd get to reveal the truth only he had the right to reveal.
"She slapped me because I insulted you," Tunji said.
Lanre found the words Tunji said to be unbelievable after all Sewa didn't raise her hands to hit anyone so quickly. He wondered what went down and he knew something wasn't right.
Sewa noticed Tunji trying to cover up the case, so she decided to let go, walking out of the premises of both brothers. She walked back to her room, getting her stuff so that she could leave.
She felt disgusted by the touch of Tunji and she wished she had slapped him again. Tears rolled down her cheek and she remembered all that Tunji said to her and how he also planned on sleeping with her too.
She felt disrespected and there was no way she'd stay in this house for another second and not actually stab Tunji to death. Lanre opened the door to Sewa room, he saw her packing her clothes into her box.
He knew something was wrong and he believed Tunji had done or said something to Sewa. "Sewa,!Sewa!" He called her name, holding unto her from walking around.
"Let me go," she pulled herself from his grip. Lanre saw the tears in her eyes and he felt pained. "What did Tunji do to you?" He asked her.
Sewa said nothing as she constantly walked out on him. "Sewa, tell me what happened, did he touch you?" He asked her, his voice laced with concern and worry.
Sewa stood still when she heard his last statement. "He did, didn't he?" Lanre asked, trying to confirm if it was true.
Lanre knew of Tunji's perverted side, something he disliked about his brother but the thought of his brother touching his woman riled him up. He was disappointed because his brother had no shame and had shown interest in his woman.
He clenched and unclenched his fist, he was seriously going to fight his brother this time around. How dare you Tunji?! He said within himself.
Sewa sat down on the bed, whenever she thought of the words Tunji said to her, she felt the highest level of disrespect, something she had never gotten in her life before.
His touch reminded her of her uncle Damola. She remembered what he said to her the time she had met him at the hotel and how he disrespected her.
What happened to her in the past suddenly started to resurface in her memory and she wept the more. Lanre squats down to wipe the tears in her eyes. He was in pain seeing her in pain and he could understand the level of disrespect she got.
"I'm so sorry Sewa, I'm so sorry," he whispered.
"It's..it's fine. That's life, isn't it?" She said. She said those words out of guilt, not because she knew she was right but because she knew she deserved the disrespect she got from Tunji.
She was a prostitute and she once carried the title proudly without shame. Prostitutes deserve no respect after all, they were open for business as long as money was involved.
If Tunji didn't know she was a prostitute, he wouldn't have asked her for a minute but still, she felt more disrespected because he tried sleeping with her in his own brother's house. She wiped the lone tears that rolled down her cheek with her palm and sniffled a little.
"I want to go back to port harcourt," Sewa said.
"What? So quick? Why? I thought we were going to attend my friend's birthday party this weekend," he asked her.
"It's..." Lanre cuts her off. "It's fine," he said. He got off his feet and made his way to find Tunji. As soon as he met Tunji, he took him off guard as he punched him hard.
"What is?..." Because Tunji could complete his statement, Lanre punched him again and again.
"Foolish older brother, so this is how you would have raped my wife if i wasn't at home right!" Lanre shouted, punching Tunji who kept defending himself.
"What are you saying?" Tunji asked him struggling to push Lanre off him.
"I am ashamed to have a brother like you, you just lost all the respect I have for you in this life!" Lanre spat out. He tried hitting Tunji once again but was held from doing that as Tunji pushed him off.
"Look at you! What do you think you are doing, fighting me for a prostitute!" Tunji shouted. The knots in Lanre's stomach tightened, he got furious when he heard Tunji call Sewa. A prostitute.
"Shut up, useless man! How dare you call her a prostitute!" Lanre shouted. "Are you mad?" Lanre asked, raising his voice in a harsh manner.
Lanre felt Tunji knew nothing about Sewa and calling her a prostitute was a big disrespect to Sewa and also him who was her boyfriend.
"I am not mad because I am stating fact and the fact is, she is a prostitute! Top class runs babe in port harcourt!" Tunji shouted on top of his voice.
