CHAPTER 12
Damien's POV
When I see someone inside relaxing on the chair across from my desk, I fling open the office door in a fit of rage.
I walk in without saying anything. I can immediately tell that it is Gabriel as I lock the door behind me.
How in the world did you enter here? As I make my way to my chair, I snarl at him.
He laughs gently before bending down and putting down the phone he was holding. "You weren't returning calls," she said.
Today, I truly don't want anybody else to annoy me. Anna was the first, followed by Juliet and Lisa, and now Gabriel.
Given that he humiliated me in front of that girl, how am I supposed to answer his call? He didn't defend me, but he laughed at the same time as his wife, making me feel foolish.
Gabriel is such a baby!
How did you enter this building, I asked. I nag him once more while gazing icily at him.
He sags back and says, "Well, Anna let me in." His grin is gone.
He is aware of my ire against him. He has come for this reason. When he began phoning incessantly last night, I resisted answering. Even listening to what he had to say was not something I was interested in.
In me, something clicks. Did Gabriel just speak to Anna, my new secretary?
I want to know how he learned about Anna so fast, despite the fact that I really don't want to talk to him.
You know Anna, right?
He furrows his brow in disbelief. You are unaware of her?
I glare at him and choose to ignore him rather than respond. Even though I know I can't work with Gabriel here, I pick up my laptop and open it. He doesn't need to be here, and I still hate him for what he did to me at the club, so I just want him to know that.
I detest his frivolity. It really annoys me.
He says dryly, "Don't tell me you don't know Anna." I keep ignoring him. "How did she then become your assistant?"
Why did Anna allow him in without asking my permission in the first place? Is she a whore of his?
She informed me that you dismissed your previous assistant.
The question "Why are you here, Gabriel?" I become angry and snap at him.
He sags, his face. I come to express my regret for what I did back there in the club, so. I apologize if I offended you.
I again stop him, "But you did." Is that all, then?
His look showed that he was laughing. "Am I pardoned?"
"No, leave now!"
"What?" While sitting erect, he laughs. Gabriel never takes any of my instructions seriously, which baffles me since I was telling him what I meant at the time. I want him to go. I must go to work. "I came here to bring you a present. to atone for what took place at the club.
I grumble again, dropping my head and looking absentmindedly through a file on my laptop, "I am not interested in whatever gift you brought, so leave."
Come on, you'll enjoy this person.
Until I accept the ridiculous present he bought for me or until I tell him he is forgiven, Gabriel won't go. I simply wish he hadn't shown up at the office.
I sigh in irritation and look up. "What's that? I still have a little elevated voice, saying, "I need to go back to work.
He grinned widely and said, "I brought a new girl for you." She is the kind of girl you will adore, and she is waiting below.
I chuckle at his absurdity. He didn't offer to assist when I offered him the opportunity. I leaned heavily on his assistance to find a female, but he abused it, and now that I have found someone, he is here to introduce me to what he claims to be my sort of woman.
What are your opinions about the kind of women I like? I demand while wearing a stern expression.
Does he even understand the kinds of females I prefer? He wouldn't present that shameless chick to me if he did.
"I do, of course. someone similar to Helena. Reserved. Quiet. In fact, she attends church," he says, laughing like he did at the club.
I am remaining silent. Just keep an eye on him and patiently waiting for him to calm down before approaching him.
I sometimes ponder how Gabriel manages to flourish in his telecom business. I also wonder how his wife handles him, but I knew they get along after seeing the drama at the club.
I've only met her twice—once when he briefly introduced her to me and once on the day of their wedding, which I attended for an hour before departing for Boston the same day for a business meeting. They just got married six months ago.
He seems shocked to see me with a straight face since he is sober.
I get up from the seat and go toward the entrance. I won't only cease returning your calls when you next visit me during business hours; I'll also break off contact with you.
He frowns slightly and acknowledges that I am being quite serious when I threaten. He gets up from the desk and grabs his phone.
He turns around and looks intently in my direction while clearing his throat. I'm sorry, but how is the girl doing? I brought her here because I felt it was necessary.
Please go since I don't need a female any longer. I interrupted him abruptly because I wanted him to go.
He begins to say, "You don't need it," but stops as I give him a critical look. He advances toward me.
Are you still upset with me? With a little grin on his face, he asks me. a grin of the kind that might quickly win my forgiveness. The only person who can hurt me is him, and I will forget about it in a matter of minutes.
He is a bad boy who makes nice friends. We have gone a long way together, and just to make sure he does what I want, I have threatened to terminate all relations with him several times.
He is the only buddy I have, and he is the only one who really comprehends me. superior to my parents. Sometimes I simply can't help but yell at him because he is so aggravating.
I firmly say, "Nope," without showing any emotion.
"Have you already found someone?" He asks, a look of curiosity on his face.
I push him out the door and lay a cool palm on his back before responding to him. "Yes, Lisa and I are getting married."
"Lisa?" His shocked eyes enlarge. Your previous assistant? I believed you let her go.
I tell him, pushing him farther from the door, "Yes, Lisa, the girl I got and the girl I'm getting married to in two weeks is my former Assistant."
I slam the door in his face without waiting for him to respond again.
