CHAPTER 64
Damien's POV
The ideal answer is this. not the stupid plan to confront Juliet about the newspaper headlines when you meet up with her.
That has no effect. The act has been completed, and there is no turning back now. I declined last week's invitation to the company dinner party since Lisa would be leaving for Verona two days later, but now there is no turning back.
Just to disprove the myth that we're engaged contractually, I need to show up there.
Lisa agrees with the concept but initially wanted to face Juliet. After some back and forth, she decided not to attend.
That will simply create a commotion. She has accomplished enough.
I won't let it upset me, even if it could truly undermine the concept of getting divorced after a year. I don't let people's unsavory rumors about me to affect me, and I don't see any reason why I should start doing so now.
We're officially splitting up after a year together. I don't care whether they link it to the information Juliet knowingly provided to the media. How did she manage to do that?
I'm just concerned right now with how to make sure we disprove the rumor and seem authentic during the dinner gathering.
Lisa is dressed elegantly in a long, sleeveless bodycon dress with an off-shoulder top, while I am wearing a custom-tailored two-piece suit and black, high-end leather oxford shoes.
It is likewise black, and she has her hair pulled back in a low ponytail while sporting silver earrings and a necklace.
We go farther into the busy hall, our arms linked, surrounded by various businessmen and ladies from all over the globe.
Although I can sense Lisa's anxiety, I don't reassure her that the day will be successful. She has to grow accustomed to controlling her anxiety so that she can finish the day's tasks with each outing.
We enter till a recognizable face stops us.
He introduces himself as "Damien" in a low voice, but I don't know who he is. I first didn't want to come because of this. Since there would be a large number of attendees today, I made an effort to keep my distance from distant acquaintances and ex-colleagues in business. Now that we are here, it is impossible to prevent some of the billionaire's club guys showing up.
I had to break off my handshake with Lisa as he pulls me into a close embrace. My nostrils are assaulted by his scent, and I almost instantly recognize him.
"Sebastian?" I dial his number more as a query to confirm that he is the right one.
One of the millionaire club members, Sebastian, departed before I did. It's been a while, so I suppose that's why I didn't immediately identify him.
I am reminded of who he is by the fragrance. The exact scent Helena wished for me to use each and every time I want to go out. Sebastian informed me he wears the same fragrance after smelling it on me.
"Yes, pal. How are you doing? As he pulls away from the embrace, he asks. Before I can respond, he turns to look at Lisa, who isn't standing uncomfortably as I had anticipated.
He starts grinning more broadly.
Lisa is observing the two of us as we embrace from a distance while wearing a stunning grin on her face.
The question, "Your wife?" He insists, and I just nod. He hugs her and gives her two cheek kisses.
I squint my eyes.
Is this required? A hug ought to be sufficient, right?
The question "How are you doing, Lisa?" My eyes enlarge as he asks a question. How was her name known to him? Lisa, did you tell him?
He once again confronts me directly before I have time to consider it further. "I had no idea you would show up. I'm so glad you're here.
Yes, I'm glad to see you as well.
He grins broadly and says, "It's been so long since we last saw each other," as he looks at my face.
I sigh carelessly.
Is she the person with whom someone said you had a contractual relationship? When he asks, my grin starts to go.
Even before we ran into him, he was already aware of Lisa. I suppose that's how he learned her name.
When he isn't even a resident of New York City, how in the world did he know? He must have flown here just to attend this business dinner from wherever he is hiding.
Even though it's a business dinner, I get the impression that it's more of a ruse to get the businesspeople they want to work with to agree to their idea. I am one of the businesspeople who has attracted attention in the car sector, but at this time, I am not interested in forming a partnership.
The question is, "What do you think?" I pretend to chuckle while I consider how to convince him that the tale is untrue.
When he embraced me, Lisa and I parted ways, and if I suddenly take her hands, it will seem too real to be true. We'll seem to be putting on a show.
My thoughts are interrupted by her voice, "Baby, I have to go to the bathroom," and Sebastian turns to look at her.
I turn to Lisa and thank her for the interruption. "Love, I'll be waiting for you here."
Something flashes over my recollection as she leans in and kisses my lips.
the embrace.
Will you be able to locate the bathroom? I don't have much time to reflect on this quick kiss on the lips or the identical one that took about two minutes the previous day because of Sabastian's worried tone.
This kiss was unique. It was ferocious. Nobody was present.
This is a fast one. where everyone can see you.
But amazingly, despite the fact that it is artificial, I could feel the electricity surge down my spine at that small tenderness.
Lisa nods before leaving.
Sabastian remarks, "She is lovely," and I am aware that I am watching her go. In addition to being stunning, she exudes elegance and eroticism in that outfit.
"Wow!" I try to hide my annoyance at his remarks as I jerk my head in his direction. "You made a wise decision."
I grit my teeth and say, "Yes, thank you," praying he would just go away. Initially, I was pleased to see him, but now that he is making advances toward my wife, I want him to go.
Sebastian flirts a lot. He is not married yet because of this. He was on the verge of being married to an Indian lady whose father belonged to our millionaire club, but his flirty behavior with other ladies destroyed things.
He was discovered to be having an extramarital affair as well. Additionally, he was seen making out with the girl's step-sister.
The child lived her whole life in India but had an American father and an Indian mother. That year, she took a flight to America to meet her father's new family.
Sebastian charmed her with his charming smile. The naïve girl persisted despite her father's opposition, and Sebastian eventually cheated. This is the reason he departed New York.
That would never be permitted between him and Lisa in my opinion.
There are certain guys Lisa can never be with, and there are some men I would never want her to date. Sebastian is at the top of the list, followed by Alejandro.
His expression darkens, "I heard about Helena's death, I'm really sorry about that," and I nod in agreement.
He enjoys Helena. Helena was never out with me to the club members' party, which is amusing since if I didn't trust her, I would have accused her of having an affair with him.
He adds, "May her sweet soul find peace." "Amen."
I add my "Amen" and hope the conversation will soon alter.
He sighs, and the grin returns to his face as if he had heard what I was thinking. "Where did you find such a beautiful bride?" Lisa looks wonderful.
I can only grin.
The last person I would tell about my marriage to my assistant is Sebastian.
"Are the rumors accurate?
"Of course not," I reply, frowning heavily. "How can you think such nonsense?"
"I had the same idea. She seemed to be quite attractive on the newspaper, but after closer inspection, I think she is really twice as lovely. How is it possible for you to be engaged to such a gorgeous, seductive woman?
That's it. This chat is over, thank you. He complements her more and more, which irritates me.
He has improved his comments to be seductive and is no longer just using plain terms like pretty.
Why the heck is it even there?
I quickly respond, "I should go now, Sebastian," to her. I ought to go find my wife. She may not be able to find her way.
"Oh!" He only mutters and nods his head in agreement. He raises a finger before I can move away from him. "If it turns out that you really do have a contract with her, then signifies that your connection with her is just temporary. Please tell me right away so I may propose to her.
Saying "Shut up!" I let out a loud roar before moving away from him.
In addition to telling me that this story will become true after we separate, he also mentions getting married to her when I am done with her.
I leave him there and start to walk in a long stride towards the direction Isabella went to find the bathroom.
I snarl again inside as I consider what Sebastian just said about being married to Lisa after we are split up. Why the heck not!
