CHAPTER 67
Lisa's POV
I put on a branded bodycon dress before being picked up by Alejandro's chauffeur, and as we drove to the villa, my heart was racing wildly with excitement.
Alejandro said we couldn't go to the villa yesterday. He merely took me on a sightseeing tour of the neighborhood, but I saw a lot in only one day. But it wasn't sufficient.
I've been up since the crack of dawn, getting ready for the tour. Alejandro urged me to return to my hotel yesterday since he suggested it would be preferable to visit the property in the morning or late afternoon.
After a short drive, we arrive at our destination, and the driver opens the vehicle door for me. Alejandro suddenly materializes out of thin air with a huge smile on his face, and I leap to the ground, wondering where he is.
I gave him a hug while ignoring the way he called me "Il Mio Amore" as he extended his arm.
I should have rolled my eyes at him instead as I pulled away from the embrace.
He snatches my hand before I can respond. Come see Romeo and Juliet, I say.
My enthusiasm returns, and I almost squeal with delight. When I see a sizable throng in front of us, I am going to ask him how far we would need to travel. I don't need a fortune teller to tell me where we are since it seems more like a corridor heading somewhere.
The Juliet Wall may have given Alex's plan to surprise me away. I've only ever seen the Wall in photographs, so seeing it in person makes my jaw drop in amazement.
As he pulls me farther inside, Alejandro says, "Verona is the fourth most visited city in Italy." His Italian accent is thicker than ever.
I look around in complete awe as we pass the wall that is surrounded by a throng of people.
Shakespeare claimed that Romeo and Juliet were located in Verona, despite the fact that he had never been to the city. As we enter, he continues.
His further play. He speaks slowly before pausing suddenly and seems to be very contemplative.
He must be making an effort to recall Shakespeare's previous works. The two guys from Verona, right?
"Beautiful!" He waves his hand at me and says, "Thanks," which makes me grin.
He continues once more. Because of its urban design and architecture, the city was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in November 2000.
As soon as we enter the courtyard, we see a statue of a woman who we assume to be Juliet. Alejandro is still babbling on as I gasp, and he has no idea that I have entered a whole new universe.
As I see the statue and the crowd of people attempting to touch her, I can feel the tears welling up in my eyes. I turn my head to look towards the balcony.
The Romeo and Juliet novel had a balcony. In front of me is a balcony that is embellished with recently cut flowers. The building structure is quite old, yet it still astounds me how much people would pay for anything, regardless of how old it is.
I was reminded of every event in the Juliet and Romeo novel despite how outdated everything seemed to be.
I am overcome with emotion since I could never have envisaged Verona for myself at this age. I used to believe that it would take me years of diligent work to be able to accumulate money for a trip here, but Damien is the only reason I am here today.
If I had never shown thanks to him before, I can do so now. I appreciate him giving me this chance. for fulfilling my ambitions.
Even if the play was just fiction to me, it seems real to me right now as I stand in the center of the courtyard with a statue of Juliet in front of me, a balcony up a big staircase beside me, and a lot of people coming in and out.
Romeo and Juliet's plot rings authentic, and I really doubt Alejandro's assertion that Shakespeare wasn't there.
How on earth did he make it seem so genuine? He must have come over to hear their tales.
How do I put this?
"Bella?" I'm abruptly roused from my trance by Alejandro's words. "Are you okay?"
I strongly nod in agreement and respond. "Just feeling overwhelmed."
"Oh!" We both stand there admiring the statue while he only whispers and chuckles to himself.
I break the stillness by saying, "This feels real," while gripping my other hands more firmly.
Alejandro corrects, "Legendary", and I understand what he means. He doesn't think that truly took place. The mansion, which was built in the 13th century, is owned by the Capullos. Scholars have suggested that the villa's description matches that of the home that was said to have been Juliet's in the play. He stops and glances at me. They referred to it as Juliet's residence.
There is a growing hush.
"Should we visit the tomb to take a look?" He asks, staring deeply into my eyes.
"The tomb of Juliet?" The scenario is running through my thoughts as I inquire once again to be sure. the play's scenes. I shake my head and wrap my arms around my chest as he nods.
I'm trying to figure out how I can get close to the statue so I can snap a photo of it, but there are so many people there that it's like a swarm of bees that has been let loose.
I say pouting, "I want to touch her." "The tomb can come later"
He quickly chuckles and takes my hand. "Go ahead and touch her now."
We go up to the statue and are then left to figure out how to interact with her. I am able to touch her legs thanks to Alejandro's excellent work of squeezing myself in amid the throng.
My startled ears heard a whisper. "It's said that if you put your mouth to your breast, you'll find love."
I quickly glance behind me and almost miss my position next to the statue. Why does he use the word "love"? I should be thrilled about it, but why would he say that knowing that I am Damien's wife? Does he not think I'm real?
His voice is booming, "Get up there and do it," and I can see that more people are approaching us.
I leap up without thinking and attempt to touch her breast. I had assumed that by touching any part of her body, my belief would become reality, but Alejandro claims otherwise, so I must take him at his word.
His knowledge of everything exceeds mine.
I take a step onto the platform since I can't get to her and it will be simpler for me to suck her breast in my mouth.
I became suddenly aware of what I was doing. Just like everyone else around me, I'm trying to get her breast in my mouth.
Even so, is this hygienic? I resentfully believe that everyone will have saliva on her.
I'll settle with stroking her breast.
I suddenly feel Alejandro pushing up from the earth and recognize it as such. He raises me up onto the pedestal so that I can reach out and touch her breast with my foot.
He yells while keeping his hands on my legs to prevent me from falling off due to the struggles going on all around. Take her breast in your mouth and grab it.
Even though I would want to, it is currently not feasible. He seems to be in a frantic state and has his lips on her breast.
I aim for him, and as he shuts his lips, I quickly grab it before anybody else uses their mouth to attack it.
I yell as a euphoric sense of fulfillment fills me.
The moment I felt my legs touching the ground, Alejandro must have recognized I had succeeded because I immediately embraced him in joy.
The question "You got it?" I nod as I let go of the embrace.
He grabs my hand and says, "Let's go see the tomb and come back for the pictures." As we turn to go, something hard strikes my face, and I find myself sliding to the ground.
Alejandro tightens his hold on my hand to prevent me from falling, and a second-hand takes my other hand to halt me in my tracks midway.
At this point, I am aware that I have run into the person who is holding my hand.
Alejandro's mouth is open and disbelief is visible in his eyes as he pulls me up.
When I attempt to even my breath, they say, "I'm so sorry."
I shake hands and turn to face him. The first thing I notice about him is his blue eyes, which are exactly like Damien's, followed by his bushy brows and the grin he gave me.
I stammer, "I...should be apologizing," while I fiddle with my outfit.
He's still grinning as he closely inspects me. He extends his hand for a handshake after that. "My name is Romeo; what's yours?"
My mouth hangs open, and my eyes enlarge. "Romeo?"
