Twenty seven
Katherine Thrones:
Alexander grinned the moment he agreed to his date, and his happiness made me give a smile of my own. This was my first date, the first time a boy had ever asked me out. Alexander was the first.
My first boyfriend.
My first hug.
And now, My first date.
He was on his way to being my first everything. And honestly, a part of me wouldn’t mind that. But the rational part of me reminded me that this was just a plan and I shouldn’t get too carried away with Alexander, or else I’d loose focus on the plan and loose focus on my studies.
“Sweet. I’m so excited about this, Katherine. Thank you.” He said to me and I reveled in his choice of words, he was always sweet to me, apologizing when he was wrong and even when he was not completely wrong, and saying thank you for everything. I think I would enjoy this.
And then he took me unawares yet again and did the unexpected, he took my hand into his again and placed a peck on the back of my hand. A simple peck you may say, but that simple peck sent a rejuvenating streak down my spine. And that’s a bit sad for me to say I was nearly turned on by a singular peck, but I think it’s validated that what gave the peck was Alexander’s dreamy lips.
The blush wiped away from my face at the realization, “Alexander! I said no kisses and no pecks.” I scolded, retracting my hand away from his quickly.
He smirked, “Sometimes, rules have to be broken, Katherine.” He said to me and I felt it register in my brain, I had a feeling I would be needing to remind myself of this quote from Alexander Walters later. So I let his misbehavior slack, just this once.
He rose up, standing erect. “So when would you be ready?” He questioned and I thought about it.
Today was completely written out, I had to finish studying Chemistry now and would be starting next with my Biology textbooks by seven pm. And tomorrow too is filled with studying, most likely this whole week because we have a test coming up. So it would be the weekend.
“Maybe the weekend?”
He frowned, “Well, I was thinking seven.”
My brows raised, “Seven? Today?” I questioned.
He nodded, “Yeah, today. I won’t be free during the weekend, I have a big game coming up. And I have practice all through this week, I’m only free this evening.” Alexander replied. “So, I was hoping today.”
I sighed, now being placed in a typical teenage–dilemma my mother had spent all her parenting years training me to avoid; to study or to go out with a boy?
Well, since he won’t be free all week and during the weekend, meaning I’d see less of him. So I can use the rest of the week to read up and study, then risk it all and go out with him today. That’s a fair gamble, right? Very fair if you’d ask me.
“I guess seven is okay for me,” I replied, hoping I won’t regret it later.
“Great! So, I’ll be here to pick you up by seven pm. I need to leave now so I can put everything in place.” He said to me with excitement so pure and candid, I found myself smiling.
“Sure. I’ll be ready by seven.”
He smiled, “Thank you so much Katherine for cheering me up, you’re an Angel.” He said to me and there it was, the bashful flushing of the cheeks. I needed to work on my ever too frequent blushing, it’s kind of embarrassing. But I don’t think anyone can help it, not blushing at the words Alexander says.
“You’re welcome, Alex.”
“Well, see you later Katherine.” He said and with that, he turned to leave. I heard the door shut behind him a few moments later which meant I was now alone and had the liberty to squeal and scream in happiness. I was finally going on my first date, with the dreamy and hot Alexander Walters.

Okay, when I was agreeing to a date with Alex, I think I forgot one tiny little detail. What the hell was I going to wear? I had literally no clothes befitting a date. All I had were jeans and T–shirts which seemed twice my size. Alexander was talking about going all out with the date, meaning he wanted to take me somewhere fancy I presume he had the money and resources for that so I won’t be surprised. But that means I had to wear something classy and dare I say it, sexy.
I had nothing sexy and I wasn’t even sure if I could be called sexy.
Luckily, I had a best friend with so much experience in that field and the moment I placed a call across to Katie, she was at my apartment with her classiest and sexiest clothes so I could choose one to wear. We were about the same build and same height, so what she had would fit me. But I couldn’t choose from any of the things she had brought in they weren’t… very my style.
“What about this one?” Katie showed me a blue satin dress, which I was very sure was the length of a T–shirt.
“Too short.” She tossed the dress aside.
“This?” It was a black dress this time, a silk one that was sure to stick to my body and had bra–straps for hands and show a lot of cleavages.
“Too revealing.” She sighed, tossing the dress aside.
“How about this?” A red velvet down, even worse than the previous two; it was a tube dress, meaning no sleeves or straps and it looked so fitted, I was sure it would push up my boobs and have them on a nearly dull display.
“Too tight.” She rolled her eyes, tossing the dress aside.
“Please tell me you like this one?” Another blue dress, a glittery one. It had a sweetheart V–neckline that went down to under my boobs and was backless. How do they even make impossible dresses like this?
“No, Katie. I don’t. What the hell?” She frustratedly groaned and fell into the bed.
“Come on Katherine, it’s past six pm and your date would be here any minute from now and you haven’t even chosen your dress yet, not to talk of the shoes you will be wearing and putting on makeup,” Katie stated.
“I never said anything about wanting to put on makeup.” I pointed out.
“Fine then, what about your dress? Don’t you want to put a dress on?”
“Katie, these dresses make me look like a hooker!” I stated matter–of–factly.
“But that’s the point! You’re going out with the hottest guy at school so you need to be sexy and not your usual boring self Katherine, no offense.” Katie retorted.
“No offense taken.”
“Great, now take one of these dresses and put them on. Trust me when I say Alexander won’t be able to take his eyes off you in any of these dresses.”
“Katie…” I drawled her name and she groaned frustratedly again, knowing I was going to refuse it. “Wearing any of these makes it seem like I’m heading to the club. Don’t you have anything more, you know? My style.”
She sat up on the bed, “I have one more dress, and you better like it because I’m not driving all the way back home to get any more.”
“Alright, let me see.” She shows me a red dress. It was short, but not too short. It stopped a few inches before my knees. It was revealing but not too revealing, it had a strap for sleeves, but I guess I can work with that because it’s a thick one, the back had a criss–cross strap design at the back, and there was going to be cleavage bearing but very, very minute. I think I can work with it, even though it’s a far stretch from what I usually wear.
“I think I can wear this,” I said and Katie breathed a huge sigh of relief.
“Hallelujah! And thank the heavens! Finally.” She sprang up from the bed with the dress in her hands.
“Well, let’s put you into the dress then. I hope you’ve shaved your legs, sweetie.” Katie said and before I could even reply, my phone began to ring.
“Oh? Is he here already. Poor boy can’t wait any longer, he’s addicted.” Katie said with a teasing smirk and she handed me the dress.
I rolled my eyes, “What makes you think it’s him? It could be any other of my friends.” I say to Katie and she scoffed.
“We both know you don’t have any other friends Katherine, no offense,” Katie stated candidly and I chuckled, grabbing my phone.
“None taken,” I answered the phone and placed it against my ears while I examined the red dress further. I was a bit confused though, it was from an unknown caller.
“Hello? Who’s this?”
“This is Nurse Patel from Riverside Hospital. Is this Katie?” She questioned, and my curiosity thickness. From a hospital? What’s happening? Then realization dawned on me that it was Katie's phone I had answered, not mine. I tried giving her the phone but she told me go just answer it.
“Yes, I’m the one. Please, what’s happening?” I answered, trying my best to stay calm and not alert Katie
“Your mother has been involved in an accident.”
“WHAT?”
