Chapter 17
Jason's ( P. O. V. )
Four hours later
We already landed in New York and right now Ben, Leo and I are in the car on our way to Pennsylvania hotel in Manhattan.
"So, are we gonna just go there and ask the owner of the hotel to sell it to us?" Ben asked.
"No, we don't have too, my dad already told him I'm on my way to inspect the place and after all my inspections, I'll make a decision." I replied, in my serious tone.
"Okay." Ben simply replies.
30 minutes later
We finally reached Pennsylvania hotel, it's beautiful, I hope the inside is as beautiful as the outside.

"Wow, it looks amazing." Ben commented.
We stepped out of the car and walked inside the hotel, immediately my coat was striped of me.
"Thanks." I smiled, at the man that took off my coat.
"You welcome Mr Mendez." he responded with his head bowed.
Wow.. such respect.
I think I'm gonna like this place.
I walked over to the receptionists desk.
"Hey beautiful." I remarked, winking at the pretty receptionist and she blushed.
"Hello Mr Mendez, you don't need to pay at all, here's your key." she informed, smiling and handing me a key card.
"Okay thank you beautiful, so where will I be staying." I asked.
"In the presidential suite." she answered.
"Oh Wow, fancy, okay." I beamed.
"Mr Mendez, the presidential suite is on the 20th floor, room number 2004." she disclosed.
"Okay, thank you." I replied, Ben, Leo and I went straight to the elevator. I pressed the button and waited.
"Wow, Jason this place is awesome, it'll be great if you were to buy this hotel, it'll be great for business." Ben muttered, glancing around the place.
"Yeah, I agree." I responded, the elevator doors opened, we entered and my eyes landed on a little girl. Well she's quite tall, so I wouldn't say she's little, she's fiddling with her fingers
"Hey little princess." I greeted her, she immediately looked up at me.
Wow... She looks a lot like Maria, except for her beautiful blue eyes.
She stared at me for a while, even her gaze is like Maria's.

"Jason, I think she's alone." Ben pointed out and I nodded.
"What's wrong princess, why are you here all alone?" I asked tenderly, I've always wanted to have a daughter, to spoil her and love her.
"Hello." she answered, in a sweet voice.
I stood next to her and I felt the elevator move. I think Ben pressed the button.
"Princess, are you okay, why are you here all alone?" I asked again.
"No, I'm not alone, my Mom works here, I'm going to see her." she answered.
"Oh...okay, where is your Mom now, do you know?" I questioned.
"Uh, I think the 1st floor, I'm gonna check, don't worry about me Sir I'm a big girl." she stated confidently and I smiled.
She's so pretty and cute.
"Do you know that you so cute?" I pointed out, she smiled showing her pretty dimples.
"Thank you." she replied smiling, Leo stepped next to the little girl.
"I think he likes you princess." I commented, she smiled.
"What's his name?" she asked kneeling down next to him.
"Leo." I answered.
"Why the name Leo?" she asked looking at me with those beautiful blue eyes of hers. her blue eyes are so beautiful.
"Because he was born on the 10 of August." I admitted.
"Oh, the Zodiac sign, thing." she stated.
"How do you know about that, how old are you even, little Missy?" I inquired.
"By the way Mister my name is Isabella and I'm 6 years old, I'm not a little girl." she contradicted, her hand on her hips and I smiled.
"Oh, Isabella, what a beautiful name." I remarked caressing her cheek and she smiled.
"Thank you, Leo and I have a very special bond, even though we just met." she stated, rubbing Leo's head.
"How so?" I asked.
"He and I are both born on the 10th, but I'm born on the 10th of November. I'm a Scorpio, we have a special bond, am I right Leo?"Β she remarked, looking at Leo, Leo blinked at her and she smiled.
"Oh Wow, you and I also have a special bond." I smiled.
"Oh, are you jealous that your dog and I have a special bond, you don't need to feel left out, even though we just met, I actually feel really close to you, I don't know why." she admitted, smiling.
"So do I, I feel the exact same way, but I meant that we have a special bond because I'm also a Scorpio." I beamed.
"Oh, really, sir is he telling the truth?" she asked looking at Ben.
"Yes he is, his born on the 24 of October." Ben pointed out.
"Wow, you a Scorpio too, see, now I know why I felt so close to you." she admited.
We talked for a while and Ben also joined in our conversation, she told me her favourite colour, which is Red, but her she likes Pink too, she likes both of the colours, we continued talking until the elevator stop moving and the lights immediately went off.
"Why is it so dark in here, what happened, I'm scared of the dark?" Isabella stated.
"Ben, please call Jonathan and tell him that we're stuck in the elevator." I instructed Ben.
"Okay." he replied.
His so chilled about this whole situation...
I took my phone out of my pocket and I tapped the torch app, I pointed the light at where Isabella stood, she is hugging Leo tightly, her eyes closed. She looks so scared I don't know why but I feel like I have to protect her.
"Princess don't be afraid take my hand, don't worry I'm here, I'll always protect you." I promised.
She opened her eyes and looked up at me, I heard Ben talking on the phone, she took my hand and I carried her, she laid her head on my neck.
"I'm afraid of the dark." she divulged, just like before she remains me of Maria, just like Maria was always afraid of the dark.
"Don't worry princess, I'm here, I promise you that the lights will be on very soon." I exclaimed tenderly.
"Is the elevator working?" she asked.
"No princess, but don't worry everything is gonna be fine, okay, you just close your eyes and pretend like you in a wonderful garden, where there's beautiful flowers." I suggested.
"And my mommy is there with me." she added.
"Yes and you there playing, running around the garden having the time of your life, just think about that princess." I responded.
She nodded and closed her eyes, I looked down at Leo and his eyes were closed too, I taught him the same technique.
I turned look at Ben.
"What did he say?" I asked, hoping that Jonathan would get us out of here.
"He said his working on it and he apologizes." Ben stated.
I simply nodded.
After half an hour, the lights came back on, I realised that Isabella was asleep when she didn't move when I tried to wake her up.
The elevator door opened and Jonathan stood in front of it.
"I'm so sorry Mr Mendez, I didn't know that the elevator was faulty, I sincerely apologize." Jonathan pleaded.
"We'll talk about this later, just take this little girl to her mom, her name is Isabella." I ordered, walking out of the elevator and handing Isabella to Jonathan.
He nodded, Ben, Leo and I went to my presidential suite. I opened the door and entered the suite, it looked really elegant and beautiful and I sat on the couch.
"Dude, this place is quite nice." Ben remarked, looking around the place and I nodded.
"I agree." I simply replied.
"Jason I've never seen you that fascinated with a little girl before." Ben hastened sitting on the couch next to me.
"Ben it's just that Isabella is so different from any other child I met, she's unique." I stated.
"Just like Maria." Ben blurted.
"Yeah, just like her, they have so much similarities, I feel so connected to her, I feel a connection that I only felt with Maria, it's just so hard to explain it in words." I heaved.
"Jason I think you need some sleep, I just think you need to rest so that you'll feel better tomorrow, because right now you just acting sicko." Ben commented.
"Ben what the heck, I'm not acting sicko." I groaned.
"I get that you miss Maria to bits, but you just met this little girl and now you saying that you feel a connection between you two and that she remains you of Maria. I get it she really does resemble Maria a little but please don't get sicko with me and say she's Maria's daughter or something." Ben mumbled, looking at me like I'm a mental asylum patient.
"Ben I didn't say that Isabella was Maria's daughter, I don't think Maria would have a child and not tell me, all I'm saying is I feel a great connection between Isabella and I. I really don't know why I feel this way." I replied.
"Okay, let's drop the topic." Ben piped.
"I have to go see Jonathan to sign the formal papers of the hotel, you coming with me right." I questioned, standing up from the couch.
"Of course I'm coming with you I'm your lawyer aren't I." Ben answered, standing up from the couch as well.
"Leo, stay here we'll be right back, okay." I commanded, he just blinked at me and I smiled. We walked out of my suite and took the elevator to the 10th floor to Jonathan's office.
We reached Jonathan's office and I knocked on the door.
"Come in." We heard him say from inside his office, we entered and Jonathan immediately stood upright.
"Welcome Mr Mendez, please have a sit." he greeted.
"Thanks and uh, this is my lawyer Ben." I informed him, sitting down on the chair he offered me and they shook hands in greeting.
"Mr Mendez, I got the forms, you can read over it and then sign." Jonathan stated, opening his drawer and removing a paper folder handing the papers to me.
Ben and I read through it.
"Okay, everything looks authentic, so I'll sign the papers to formulate the deal." I responded.
"Okay go ahead." Jonathan smiled.
I signed the papers and Ben signed it too has my lawyer and witness to this agreement. I stood up Jonathan and I shaked hands.
"You're now officially the new owner. Congratulations, I wish you all the best, I know you'll improve this hotel." Jonathan approved.
I smiled.
"Thank you for accepting my father's offer and I'll make sure I make Pennsylvania hotel reach the top." I replied, confidently.
"I'm sure you will, I hope you not mad about the elevator incident." he stated, nervously.
"No, I'm not since I'm the new owner, its my responsibility to insure that the elevator is working, so I'll make sure it's fixed, you don't need to worry." I answered, sincerely.
He smiled.
"Thank you so much, so tomorrow I'm thinking of introducing you to all our staff members, to all the employees of the hotel." Jonathan suggested.
"Well that's a great idea, I have no problem with that, I'm actually looking forward to that." I replied, enthusiastically.
"Okay then, you mayΒ keep the forms." Jonathan beamed.
"I'll make another copy for you, Thank you so much, we'll leave now." I pointed out.
"Okay, you welcome, bye." he replied.
"Bye." Ben and I both responded in unison, we left the office and I went to my presidential suite while Ben went to an apartment he had here in New York.
I opened my hotel door and walked straight to my bedroom, I undressed and went inside my bed and Leo joined me. I can't stop thinking about Isabella, she remains me so much of Maria, I don't know why I feel this strong connection between the both of us. She's the prettiest kid I've ever seen, I wish we could meet again, she's so charming and sweet. I rubbed Leo's back.
I closed my eyes, trying to sleep but my mind keeps drifting of to Maria and Isabella.
Why do I feel so connected to Isabella?
I need to see her again and find out what it is about her that makes me feel an immense connection between us....
