Chapter 122 Just The Two Of Us
Chapter 122 Just The Two Of Us
Nick Cage looked faintly at the hand on his arm. Veronica Parker immediately withdrew her hand and flatted the material she had scratched. She smiled awkwardly and turned her flushed face to one side.
Two drops of tears needed to fall in an instant as the appearance of her vulnerability were evident, which was really too humiliating!
Veronica looked down, and the town became smaller and farther away, with all the scenery in sight.
She thought, 'Peter only dreamed to ride an aircraft all day, but what he doesn't know is that his pro-Daddy has a plane.'
She couldn't help it. His daddy was too rich and his mom was too poor.
In more than thirty minutes, the helicopter landed on top of a building.
Veronica followed Nick from the plane, into the elevator, and down.
Halfway down, the elevator stopped, and the door opened so they went out.
Outside the elevator door stood two rows of attendants, women on one side and men on the other, wearing headsets, stooping and bowing their heads, ready--
"Mr. Page!"
This posture made Veronica feel like a cat pretending to be a tiger.
The floor was a restaurant, magnificent and elegant, but no other guests were seen.
Seeing Nick sit down, Veronica hesitated and asked, "Mr. Cage, we have arrived at the capital, so should I be going ahead?"
Nick leaned lazily in his seat, but his black eyes were raised with a cold, low voice and awe. "Sit down."
"Do I eat here, too?" Veronica was surprised.
"Do you want me to repeat it?"
Veronica had to sit down opposite him, winged carefully.
The waiter handed over the menu and Veronica took it. She looked up and saw Nick meeting her eyes and then landing on the menu.
Deep energy, expressionless face, even while looking at the menu, was very much like the way he dealt with important documents of the KING Group.
"Mr. Cage's business here is not very good, isn't it?" When Veronica saw the waiter standing a meter away, she asked in a low voice.
Nick raised his black eyes and looked at her silently.
"It's time for lunch. How come it's just the two of us?"
Nick withdrew his eyes with an expressionless face and said, "Order."
"Oh." Seeing that he didn't answer, Veronica looked down at the menu, looked at a few pages, and then asked, "Why isn't there a price list on it?" She took a closer look at it and said, "There is no such thing as..."
"I never look at the price when I eat." Nick didn't look up.
Veronica Parker understood the meaning of his words.
He never looked at the price, so clearly marking prices were superfluous.
Sure enough, she didn't understand the world of the rich.
Every time she bought clothes and other things for Peter, she always bought them at a discount. It was also a rare luxury, and it hurt badly.
Not to mention their own quality of life if she could afford it.
Veronica looked down at herself as if she had just remembered that she was still in her pajamas.
The neckline was still broken.
At first glance, this was a high-end place. It must be the first time that someone had come in for dinner in pajamas.
Fortunately, it was just her and Nick, so the waiter was very professional and won't look at it.
She was eased with some of the embarrassment.
Veronica just ordered two dishes at random. Nick put the menu on the table and said, "It's business as usual."
"Yes."
The waiter went down as if she and Nick were the only ones left in the space, and the air was uncomfortable.
Nick was calm, looking at the street view outside the floor-to-ceiling window as if Veronica didn't exist.
Veronica really wanted to hide somewhere to call Isabella, but it looked like this was within Nick's sphere of influence.
If a waiter saw her and tells Nick Cage, she couldn't argue.
She had no choice but to endure.
There was always a doubt in her heart, and after a moment of hesitation, she asked, "Mr. Cage, how did you know about my grandmother's house? You're not having me followed, are you?"
