Chapter 124 Fighting With Wits Over And Over Again
Chapter 124 Fighting With Wits Over And Over Again
Veronica Parker looked brightly at Nick Cage, "Thank you, Mr. Cage!"
Nick looked at her with an aggressive look in his eyes. "You can come whenever you want."
This sentence was kind if she didn't think about it deeply.
Veronica's joy was suppressed rationally before it was fully revealed.
She was not so stupid. If she accepted a gift from Nick, she would have to pay a price many times higher than she could afford.
"What, you don't want to eat here?"
"I'd rather not. I'm not that greedy." There was a smile on Veronica's face.
Nick's upper body leaned against the seat and his black eyes looked at her dangerously as if he was looking at prey in a cage. "You really keep turning me down, huh?"
Veronica's eyes twinkled, her face leaned over the floor-to-ceiling window, and she looked out. "Please let me go. I know I can't beat you, but at least be reasonable?"
"When means can be used, there is no need to be reasonable." Nick got up, the air was restless and turbulent, and his long figure gave people a strong impression. The next moment, Veronica's chin was pinched, lifted, and forced to look up, "Next time, I won't have such good luck."
With that, she loosened her jaw and turned away.
Veronica's heartbeat was like a drum, watching Nick and his bodyguards leave and disappear, and her nerves were calmed down.
Her pinched jaw skin, as well as her remaining feelings of courage, were fragile in the palm of Nick Cage.
She couldn't have understood what Nick said.
That he would let her go this time, but not next time.
In this way like any spell, it would be fulfilled at any time.
It made her heart panic and uneasy.
For the sake of the six little ones, she didn't want to have too much contact with Nick, but he didn't let her go because of Chloe Bowen.
Did she have to fight with her wits over and over again?
No, in the face of the absolute power of Nick Cage, it was as if she was powerless.
The waiter came over and said, "Hello, the food has been packed."
Veronica looked back at the packing box and said, "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
The first thing Veronica did when she walked out of the hotel with the box was to find a place to call Isabella.
She found a public telephone booth and dialed Isabella's number. "Isabella, it's me."
"Veronica? Ouch, where have you been? I haven't seen you all morning. I've dropped a cup and saw blood in the room. Are you doing all right?"
"You can't even imagine what happened to me last night. The man appeared in the house."
"What? Does he know about the children?"
"No. I dropped the cup on purpose. I hurt myself a little, and then we left. He didn't notice anything was wrong." Veronica Parker said.
"How did you hurt yourself? Does it still hurt?"
Veronica looked at the gauze on her arm and said, "It's okay. It's just a minor injury, but it's worth it."
Isabella didn't know what to say. "So I'm taking the kids back? They can't see you, so I can only find an excuse that you went back to work overtime."
"Good."
After hanging up the phone, Veronica looked at her gauze-covered arm again. She had to go to the hospital to change her dressing first.
In the evening, Veronica warmed up the delicious food she brought back and gave it to the six little ones without having a bite herself. She was very satisfied when she watched them eat.
Daniel pointed a fork at a small tomato, and the little tomato rolled as he reached with one fork after another with a question mark on his face, "Hmm?"
Veronica smiled, holding his small hand to help fork in the tomato, and his small round mouth opened so the tomato could slide in, and his small puffy face would show a happy smile.
The other five little ones also ate happily.
