Chapter 168 Just One Condition
Chapter 168 Just One Condition
"I'll think about it," Veronica said.
Chloe said with a smile, "Then give me a call when you have finally thought hard about it and come with a decision."
"Okay, sure."
"By the way, there's one more thing I forgot to ask you. Have you been with Toby Cage before? I heard from Eden about you two." Chloe said.
Veronica was pulled in a trance with the mention of his name and said, "It's just a thing of the past now. Please don't mention it anymore." With that, she got out of the car.
Chloe looked out of the window and watched her daughter Veronica walked her way to the TV station. She didn't expect that Veronica not only had something to do with Nick but also had a history with Toby Cage, who was definitely beyond her standards.
If she failed to persuade Veronica to be with Nick, won't she be able to finally get close to Nick?
Nick was completely impatient and rude with John, but with Veronica, he was different.
Veronica didn't know what Chloe was truly up to.
Originally, she didn't want to think about Toby, but when she was asked by her mother Chloe, she felt restless again.
When she got to her desk, Veronica saw the breakfast on the table again.
Still affixed with the same convenience label, even the handwriting has not changed at all.
Veronica had already had her breakfast, but when she opened the box, she thought that she could have some more.
After recording the program all morning, she had lunch before taking her first break.
While eating by herself, she thought about how Suzanne Roland has been so kind to her, that should she give her some sort of present. Food for reciprocity? But she didn't have any avenue to bring out her cooking skills. Perhaps she would just have to go out and buy some food.
In the middle of her thoughts, Veronica's cell phone rang. She saw the call from her mother. She hesitated for a while but still answered.
As soon as she got through to, Chloe's voice came out of her phone, "Why don't you come over for dinner tonight?"
"With the Cage family?"
"Veronica, I won't tell anyone, don't worry! Nick will go to the birthday party, but he will never come to any place near the Cage family. "
Whether Nick goes to the residence of the Cage family or not, Veronica did not want to ever get close to that family, which was definitely not good for her.
"I can go to the Cage family's dinner."
"Really?" Chloe asked while delighted.
"But I have just one condition."
"What is the condition?"
"Just this once. After this, no more forcing me to meet them again."
"Then it's settled. All right, I'll pick you up tonight." Chloe can only compromise and promise her a lie first so that Veronica would give up.
"No, you give me an address and I'll go by car."
"That's all right. Why don't you come here early? Mother asked the cook to cook delicious food for you."
Veronica didn't feel happy when she hung up. It was a burden for her.
However, this was only a one-time favor, and Chloe would not make such a request in the future again if she asserts.
Her eyes fell on her wrist. She reassured herself that she would come back from dinner as soon as possible.
After work, Veronica went home first.
As soon as the door opened, the six little children lined up in front of her and greeted her happily.
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
One by one, the six little children clung to her legs.
Veronica squatted down to hug them each. Peter immediately climbed onto her shoulder, while the other five children grabbed her legs.
"Were you standing by the door waiting for me? When I opened the door, you were already here."
Isabella smiled and said, "I was just playing, and I ran over as soon as I heard the noise outside the door."
"In that case, Mom will bump into you when he opens the door," Veronica said and ruffled her hair.
Peter crouched on top of her shoulder, and the five little ones buried themselves in her legs, acting cutely while being fondled by her parent.
Veronica, was she willing to have her children fostered?
The cell phone rang once again and Veronica took out the phone and saw that Chloe was trying to call her number.
Veronica said to Isabella, "I have to go out again. I'll be back after dinner."
Cathy asked hurriedly, "What can I do for Mom? Why is she leaving again?"
"I know! It's the thing when she has to work overtime!" Julie said.
"Bad things. Taking away mother." Josh wept with a grievance.
