Chapter 194 On The Way Home

Hitting two birds with one stone. That was how Veronica perceives, Nick's plan of buying the Cage family. One was to buy the Cage family's company, and the other was to test her sincerity for either him or Chloe.

Veronica should know that much, that even if someone wanted to ask Nick for something, they seemed to not find the initiative to do it. But with regards to his acquisition plan on the company, it was just a matter of three days. She already knew to herself, that she doesn't have the confidence to handle this matter, especially when it involves the great Nick Cage.

Veronica was still at the TV station, until 10 o'clock in the evening.

She wanted to go home and take some rest, after being busy working day and night, and after being tossed all night by Nick as well. While her mind was preoccupied with thought, she happened to look up and saw the body of the black Rolls-Royce. Veronica went to the side of the road tightened for a moment and received a strong signal of danger.

Even if the license plate with 'F1' on it was not visible at first glance, everyone could tell whose car it is. She even heard before, that the license plate number alone of Nick's car was worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Why did Nick Cage show up here again only a day later?

What does he want this time?

The car stopped in front of her. She can't figure out what's going on inside. The bodyguard went straight towards her as soon as he got off the car.

Veronica already knew what this means.

She knew so much, that even if the bodyguard doesn't get off of the car to fetch her, she would not dare turn around and leave. She would still obediently come forward.

The door opened when she was already at the side of the car. It looked like hell, and a demon was waiting for her to enter.

Her eyes fell directly on the long leg, and the man's aura was powerful and deep, not angry and arrogant.

She went into the car and sat down next to him.

The car left the TV station and drove on the road, as soon as the door closed. Veronica looked at the familiar route and noticed that it was headed to her residence. Was he about to send her back?

The possibility was very slim, she then thought.

There was a deafening silence inside the closed carriage, the air was full of tension, at least for her. She could sense that, for the next second, one of them would be triggered. She could not move. Being around Nick Cage, there was an unbearable pressure within her, and every single nerve of her went numb.

Each second that passed by, her breathing slowed down together with it.

Just then, his low and majestic voice, broke the silence inside the car, "Nothing to say?" he asked.

"Well, thank you for taking me home, Mr. Cage," Veronica answered him, trying to hide her alarmed voice as if nothing had happened.

Nick Cage glanced at her with his deep black eyes. "You can now stop holding your breath, and impress me."

Veronica looked at Nick Cage, with a smile full of danger. She was unsure of what she was doing. She was brazenly competing with Nick Cage, and maybe she was looking for death!

"Do you mean, regarding your acquisition of the Cage family? Chloe Bowen actually went to see me at the TV station earlier today and asked me to plead for her and to put a good for you. She even threatened me, if ever I will not cooperate."

"What did you say?" Nick Cage's dark eyes stared at her sinister and asked her. "She wouldn't have threatened me if I had agreed to help her."

"She even told me that, I am a piece of her, and if something bad happens to her, it would affect me too. But I don't even care. I'm already used to it. She abandoned me ever since I was born. Rest assured, that I will never put a good word for her, in front of you. You can go and buy the Cage family just like you wanted." Veronica yawned after she answered him. "It's been a busy day at work, do you mind if I take a nap?" As she said that, unbelievably, she was able to a comfortable position in the corner, she closed her eyes, and took a nap.

She was even shocked with herself, how could she dare relax and let her guard down in front of Nick?

Her body relaxed, but her mind was not clear.

She was aware that Nick Cage was watching her, and the sharp sight fell on her face like a sword.
