Chapter 223 A mother's promise
Chapter 223 A mother's promise
Veronica watched as Nick continued to wipe his hands with a cloth as if she's not even there. "You don't have to ignore me like this, you know. It was you who insisted for me to stay here a little longer after all." Nick threw the towel aside and looked at her with deep, dangerous black eyes. He slowly approached her.
She retreated subconsciously, bumping into the adornment shelf next to her. The vase fell off with a loud cracking sound and it broke to pieces.
Veronica looked at the debris on the ground. and asked, "It's not that expensive, right? Cage said nothing but he was clearly pissed off. Bob, who heard the sound, felt a flesh ache when he saw the broken vase on the ground.
This is one of the few remaining antique vases in the world.
Veronica studied Bob's face, looking for any hint that will make her feel a little less sorry for what she did.
The air was filled with a terrifying ambiance afterward.
While eating at the table, Veronica took a closer look at Nick's face. He seemed a bit off after the incident. She knew that she is not the only one who should be held accountable for the incident. If it weren't for Nick who scared her, the expensive vase should not have fallen off.
She thought if there is a thing that is inexpensive in the Villa. Everything seemed to be high-valued and exorbitant. Veronica Parker walked around the room at night.
She wondered if Peter is already preparing to rest at that time.
She reckoned that it would be better to talk to him on the phone but considered it to be too risky.
Despite having the door closed, it is still not safe for her to make a phone call on her own. After a few moments, she came up with an idea. She would put a glass near the doorknob so if someone twists it on the other side, the glass will fell. That will make her aware if someone would enter the room. Veronica put a glass beside the doorknob as planned and went into the bathroom with her cell phone.
Isabella sat on the sofa tidying up his clothes while Peter was playing on the foam board.
As soon as the cell phone next to it rang, the six little ones who had been playing immediately stopped and diverted their attention towards the phone. The six pairs of eyes shone brightly.
"Mom!" Peter.
"It must be Tom!" Cathy said.
Peter immediately ran to his cell phone with short legs.
Isabella looked at the caller ID and said, "It's Mom." She immediately answered the phone call but before she could say hello, Peter immediately shouted with excitement.
"Mom!"
Veronica didn't expect that she will be able to hear her children at that time. Her heart suddenly softened "Mom is working overtime. I'm sorry if could not be there with you as of now. But Mom will probably go back tomorrow, okay?" She said in a sweet voice.
"Mom." The six little ones had a shriveled mouth and tears swirled in their eyes.
" We're good, Mom" Peter assured her. "Mom, we will be obedient." Cathy held the panda in her arms and fought back tears.
"Mom, we don't have a problem," Julie said
"Don't worry, Mom." Josh added.
"Mom, we are waiting for you to come back!" Lily cooed
Daniel was holding the bottle and his face was low. "Mom," he muttered.
Veronica felt agonized to hear her children long for their mother. If it weren't for Nick, she could stay there longer. But because of her young ones, there is no means of escape for her.
"Mom promises you that if you behave, I will go back tomorrow." Veronica was never certain, but she'll do everything that it might take to be with her children again.
"Yes mom, we will behave," Peter answered.
"Can you tell me what did you do at school today?" Veronica asked, wanting to hear more of their milky voices.
