Chapter 285 Hide and Seek
Chapter 285 Hide and Seek
Veronica had never wanted to bother Isabella this much.
"What are you talking about? You really don't have to feel bad about it. Anyway, you're the only person I can trust. Are we not the same?" Isabella retorted, reassuring Veronica that everything was going to be fine.
"In fact, I feel at ease whenever I'm with you and the children. I just know that life is going to be full of hope this time around." She added.
Veronica didn't know what to say and just smiled. She knew that Isabella was a good person so she also wanted to be able to treat Isabella right.
After Josh ate, Isabella made him drink a bottle of water. When his fever went down, both Isabella and Veronica then proceeded to utilize their plan.
The five children were woken up again and Veronica felt really bad for them. She had woken them up several times already and she figured that they needed a break.
Fortunately, the children did very good because they didn't cry and simply followed Veronica to the car she rented.
Veronica told the driver to go straight to the hotel that she was looking for and he simply agreed.
The place was a suburb that was away from the city, so it took them less than an hour to go there. It was 12 o'clock in the evening, however.
Luckily, boss of the hotel was a woman and was very talkative.
The advantage of hotel was that it already has everything you could ask for. They also had a kitchen with all kinds of utensils, which was similar to the house Veronica rented before.
There were exactly two rooms, Both Isabella and Veronica decided that one room is for Isabella and the other one is for Veronica and the kids.
When Veronica climbed onto bed, the six children fell fast asleep.
Veronica saw the hotel, she told herself that she really wanted to live here.
She suddenly felt that the world was just so big that she had no place for herself anymore.
That is, unless Nick gives up looking for her.
If Veronica was the only one who couldn't be found during the incident, he might have given up. However, now that Nick knows about the children, it's going to be impossible for him to give up. He knows that Veronica's alive, after all.
A helicopter parked directly on the vacant lot of a residential area.
Nick then got off the plane with alongside his bodyguards.
One of his bodyguards took a man out of the elevator and threw him in front of Nick.
The man stumbled and almost fell to the ground. He looked up at Nick and was absolutely terrified that he felt his legs turned into jelly.
Nick's bodyguard asked, "Did you pick up two women and six children?"
The man in front of Nick was none other than the private car driver who drove Veronica away at the bus stop.
"Y-Yes. I did encounter a passenger like that. " The man said as he trembled in fear.
Nick gave the man a stern look, "Where are they?"
"Z City. "
"It'll take more than three hours to get from the bus stop to Z city," Nick told him, "You came back in less than an hour. Where are they?"
The man froze for a moment He didn't understand how a man like Nick knew about how long he drove back.
"Don't want to talk about it?" Nick told the driver, glaring at him from head to toe.
"N-no, I mean, I was the one who drove for them, but they changed trains when they got out of town. We agreed on the price and it ended there. I think she just doesn't have any money!" The driver told Nick. He was a little angry, but he surely didn't want to lose his job just because of a dangerous man.
Nick's still have the driver a cold glare, thinking whether or not he should believe the guy.
Veronica was afraid that Nick will find the private car and find out the address where they're hiding. In that way, Veronica was sure that he'll find her faster.
Veronica simply tried to trick Nick into thinking she'd gone to Z City.
This way, even if Nick knew that Veronica had gone to Z city, he wouldn't be able to find her because she didn't go there in the first place.
Veronica knew the consequences of running away with the children. She knew this, so she was anxious that Nick will be able to track her down.
Nick turned away from the driver and got on the helicopter.
The driver watched Nick get on the helicopter and he relaxed.
He thought that the woman was absolutely right. She really was being chased.
At first, the woman wanted to change trains and said that she was being chased, but the driver was skeptical at the time. Right now, he can't help but simply believe in the woman.
"It's like they're playing a game of hide and seek." The driver murmured to himself.
