Chapter 353 Fake
Chapter 353 Fake
Still trembling, Veronica turned to switch the lights on. Then, the place became bright and every corner of the room could be seen now.
Veronica looked at Nick Cage.
The sharp lines of his face was stiff and tight as the result of repressing his desire. His eyes were deep and narrowed, and his shirt was slightly messy.
Nick walked into the house.
Veronica became nervous as she watched his movements.
"Can I get you a glass of water?" She stuttered as he took another step forward.
Nick didn't answer, but Veronica went to get him some water anyway.
Nick's eyes fell on a piece of paper on the coffee table. The paper was pressed by the remote control.
He reached out to pick it up, and the words 'paternity certificate' greeted his sight.
In the lower right corner, the numbers '99.9%' could be seen. Veronica's biological paternity test result with Chloe was 99.9%.
Veronica looked back at Nick from the kitchen and silently withdrew her sight. She poured the warm water into the glass. She added honey and stirred it gently.
The paternity certificate in Nick's hand was not the original paternity certificate that she got.
That one had long since gone, tore up to the point of unintelligible and was thrown to the trash can right after. Then, she went back to the hospital and begged the doctor to print a fake one for her.
In order to get a fake one, she cried and pretended to be pitiful. A little bit of bribing was involved as well. After all, she had to make it look like it's real to fool Nick.
She couldn't help it. She wanted Nick to see the fake one.
Veronica handed him the water. "I put some honey to relieve your drunkenness."
Nick took the water, looked at it, and raised his black eyes to regard her. "Do you think I'm drunk?"
"I'm just being kind. You can also not drink it if you don't want to!" Veronica turned angrily and saw the paper on the coffee table. She immediately stuffed it into a drawer.
Then, she sat on the sofa and drink her own cup of honey water slowly.
She knew that Nick was not drunk, but her mind was not so clear. She couldn't relax even if the crisis was temporarily averted because it was easier to get confused as soon as you relax.
Nick Cage glanced at her before he drank the honey water from the cup.
Veronica would like to ask Nick when he planned to go, but she was afraid that he would be offended by the question.
"What will you do with Lisa?" Veronica asked instead, albeit hesitantly.
"She'll leave the TV station."
Veronica knew that if she pleaded again, Lisa would not be able to survive again.
She noticed that Nick wasn't wearing a coat. Lisa rubbed her make-up on his clothes so he must have thrown them away.
Lisa's loss really outweighs the gain. She finally achieved something in the TV station, but she couldn't stay because she offended people.
When you thought about it this way, who would be benefiting this result?
It would be Bella.
That woman's mind was not ordinary. She wanted to sow discord between her and Lisa as well.
The Department of Public Information certainly did not have as much traffic as the Entertainment Department. In particular, children's record-breaking ratings in the first season soared, together with the popularity of Lisa.
So how could Bella not be jealous?
Before the second season came out, she probably couldn't wait to replace Lisa as the host.
Veronica thought about it for a while, then she yawned. She lazily leaned her head on the back of the sofa. She didn't fight her closing eyelids.
She was asleep after a few seconds.
Drinking really made people more daring.
In the middle of the night, in the same room, she fell asleep like a defenseless child in front of Nick!
Nick's eyes fell on Veronica's sleeping face. His black eyes didn't leave the sight for a long time.
In the morning, Veronica woke up dizzy.
It was a few minutes later when she realized that she was in Isabella's place.
