Chapter 36 I've Been Thinking About You
Chapter 36 I've Been Thinking About You
There were bags of milk powder at her feet while she was holding the pole of the train. People in the subway were visible in the glass frame, each had their own posture, each had their own face.
Veronica Parker stared at herself but somehow, she seemed hollow.
She heard the words of her colleagues from the company.
She heard that the child was Mr. Cage's brother.
A half-brother.
Mr. Cage broke off relations with the Cage family a long time ago. Everyone understood that the younger brother's mother was not a person, she destroyed other people's family and took office as a mistress.
Veronica Parker never expected to meet the mother she didn't see for almost ten years.
She even thought that they would never see each other again for the rest of their life.
It had something to do with Nick Cage.
She thought of the way she protected her son and worried about the child and Veronica Parker felt that she was a little out of breath. It looked like she was very protective of her son.
Veronica Parker's hand gripped the train's pole very hard that her knuckles turned white. She was trying really hard to suppress her emotions.
Before she entered the door, Veronica Parker took a deep breath first and shouted. "I'm back!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
Her little babies, who were still playing a moment ago, immediately ran towards her, they ran with their short legs and they all tried to climb her. Peter climbed directly onto her shoulders and would not come down.
Veronica Parker squatted, she looked at them happily, she was thinking that this feeling was so good. She had her own children to worry about, why think so much about that, isn't it right?
But, a few days later, Veronica Parker didn't expect to meet Chloe Bowen again and this time around, it was not a chance encounter, she deliberately waited for her.
Veronica Parker saw Chloe Bowen and she walked away in a hurry.
"Veronica! Wait a minute! "
Veronica Parker's footsteps faltered subconsciously.
Chloe Bowen chased her and said, "I came to see you on purpose. I want to talk to you. Can we find a place to sit down and talk? "
At the coffee shop, near the window, the lazy light outside refracted the cup on the table into a yellow, warm but not soothing light.
"If you have nothing important to say, I have to go back." Veronica Parker said.
"Where do you live now?"
"If that's what you're asking me, I don't think it's necessary to waste both our time."
"I'm sorry, I know you're still blaming me, but you know, I couldn't take with me."
Veronica Parker looked out of the window and looked at Chloe Bowen afterward. "Couldn't take me with you or you simply didn't want to, at all?"
"I -- Yes, I can't get married if I have you with me. That's what I thought at the time. But even so, I've been thinking about you. "
"Thinking about me?" Veronica Parker looked at her with red eyes. "But I didn't even have your contact information and you haven't made an effort to see me not even once, right?"
"Veronica, I'm sorry, but I have my reasons."
To say she was sorry was to admit her selfishness but she still didn't realize all the hardships she experienced when she left her.
She could raise six children by herself, not like her own mother who wasn't able to raise her own daughter.
Veronica Parker was not asking for anything from her except one, "I know you're married to the Cage family. I work for the KING Group. Nick Cage is from the Cage family, right? So, from now on, don't come to me again. Also, please treat me as if you don't know me."
"Why? You are my daughter! Also, you mentioned about working in the KING Group, I can help you. "
