Chapter 484 Grace Under Pressure
Chapter 484 Grace Under Pressure
Tom Parker tried to patch things up between him and his family. He has done a lot of progress and his family noticed it. "How was your stay here so far?" Sarah North asked.
Veronica Parker was obviously having a hard time but she has to play the part and pretend like she was doing great. She swallowed the food in her mouth and said, "Not bad."
Sarah North glanced at Tom Parker, snorted, and said, "Although your father is unreliable, he is very attentive to his daughter."
Tom Parker smiled and hurriedly picked up some food for her. "You should eat. Here, do you want to eat fish?" Without any response from Sarah North, he picked up a piece of fish and put it into her bowl.
Veronica Parker ate her own food in silence.
Tom Parker turned to face Veronica Parker and said, "By the way Veronica, tomorrow, we're going to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of our company. I'd like to invite Nick Cage. What do you think?"
Veronica Parker drew down her eyes. She didn't know how to react.
Tom Parker had it all planned. He knew how to catch people's attention. If Nick Cage presides over the ribbon-cutting ceremony, it won't be an ordinary celebration anymore in the city.
Tom Parker knew he couldn't get Nick Cage, so he just asked Veronica Parker to do it for him.
"I'll see what I can do. I'll call him later." Veronica Parker said.
Tom Parker smiled. "I knew you'd say yes. It's just a piece of cake for you! Here, eat some more." He happily offered.
Sarah North interrupted, "She said she'll call. But she didn't say Nick Cage would come, right?"
Tom Parker looked at Veronica Parker and asked, "You think he'd come?"
"I'm not sure. If he's busy, he definitely can't. And besides, you told me about it just now. When I was still working at King Group, Nick Cage would schedule his meetings a week early." Veronica Parker responded.
"Then call him after dinner." Tom Parker instructed.
"Ok." Veronica Parker answered coldly.
Clare Parker joined their conversation and suspiciously asked Veronica Parker, "Since Nick Cage cares about you so much, why don't you just stay in Winter Villa? Do you think you could invite him over and take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony?" Veronica Parker looked straight at her and responded, "I didn't say he would come. Did I?"
Clare Parker was paralyzed by Veronica Parker's rhetorical question.
"Since I'm staying here, I believe I'm part of the family. Not to mention the fact that I have joined the company. Of course, I'll contribute and do my part. But if you think I can't invite Nick Cage, why don't go and do it yourself?" She challenged her. "You seemed so unsure about everything. And also, what makes you think Nick Cage would agree and he'll give way to the development of Southwest District? Are you kidding us?" Clare Parker asked with a judgmental tone. Veronica Parker glanced at Tom Parker with a conciliatory smile on her face.
"Clare Parker, do you want Nick Cage to give way or not?" Veronica Parker rests her chin on one hand and looked straight into Clare Parker's eyes.
"That would highly depend on your ability to convince him." Clare Parker answered directly.
"Well, I'm sure Veronica will do her best. We are a family. We should trust each other, right?" Tom Parker spoke and tried to pacify the situation.
"I lost my appetite. Enjoy your dinner." Veronica Parker threw her spoon and fork, got up, and left.
Tom Parker pushed his glass and said helplessly, "Where are you going? Oh, come on. Veronica, you have to do it for the family. Please do it for me. Once you're done convincing him, you can do whatever you want. I won't interfere." Elton Parker sneered. "Does your own daughter know you're so insidious?"
